UNDERGROUND RIVER

Last night Max already considered a possibility that the hole is the reason why he was sucked into the cave. The corpse of birds and small animals probably shared the same fate as him too.

He didn't have any other option. Outside the cave is a deep cliff and he possesses no method of climbing down or up safely.

Max drew the sword from his side and slowly stabbed into the black hole.

Thud!

As he inserting the sword half-through, a small sound can be heard. After the sound, the small cave shook. The hole slowly expanded bigger and bigger revealing a path inside.

"A mysterious path is hidden in a cave. That the plot for the secret treasure." Max smiled unknowingly.

Max without any hesitation walk into the dark path that seems endless. He cannot turn back to the steep cliff and wait for his death. He took the risk and ventured inside.

Max with Night Vision spell can easily see inside the dark. He traveled through the path and when met with an intersection, he just followed the left path as the left-hand rule apply.

After half an hour of walking and still no light in sight signaling the exit, he decided to return back to the cave. SECOND already mapped the entire path he has taken. He walked back.

Max actually really wanted to come out.

But he was lost. The map that SECOND recorded does not match with the path passed back.

In order to quench his curiosity, Max indeed had walked more than 1000 meters, and eventually came to a secret underground river linked to the pool. He tentatively ignored the meandering river, going to another route and in less than a few minutes, was lost.

After walking back for another half an hour, he arrived at the river again

The underground river was pitch-black and seemed to have a strange power that was swallowing up all the light here. With Max's eyesight, he could only see within 50 meters of him.

He thinking for a moment and then jumped into the river. The water only reached his waist level.

The current was rapid and powerful, and even with Max's present strength, it felt strenuous on him.

Adding to this the extremely cold water, like flowing black ice, that numbs the hands and feet. Fortunately, Max practices Ice Meditation Technique giving him the affinity with ice element which prevented him from being completely frozen solid.

"This underground river is strange. I can sense the radiation of mana here."

Max randomly walked around for a while, faintly perceiving the mystery and obscurity of this pitch-black underground world.

Soon his direction and bearings were in complete chaos.

Max for a moment was unable to tell which direction was east, south, west, and north.

The strangest thing was that, in this underground river, there was no such thing as a fish, shrimp, crab, or any other aquatic creature. It was like a world of death.

Finally, after about two hours later, Max himself also did not know how far he had traveled underground. It was starting to feel unbearable, he wanted to break the rocks, and directly leave through the rocky soil.

But at this moment, he suddenly, vaguely saw that, in the distance of the end of the iced water river channel, it seemed that there was a white brilliance flickering.

"Could it be that there is an exit from the underground river?"

With his heart pounding, Max immediately drifted along following the water current.

As he moved forward about a hundred meters, the light was increasingly stronger.

Max felt strange.

Because he could not feel the flow of the river. According to reason he should not have yet reached the exit of the underground river channel, how could there be such white light?

After advancing another thousand or so meters.

A white brilliance, like the bright moon, was sprinkling down on the river channel, beautiful and magnificent, making one feel an ecstasy of delight. He entering the wall of light

Max suddenly felt his body lightening.

He sprang out of the water.

"What the.., this is..." He couldn't help but exclaim.

"This place…" Max hurriedly inspected his surroundings. He himself was in a large, wide corridor that was a hundred meters tall and a hundred meters wide. When Max turned to look behind him, he was greatly shocked. Behind him was the exit to this corridor, but the outside was covered with a vast, endless amount of water. The water, however, was completely unable to enter this corridor, as though some sort of invisible screen was blocking out the water.

"What is going on?" Max carefully stepped over, an ice bird appearing in his hand. He sent it flying directly towards the water.

Chi!

The ice bird collided with an invisible barrier. No matter how he tried, he couldn't pierce through.

"I don't believe it." Max hurriedly took ten steps back, and then took out his long sword. Letting out a soft snort, his entire body began to be covered with a pale blue light. His sword is surrounded by ice mana becoming an ice sword.

"Secret Skill: Ice Slash!"

With a shout, he slashed the sword releasing an icy wave towards the barrier. This secret skill is the only offensive technique he learned from Uriel's sword technique manual.

A blue wave crashed onto the invisible barrier and then disappeared. The barrier does not swallow the sword attack, the blue wave gone before it reached the barrier.

"I'm trapped. Again!" Mas sighed. He chose to go through the dark passage and end up here because he wants to escape from the small cave. Now he cannot return back from where he came.

Max tried to attack the corridor wall just in case but the result is the same.

"This…" Max frowned, carefully inspecting this corridor yet again.

"The corridor alone is one hundred meters tall." Max looked through the invisible barrier into the boundless water outside. "I probably accidentally entered some kind of building. This building is definitely astonishingly large, at least multiple kilometers across. And it was built underwater or underground…"

"Am I still under the jungle area or already strayed to the rocky canyon.

Just like the wall at the small cave, SECOND's scanning cannot penetrate the wall. Max has no way on knowing his current location.
