Into the Mountains (2)

The following morning everyone was done eating and ready to head west into the deep parts of the mountain ranges. "We can ride our mounts, since Brenda had a smaller body she can fit with Leena on Lucky and Dalton can ride with Kavira and I." Clain was sure that something happened overnight. The hostile environment that presented itself last night no longer existed, Leena and Kavira were speaking to each other as if there had never been any confusion.

"Sounds fair." Leena wasn't going to argue, she needed to gain the trust of the group but she did feel like something should be said among them.

"Leena will be holding onto to Dragon Elders compass." Kavira wasn't loud but she was heard. "The day that Kizuato found us, was the day I realized that the compass wouldn't show me any direction. He was right, I wasn't the worthy one. Leena is."

Leena had thought too soon but even then she didn't have to say that she was the 'worthy' one. Everyone creased their eyebrows, staring in Leena's general direction. "I am able to see the compass but I would hardly call myself the 'worthy' one." Leena wasn't sure if all Kavira wanted was for their to be honesty in the group or if she had something else in mind.

"She also held on to Yùlóng and it reacted to her, it turned red like the aura around the diadem, the magical aura that the rest of you don't see." Lucas wasn't sure he had heard Kavira correctly, Yùlóng reacted to Leena's touch but she wasn't even from this world.

"But your Binsho has the power to give others power, you're incredibly strong." Lucas was cut off.

"I don't believe you understand Kavira... I am not the 'worthy' one. You are not the 'worthy' one. I don't know why the compass and the dragon staff, Yùlóng, reacted to my touch but I believe that the Dragon Elder may know." Leena wanted to clarify this misinformation and then went about her train of thought. "So you're the reason these humans have magic? That's quite a talent."

"I believe that will be a conversation for another time." Kavira wasn't happy that Leena continued to mock her by saying she wasn't the 'worthy' one when everything clearly pointed to her. "Let us ride to the mountains. Here, take the compass." Kavira handed the box over to Leena and mounted Hip behind Clain. "I hope we reach there before night fall."

"Your heart is different than Kavira's." Brenda was hoping to have a conversation with Leena, last night she had woken up to see the scene between Leena and Kavira. It was something that hit Kavira harder than Leena could have imagined. "She woke up not to long ago from a five year sleep because her soul was shattered. Her connection with Clain saved her life, she is lost about who she really is and what she has to play in all of this.

You on the other hand didn't choose this, you have your memories, and this world isn't even your own." Brenda was sure that Leena's mind was consumed with memories of the people she left behind. "It must be awful to know nothing about your situation, Kavira is in the same boat."

Leena wasn't sure what this pixie was aiming for but she didn't stop her from speaking her mind. "I believe that the reason you can obtain the reaction of a 'worthy' one is because you were born with that purpose. While Kavira was born with a different purpose."

"She has her thoughts all wrong. There is no worthy one, at least that's what I believe. I could be wrong but I would like to help Kavira find closure." Leena wasn't sure what it was but she felt a closeness to Kavira, like they were destined to meet. "I also need to find my cousin. Queen Irene told me that my mark would guide me but I can't sense anything."

"It is possible that the Dragon Elder has a lot more answers that we ourselves can obtain on our own." Brenda gazed around to find Leena's eyes staring lovingly at Linx. "This Izak person that you mentioned, who was he to you?"

Leena's eyes dropped down to the pendant. "He was my protector, he gave me this pendant and proposed to me. Told me that when I was older he would marry me." Brenda didn't respond, this was clearly a hard topic to touch on. She could hear the strain in her voice as though she wanted to cry. "I have memories I lost too.. I really wish I could find him and tell him that I do."

Leena let her tears flow for a second before turning up one again to glance over at Linx. "I believe that he is still alive, my pendant tells me so. But I don't know where he is or what happened to him."

"What do you mean?" Brenda was a little confused, Leena hadn't mentioned anything like this.

"You see, in order to enter this realm from my world you have to make a sacrifice, it has to be something you love. My cousin, the woman I'm searching for sacrificed something the night she pushed me into the portal. When I looked around to find Izak, he was no where around." Leena wiped away her tears and he calm expression returned to her face. "I want to live in peace but I have to find the truth. That is the real reason I'm following you all to the Dragon Elder."
