Chapter 7

The room went from being loud, to silence. All the eyes are on me, it as if they're looking into my soul, I wouldn't be surprised if they were. In the middle of the room, there's a metal pole. I don't remember seeing a pole when I was exiled, they had me sit on a chair tied up. "So he arrives, I see that you have your uniform so let us not worry about that. I understand that the head of the safe haven allowed you to come in and fight for the Imperial Army again. He did not decide on where you will stay at for your time here, we are here to decide that," One of the members announces.

"With all due respect, sir, I'm not staying anywhere luxurious," I reply with a cold stare.

"That may be true Zariath but, we do not approve of you being accepted into the safe haven. We will make your life a living hell, you may be powerful but you are not strong enough to take on all the members of this Conference Room," He threatens.

"Well, since you're so confident why don't you fight me? I win I get to stay, I lose, I'm back outside the wall. Fair?"

"Zariath, you will regret this, I am more powerful than you will ever be! It wouldn't be a fight, it would be an execut-"

"Then you don't have any problems then?" I interrupt, "If you're that confident, fight me damnit!" He stands us and draws his sword. "Fine, it's your funeral!" I give him a smile and unsheath my sword. He swings at me wildly, unpredictable. He's nothing like Amelia, I can't tell what he's going to do next.

I block his attacks and try to counter them, only to get sliced in the arm. "Tannok, give me power!" Eight different beings appear out of the thin air. They all have a two-handed sword, good, they're going to be slow. I run up to the one on the far right and swing at the being, he blocks the attack and grabs me by the face and pushes me back.

He winds up to swing, I duck under it and stab my sword into the being. I spin around, simultaneously, pulling my sword out and swing at the neck of the other being. I feel my blade make contact with the being. It slowly disappears, dissolving into the air. I duck and slice at the arm of the being that swung at me.

One minute I was standing on solid ground, the next, I'm flying through the air. The force of the impact causes me to bite my tongue, causing it to bleed. I stumble up and lean on my sword. "Rely on my strength Henry," I hear Yamata's voice echo in my head. I guess I can get serious now. "Yamata, give me your power!"

I feel the pain ease away, I feel faster, stronger, I haven't felt this power since I killed that elite. With my new found power I strike the beings down, shattering their swords. I turn to face the member, he doesn't hesitate at all and he rushes me. Big mistake. I block his strike and punch him across the room. In an instant I'm by him again, he slowly gets up. I point my sword at his throat, stopping him from moving forward.

"And you said it was my funeral," I say half-assed, I sheath my blade and walk away. Screaming caught my attention, I turn around to see the member running at me with his sword raised above his head. I side-step out of the way and grab him by the wrist and bring him to the ground. "Now then, are we done. I think I proved to everyone I'm more powerful than you'll ever be. Since I won, I'm allowed to stay here in the safety of the walls, correct?" I say in a deadly whisper.

He shakes his head, "Good," I say and pat his head and get up. "Now then, I think I proved myself, and as we agreed, I'll be staying here. I would like my own apartment, thank you!" I say with a grin.

"Fine Henry Zariath, you will have apartment number twelve on Riverside Road, now get out of my sight," one of the chairmen say. I give them a smile and walk out.

"What the hell were you thinking? You could've got kicked out!" I turn around to see Amelia.

"Well, I didn't. I never was going to lose to him, he was weak. I've killed vampires stronger than him, plus, have some faith in me, okay?" I say ignoring her glare. I turn around and walk off to my apartment. The apartment isn't much, definitely better than the shack I stayed at last night. The main hallway leads to a living room with a T.V stand. The bedroom is nice, white bedsheets on a bed that big enough for two. Well, this is my new life, a new beginning.
