The Talking Crystal (3)

"King Adonis really said that?" Nyla was relieved, they had met Dalton out in front of the castle and found this shabby room to sleep in for the night but already she was so joyous to hear Kavira give her such fine news.

"I don't know how to feel about this, Clain?" Linx wasn't convinced at all. The Keero King had personally asked Kavira and them to stay in the palace because he would give her the compass as soon as she spoke to a talking crystal. This felt too good to be true.

"I was skeptical at first myself but he seems to really want to hand the compass over. He also agreed that we can all go into the room with Kavira when she goes to speak to the talking crystal." Clain wasn't about to let his guard down but he was grateful that this mission didn't have to be so difficult.

"The king mentioned there was five friends along with me, is this the fifth person?" Kavira looked at the lavender pixie, she didn't look shy but she was observing Kavira pretty intensely.

"Yes, this is Brenda. She joined us after my fiasco in the tavern. Unfortunately, she caught me using my powers so Linx decided maybe it was a good idea to keep her along." Nyla was sure that Kavira was curious as to why she was a pixie and she didn't want Brenda to have to retell her story so she just briefly said. "She's a pixie because she fell in love with a human. In the world of the fairies that is a great taboo so she was banned and had her wings clipped off."

Kavira nodded and didn't press any further. They all gathered their stuff and left for the castle, they were received but a butler and were taken to the King's study where they were asked to wait for a moment until King Adonis became available.

"I wasn't sure earlier but I'm sure now. You're a Fiena aren't you?" Brenda spoke up, she wasn't sure until she saw the dragon eye on her arm but she was convinced when she witnessed that this young woman was the leader here among her elders. She had a fascination for magical beings, she studied and read the books so much she could probably read the texts word for word on magical beings.

"I am." Kavira was refreshed by Brenda's genuine reaction to her response. "That's amazing!! But I noticed that Nyla doesn't bear the mark of a Mertas, how is it that she has powers?"

"We don't know how any of us have powers, none of us bare a mark. Which is why we came looking for the compass hoping that the Dragon Elder could give us answers to our questions." Linx had shared some information that not even Dalton had known. Dalton sat there listening and was ultimately surprised, they all had magical powers so why had he only ever seen Nyla and Kavira use theirs.

"All of you have powers?" Brenda was shocked, none of them bare a mark so how are the capable of having magic.. "What are the rest of you?"

"I'm a Grocan and Linx is a Minsho, Dalton is just a true warrior." Clain was growing with impatience. He stood up from his seat and began to pace until he settled himself leaning again the wall.

Brenda wanted to ask so many more questions but she quickly realized that they didn't have the answers which is why they were here. Not long after the door opened and King Adonis walked in. "I apologize for my tardiness. A few Kingly matters required my attention, now. I have your quarters ready in the left wing of the castle with your rooms all next to each other, my butler outside the door will show you to your rooms." They all stood up ready to leave then the King spoke again. "One last thing, the talking crystal said that he will meet you all tomorrow afternoon sharp."

Every single person were able to have their own room but the girls decided to stay together and the boys didn't mind bunking in either. Dalton was becoming like a member of the group, he was happy but he still had the necklace which made him feel a bit off at times. He didn't doubt that sooner or later it would come off.

Linx asked for Kavira to stay out for a moment, he missed her and was finally able to have some alone time with her. He reached for her hands and pulled her in closer. "You always look beautiful but not seeing you for a long time really made my heart ache."

Kavira was flushed by his words. He always knew what to say and when she was around him she couldn't help but be thankful. "I'm sorry I didn't have much time to think about you but I missed you a lot too." Kavira brought her head in awaiting for the kiss on her forehead when she felt Linx's hand leave hers and he lifted her chin gently.

"Not today." Kavira shifted her gaze from Linx's eyes to his lips and watched as he brought his head down to place his lips onto hers. Every single butterfly in her stomach had quit fluttering and the tigers were now roaring.
