A Month Before The Exam.

"This time I will surely not fail you, father."

Chase resolved himself, he is on his way to the river where he was trying to cultivate yesterday. Truthfully, his current cultivation is way behind compared to other students, after all he hasn't been able to cultivate until the other day. The entrance exam will be held next month and with his current strength, there is just no chance he will pass, that's why he need to catch up.

"Anyway, now that I'm able to cultivate, I will start with the very basics of cultivation."

Chase took out a worn out book, it was a book about Control of Spirit Energy and Refinement of Spirit Nerve, he opened the front cover and started reading the contents.

"Uhmmm... There are three types of Spirit Nerve, first is Shepherd's Nerve, it's a type of Spirit Nerve that does not attract Spirit Energy so a person possesing a Shepherd's Nerve has to Meditate regularly to fill it with Spirit Nerve if they reached a certain age, this type of Spirit Nerve is very common. The second type is the Royal Nerve, this type of Spirit Nerve automatically attracts Spirit Energy around them, someone who posseses this type of Spirit Nerve are someone who has superior physical body and if they meditate and start cultivating instead of warm feeling they will feel something flowing within them, meaning they have strong attraction to Spirit Energy and it's usually condensed Spirit Energy that will flow towards their Spirit Nerve directly, Royal Nerve is very rare."

Chase read the content of the book, it first introduces what cultivation is but he skipped it, he then found a page explaining the types of Spirit Nerve.

"Ohh, maybe I possess Royal Nerve since I was able to stay alive until now even though I haven't been able to gather Spirit Energy. I also feel something flowing to me when I meditated yesterday, so it's condensed Spirit Energy and here I thought it was something different, so I called it Spirit Essence

Chase realizing that he made a mistake, scratched his head. He thought that the water-like feeling entering his body was something different and so he called it Spirit Essence. But why did I not been able to cultivate until yesterday? such question appeared in his mind, it is a mystery how he wan't able to cultivate when he turned 10, but it's no use thinking about it now, he thought. He then continued reading the contents.

"The third type is, Dra-...!?"

As he proceed to read the third type, he then saw a torn page, he flipped it to see if there's something on the back... there was nothing.

"It can't be helped, it is an old book. If that bald teacher gave me the newest release of book, then I wouldn't be having such curiousity."

Chase sighed, he blamed the teacher who lend him the book. Though, he was curious about the last type, there's nothing he could do since the teachers didn't let him borrow the newest book because the thought he wouldn't be able to learn a thing anyway. Chase who was dejected flipped the page to the next one, since the last one was the only page torn, the rest are all okaybto read."

"Hmm, it says here that Refining your Spirit Nerve is the the most important factor in Cultivation. Filling up your Spirit Nerve with Spirit Energy again and again will increase it's Spirit Energy capacity."

Every people has Spirit Nerve and each one of the Spirit Nerve has Spirit Energy Capacity, at first, the capacity of a Spirit Nerve is very small, meaning you can only store a small amount of Spirit Energy in your Spirit Nerve. But according to the book, increasing it's capacity is possible and there's are Steps written in the book.

"To increase your Capacity, one has to fill the Spirit Nerve to the brim with Spirit Energy then release that energy at the same time it's filled. Doing this will stimulate the Spirit Nerve to expand it's capacity, the reason is because the Spirit Nerve has to circulate a specific amount of Spirit Energy in the body, so if the Spirit Energy stored within it is used almost instantly, it will need to adapt and expand it's capacity so running out of Spirit Energy will not happen again."

Well that's easy to understand, Chase thought. He then sat down to try what was written in the book, he inhaled then exhaled, the condensed Spirit Energy, the Energy he previously called Spirit Essence, is slowly entering his body but, there is one problem, again.

"This again? Why can't I connect the Spirit Energy to my Spirit Nerve? Oh, that's right."

Chase remembered that yesterday, he was able to connect the Spirit Energy to his Spirit Nerve because he was tired, he then concluded that he has to be tired to start cultivating. He then lied down facing the ground, he pushed his body with his hands in front of his chest, he started doing push ups. A few minutes later he became tired, well that was his goal.

"Hah, hah, now, this should work. "

Exhausted from doing push ups, Chase sat down again and started meditating. Since he's exhausted, the Spirit Energy should directly flow towards his Spirit Nerve, that's what Chase expected since he has tested it yesterday. Chase calmed his breathing, the Spirit Essence started to enter his body, but... it did not flow towards his Spirit Nerve.

"Why!?"

Chase was confused, why did it not flow towards his Spirit Nerve despite being tired? Chase was frustated, maybe I really am a failure, he thought. Or...

"Or, maybe being tired is not a trigger so I can cultivate, maybe being tired has no connection to cultivating."

Chase opened the book again, he flip pages after pages and stopped.

"There it is! It say's here that once your Spirit Nerve is filled, it will stop recieving Spirit Energy even if one meditates for hours, it won't accept the Spirit Energy until the Spirit Energy stored within decreased. I knew it, HaHaHa."

Chase stand up and remembered that yesterday, he was able to cultivate not because he's tired but the reason is that, he had expended the Spirit Energy within him by throwing a rock miles away.

"So, that's why I was able to throw that stone far away and was able to move fast."

The other day, he also experience something unnatural, when he thought that something was trying to attack him, he tried to run only to find himself covering a distance of 30 meters in a single step, later he learned that the creature that running towards him was a Portal Rabbit.

"Let's try it."

Chase picked up a stone, he tried to control the Spirit Energy that is already stored within him. He tried to direct it to his right arm which was holding the stone, but controlling Spirit Energy seems to be not that easy, Chase failed to direct the Spirit Energy, it's normal since it's his first time controlling Spirit Energy that is already within him, he had only tried guiding the condensed Spirit Energy that was entering his body.

"The book... there should be a guide on how to control Spirit Energy."

Chase flipped the pages again and stopped at the page that has a written steps on controlling Spirit Energy.

"Hmm.. It says here that it's easy to guide Spirit Energy to your Spirit Nerve, but controlling the Spirit Nerve within is difficult. I know that..."

Chase pouted, he flipped to the next page because the current page was full of introduction, it actually does not help to problem.

"Oh here it is! It says that, to control the Spirit Energy within, there are three main steps you have to follow. First, you have to improve your physical body by training. By training your body, you will be able to expel impurities in your body, this will help the Spirit Energy to circulate around your body. The second one is always meditate, feel the nature's presence, feel thd Spirit Energy in the surrounding. And the last main step is, learning how to calm your mind, a peerless mind, one that does not let the world desire devour you.

Chase read the steps one by one, while reading it, he creates a plan in his mind on how he will follow those steps.

"Well, that looks pretty Eyasey!! Wait, what!?"

Chase looked at the book, he thought that was all he has to follow, he never expected that there are still 'SPECIFIC' steps to follow so he can pass Three Main Steps. Now that he look closely, there are almost hundred specific steps for each one of the Main Steps, Chase felt that at this moment he feels like he wants to cry, how am I supposed to finish this all in a month? he thought.

"No, this is necessary for me to improve. The entrance exam will be held next month, I shouldn't waste my time complaining."

Chase wiped the tears building up in his eyes, then he read the rest of the steps. After that, he obediently followed each step perfectly, and in no time a month has passed.
