The Talking Crystal (4)

Lucas was sure that the woman he saw earlier was her, his long lost twin sister. Kavira... he had been so young he didn't remember her name but he remembered her warm face and the brand on her right arm. Why didn't she recognize him? In fact, she looked alerted by him when she was walking into the castle. He looked over at the night sky, it was about two in the morning. Earlier, he called in a favor with an overnight worker from the castle that owed him and asked if he could sneak him into the castle to see the girl.

At first the worker hesitated but was later convinced when he found that the girl he was looking for was staying in the left wing in separate rooms with her friends. Lucas was ready, this time he was prepared to see his sister. She must've had such a hard time, Lucas looked down to see the tree mark on his right arm. He was born a Lokath, a secret his mother had told him never to share because if the wrong people knew than he would be tortured.

For years he wrapped his wrists, explaining to others that it helped him fight better with hand to hand combat but it was a lie. Lucas had made his way to the castle and slipped into the side door of the castle to find his friend waiting for him. "You have a two minute window. She in the fifth right to the right side of the corridor."

The friend walked away and disappeared after making a right turn onto another corridor. Lucas moved quickly, he needed to find her and talk to her as soon as possible. He found the door instantly after reaching the left wing corridor, he turned his head from left to right to make sure that no one was around or following and he gradually opened the door.

The room was dark, the curtains hard been rolled down to keep the moonlight from coming in. "Why have you come?" Kavira lit a flame on her finger to allow her to view the culprit better. Lucas then observed that she was not alone, two other girls were sleeping on the floor while she was upright sitting.

"How did you know I was coming?" Lucas had trained as a warrior but he didn't have the money to continue which was why he had resorted to being a gate guard. "Are you a warrior?"

"Mmmm.. Why have you come?" Kavira narrowed her eyes asking the same question once again. "Have you come to try and kill me?"

Lucas was appalled, this was his sister why would he try to kill her? "No no no. I've come to see you, to talk to you."

"Why?" This was Kavira's third time asking why and this man was avoiding the question. What was he hiding so much that he continuously deflected.

Lucas took a deep breath and removed the wrap from his wrist, he then showed Kavira the mark of a tree. "Because... I am your brother."

"My Lord, a guard says that he saw Dalton travel through the gates earlier but he was with another man and there was no since of a woman." Bort reported the information he had gathered to Lord Yoru. "However, another guard did say that he saw a beautiful girl with blonde hair and gray eyes come into the city with a man that had blue eyes and black hair, a lavender pixie with light pink hair was also with them."

Lord Yoru held on tightly to his golden cane. "That is all the information you have? You may go." Bort took a bow and left Lord Yoru to his own thoughts. That stupid fawn failed to fulfill my orders and now he's gone rogue. The man wasn't going to lie, he was holding out hope that Dalton hadn't given up and would bring him what he had asked for but in the end he was wrong. "I am here.. and you will soon be dead."

Lord Yoru banged the cane twice against the floor lighting the cane up with flames at the tip. "Bring me Dalton's location and make it quick, I don't have any patience right now." A piece of flame flickered up from the rest and immediately lunged forward into Keero in search for Dalton.
