The Fiena Trials (3)

"None of this feels right." Brenda was sure that leaving now was the best option for everyone but they decided to stay because Leena wouldn't budge. They may have only known her for a little while but she was a good person, with a kind heart. Leaving her with her own battle would be wise but she came to them.

She was determined from the beginning to not be alone. "Of course it doesn't. This is a dragon cave and we are waiting on a man who may or may not be able to kill us." Dalton was sure his pessimism was clouding the group but he couldn't help it. He wasn't gifted with powers like the rest, he was just a true warrior and Brenda was just a pixie.

"You all don't have to stay. I can do this on my own." Leena sounded as confident as she could but there was no assertiveness in her heart. She knew that as soon as she felt his presence her actions would probably be uncontrollable. The group started telling her that they won't leave her and that they'll do this together.

It warmed her heart but she knew better than to rely on that alone. Not too long ago she believed the man that swore an oath to protect her would come back, but he has been long dead. "What about the jade dragon staff? Did the elder take that with her?"

"No. She left it in her study. She said that you would know what to do with it as soon as you left the room." Leena nodded. "I'll go alone. If Kizuato appears before I come back keep him busy Kavira." She jogged down a familiar path, past the training rooms and into the Dragon Elders study.

"What a pleasant surprise." Leena's body froze, her heart skipped a beat and her mouth instantly dried up. Her body betrayed her but her mind was still very logical, she threw a magic beam towards the man to stun him but he dodged it. "Now now. Let's play nice."

"Who are you?" Leena's anger was forming around her white aura and turning her aura red.

"Wait. Let's-" Leena threw a blue fire ball cutting the man off from speaking. "WHO ARE YOU!?"

A toxic sensation filled Leena's body, her rationality was escaping her mind. She cried for months since she turned back from stone for this man. Izak was dead. Why was his body being used by someone else.

Leena recognized the scar over his left eye and the wound on his chest. This shameless man wore a revealing vest with no shirt under, Izak may have been a bit mean to Amira but he would never wear something vulgar. "I will not ask you again. Who are-"

The man in Izak's body disappeared and reappeared in front of Leena putting his hands over Leena's balled up fist. "Relax Leena... I will answer all of your questions. Just relax, please."

Leena wanted to continue fighting but her reason returned to her, it was wise to listen up. She suppressed her power and removed herself from the man's touch. Calmly she asked the man who he was.

"I am Dracon. Rhea asked me to come here to finish your trials. Kizuato will not be coming, she made that story up for your friends to believe it but she knew you wouldn't have resisted the urge to fight my father." Dracon moved away from Leena, taking a seat in Rhea's chair waiting for Leena to take a seat on the opposite side of the desk.

"Why would she ask you here? What trials?" Dracon unwrapped a candy and pushed the caramel unto his mouth. "She asked me here because I am the only one capable of defeating my father. However, this body is very limited. So the Fiena Trials are meant to harness the inner demons within every Fiena."

"What do you mean? Aren't you the one with the cursed soul? Why would she ask you of all people to help us? You killed and took his body..."

"Correction, Amira killed Izak. I took his body because it was sacrificed for me while I was in her possession and she opened the portal. I did tell her to try and prevent you from coming to the Dragon Elder but she was caught by my father."

"Why did you want her to prevent me from coming here?" Leena didn't know this man but he seemed like a game chaser, who just did things for fun and for the hell of it.

"Because if you found out what really happened, you'll end up killing her."

"I don't want to kill her, I want to save her. What she did was not her fault, she was told to do those things by you. Her greed and jealousy may have clouded her but she would have never done those things if you hadn't told her to."

"You're wrong. Amira may not have been in complete control but she was no idiot. She did those things of her own free will." Dracon reached forward offering the hand Leena once knew to be Izak's. "Take my hand. I'll show you."

Leena's body betrayed her mind, taking Dracon's hand and being pulled into a hazy dream.
