The Other Fiena (3)

"So I wasn't able to find anything useful but I read enough. There was something interesting, have you ever heard of the story with the triplets?" Leena wanted to know if there was anything deeper to this story. She didn't have much education, being raised by her cousin but she had heard about a story of triplets she just didn't know it by heart. In her world, that story was nothing but a fairy tale but to come to this world and read a similar story felt odd.

"Oh yes, the triplets. It's a very old mythical story told to all the kids growing up. How much of it did you read?" Leena explained the part that she read, Damon listened and then continued to tell the story from where she left off. "The King died after he passed the thrown to the Fiena, the two siblings were so enraged that they were plotting to kill her until one day one sibling had a change of heart. No one knows if it was the sister or the brother. Anyways... Point is that the sibling heart changed decided to not kill their younger sister and ended up warning her about the other sibling. It was known that the sibling was cursed out of the kingdom to live like a lowly peasant."

That didn't seem right, how did one of the siblings suddenly have a change of heart? "Do you know why the sibling decided to warn their youngest sister?"

"Nope, the ending part of the story is pretty vague and since the ending was pretty much erased by every book it isn't accurate. It doesn't have a real ending but what I told you is what my mother used to tell me to put me to sleep."

Leena acknowledge what he meant, though unsatisfied she continued on. "I am done using the library, I'm going to be heading out soon. I wouldn't mind visiting your sister and her friends, do you know where they are now?"

Damon shook his head. Last he heard his sister told her father that they were headed to the outer rim, she didn't say for what but he was sure it was for the staff or something pertaining to it.

"We are here." The ruins appeared to look just like the blackened rocks scattered around this outer rim region, how did Dalton know these were ruins? "The tunnel should be over here."

Dalton pointed to the right but Kavira stopped him from moving forward. "Let me tell the hunters to set camp. Lord Yoru should be down there so he may come up here. Walking into a closed space isn't idea especially with our precautions."

If Lord Yoru doesn't appear before the camp is completely set up then she will send Bort to bring the Lord up to meet them. Everything was ready and Lord Yoru still had not made his way to greet them. "Bort, please go into the tunnel and meet Lord Yoru, inform him that I am here to see him as are his hunters."

Kavira didn't want to waste anymore unnecessary time than she needed to. Her goal was reaching the Dragon Elder but she hadn't given up on maybe receiving something from Lord Yoru. "Lady Kavira!" Bort had marched into the tunnels and back out almost instantly. "Lord Yoru is injured and in terrible condition!"

Kavira ran into the tunnels followed by her group, she saw him as soon as she entered the tunnels. His body was collapse over the stone floors and his face was black, a bite mark was on his arm. He had been poisoned but he wasn't dead, Kavira knelt down on both needs and placed her palm on his head. OUCH!

Kavira quickly retreated her hand. "I don't understand, why can't I touch him?" Kavira tried again and again her hand stung to the slightest touch.

"It's your pendant. It's sensing danger from him." Nyla was sure that her pendant was forbidding her from going into any danger, this kind of poison was no ordinary poison and it looked like it had reached his entire body.

A man in a red mask appeared from the shadows on the far side of the tunnels. "You are not who I was expecting." His voice sounded disappointed but he was curious about that pendant. "I can give you an antidote and save his life but first you must hand over that pendant."

Kavira remained kneeled and calm, she shifted her gaze from the man in the red mask to Lord Yoru. She had no reason to sacrifice herself for this man so instead she tried to put her palm on his forehead again, and again and again and every time the sting hurt more than the last.

"Who were you expecting me to be?" Kavira looked up at the masked man in anger, she had all this power and she still couldn't save this man. Why was this pendant being so particular, was this dark magic?

"I was expecting you to be the worthy one."
