The Tour

Sam was overly emotional, he ran over to the landing gear and hugged it, then kissed it. "My baby, did they treat you alright." Sam wasn't really expecting an answer but he just said what felt right in the moment, when he heard a digital sounding cough from the ship. Sam instantly jumped back in fright. "Amy?"

"Welcome back Captain, it is nice to see you too. However, please never do that in front of other ships' A.I, or I might explode in embarrassment." Sam was speechless for a moment. Is she serious? Amy wouldn't really explode, right? Throwing that thought aside for now Sam apologized.

"Sorry about that Amy, I'll keep that in mind." Sam wondered why Ari was being so quiet, turning, he literally saw her drooling looking at his ship. "Ari?" Ari suddenly snapped to attention.

"YES!" Wiping the saliva from her face, Ari looked at me, then the ship and back again. "Come on captain. Give me a tour... please" Sam laughed a little from the pleading look on her face the turned to the ship. When he arrived at the vasian homeworld last time. Amy briefed him on all the way of the ship, two airlocks on either side of the ship and a ramp on the underside of the ship, directly under the nose of the corvette.

"Amy, could you open up the ramp, please?

"Certainly captain." A loud click resounded from the ship and the ramp began to descend. Well, there's no using this thing for stealth missions then. unless there's a way to make that quieter. He pushed the thought aside for now and focused on the task at hand. Sam waved Ari forward and climbed up the ramp showing Ari each room one by one. This as you can tell is the main entrance to the ship further along down is the cargo bay, living quarters, recreational rooms, and engineering. all these rooms are connected by a main junction in the center as well as to each other, except the engine room and bridge, those can be accessed through the junction. Those are locked behind two three-inch-thick steel double doors. As Sam finished, we came up to the steel doors leading to the bridge.

"Amy, If you would, please."

"Certainly." The doors mechanism opened the door revealing the bridge. In the background, Sam heard Amy gasp, Sam walked forward to the main console, then turned around in a flourish waving his arm out to the side.

"What do you think?" Ari, however, wasn't look at him as she was running up to every console oo'ing and ah'ing, then she came up to where he was at the main console.

"I can't believe I'm on a ship Sam. I don't think you know what this means to me, I've been wanting to be a ship pilot my whole life but I was never allowed to join our military, and now.." Then without warning, Ari hugged Sam. Sam was rather taken aback. After a few seconds, she left his embrace. "Sam, can I fly your ship? Please, I know you have just met me and all but-"

"Yeah sure, but good luck convincing Jana to let us fly. I'll try hailing her over the comms, but no promises, ok?" Ari stood there with a stunned expression on her face.

"R-re-really just like that?" Ari stammered.

"Just like that." Sam pulled up comms on the console and pulled up the only contact on the list. After a few seconds, the line crackled.

"State the reason for your hail." said a male bored sounding voice.

"Yes, this is Sam... you know... the human. Anyhow, I was wondering if you could connect me with the matriarch?" There were a few seconds of silence then, "You're on her authorized contact list, connecting you now." A few more seconds of static, then the line crackled.

"This is Jana of the Vasians, Matriarch of the Valarian homeworld, who am I speaking with?"

"Hi, Jana it's me, Sam just wondering if I could stretch my legs with good old Amy. Is that alright?"

"It's fine, just don't leave the sol system. remember my words well, until I say so you can not leave."

"Jeez, ok I heard you. Anyway, thanks. Sam signing off." Sam cut the comms and turned toward Ari who was dancing around like a mad man. Without saying a word Ari ran to the pilot's chair and started powering on his ship, flicking switches fast than he could see. "Woah Ari, let me sit down at least. Also, don't forget to notify the hanger control center, we don't want to hit the ceiling now."

"I know how to fly!" Ari snapped. Sam held up his hands in a calming gesture.

"I was just saying." Ari quickly conferred with the hanger the finish the last of the flight check, then turned back to look at me.

"Are you ready for the time of your life?" Sam gulped. This might have been a horrible idea after all.
