As the sound of footsteps stopped, a torrent of words started to flow out of Shen Xiu's lips.
A lot of teachers were averse to discussing basics at the start of the lesson. It was fairly normal for them, because this way they could measure the range of the student's intellect.
The topics Shen Xiu discussed revolved around demon spiritualists, fighters, cultivation ranks, demon beasts, and how this world works. Anyone in this world knew that power and strength stand at the top of the food chain, and death was considered normal.
However, Xiao Yan was not here to lent his ears to her.
Xiao Yan, on the chair was scanning his surroundings with eyes filled with satisfaction and a little embarrassment. He noticed that Nie Li and the some other students were still staring at him in a dormant state. It seemed a little lonely, and a little odd, to have them stare at him motionless like that.
"I think I should respond at them."
Xiao Yan recalled the ways he did before, he then looked toward them before lightly smiling.
As one, Nie Li, and the other students immediately averted their gazes away.
Xiao Yan then stared openly at Xiao Ning'er, who was by his side. Though he had sat next to her, she did not notice that his eyes were tracking her.
"I knew Xiao Ning'er was stunningly beautiful based from the novel, but she is much more gorgeous in personal."
All Xiao Yan knew about her character was that she was a genius from the declining Winged Dragon Family, as well as having an illness that had been painfully struggling her for years.
Driven by curiosity, Xiao Yan began to search his head, remembering through the details about Xiao Ning'er's sickness.
A flood of densely-packed memories filled his head. It was like watching a movie. If he took his time to remember it in detail, he would probably still be doing it until the class ended.
Xiao Yan felt like he had stepped on a landmine. If he could move, he would have been trembling now.
He wanted to scold himself for having forgotten Xiao Ning'er's Arctic Disease. Her illness was caused by her unappropriate low-grade cultivation technique.
However, since he had already remembered it, he had to be a man, and find a way to cure her disease.
He then skimmed through his memories about the important points on how to cure her.
Numerous solutions rose up in his mind, floating on a sea of uneasiness, but Xiao Yan forced aside all these emotions. In the end, he remembered the only solution for her disease. He glanced briefly to Xiao Ning'er, then Xiao Yan steeled himself and decided to do his best on healing her.
After remembering everything important, Xiao Yan's mind settled, satisfied.
"She is a pretty hardworking girl."
He could not help but stare at her again.
"...Eh?"
A cry of surprise escaped Xiao Yan's delicate lips. Xiao Ning'er had noticed his stare. She looked at him over several times, eyes filled with suspicion, but in the end, she could not find any other meaning to his stare. After several rounds of thought, she could only come to the conclusion that he was just observing everyone.
Xiao Yan lowered his head in an embarrassing gesture.
"A mistake… it must have annoyed her of some sort."
❄ ❄ ❄
After about ten minutes, the torrent of words that flowed from Shen Xiu were interrupted by a student's voice.
The air changed.
Although the atmosphere from earlier was filled with quiet solemnity, the scene before his eyes now exceeded that by far. The air became a pressure that weighed on the entire body.
Xiao Yan glanced at the fuming Shen Xiu and the silent students, and then at Nie Li behind him.
Nie Li was smiling. It was a cunning smile, it seemed to be concealing something else behind it. As he wondered what that "something else" might be, unease crept through Xiao Yan.
"What's this? Did he reborn already?"
Several memories ran through his mind, like being hit by loose change that fell from the sky, but in the end Xiao Yan found his answer.
"...Ah."
Although, even if he really did reborn, Xiao Yan still had to confirm it.
During Nie Li and Shen Xiu's brief exchange, Xiao Yan could already tell that Nie Li had already been reborn, from the tone of his voice.
The latter possibility was more likely.
Would it be fine to change the plot of the story based on a personal decision? After thinking about it for some time, Xiao Yan came to a conclusion.
"Should I change it?"
Currently, with the knowledge about the future in his possession, this situation could be considered easy for him. It should be all right to exercise some changes in the story.
Xiao Yan's doubts vanished like mist, as he steeled himself to right the wrongs of the story.
With that conclusion in mind, Xiao Yan rose from his chair and went beside Nie Li, followed by Lu Piao and Du Ze.
"Forgive me Teacher Shen Xiu, but I disagree with your opinion that commoners will always be commoners. I forgot to tell you that I don't have family, so I may be considered much lower than a commoner."
Xiao Yan turned his eyes from Shen Xiu, who was going on and on about how this was nothing compared to the pain of losing her pride, and began thinking about how to temporarily silence her, and then he suddenly knew how to do it.
To Xiao Yan, who wielded the knowledge about the happenings in this world, it was as simple and natural as breathing.
He could not help but laugh at the strange situation he found himself in. After all the shocks and surprises he had received so far, this was hardly worth panicking about. It was frightening how well he had adapted to his condition.
"Teacher Shen Xiu, I'm already a 5-star Bronze rank Fighter."
Learning this fact shocked Shen Xiu and the students so greatly that they could not speak.
"Gaaah..."
A cry that sounded like a wail crept into Xiao Yan's ears.
From whose mouth had that sound come? It came from Shen Xiu and some of the students.
At the very least, all of the people in this room were now exhibiting anomalous behavior.
Xiao Yan was not the sort of person who made a habit of speaking impolitely to his teacher. However… hearing Shen Xiu's arrogant words instinctively made him want to respond with defiance. Her movements, her speech patterns, her whole being radiated an undeniable arrogance.
He shifted his gaze to Shen Xiu.
Xiao Yan saw himself reflected within Shen Xiu's moist bluish eyes. Her cheeks were pink, probably because her body was rapidly heating up. The changes in her body surprised him.
"...What's this? Is she angry?"
Impossible.
Xiao Yan shook his head in denial. There was no way he had offended her. Xiao Yan was now not sure how to proceed given the changes in Shen Xiu.
The next step… yes, the final step. If he could do that, then all of his efforts would be vindicated. It was worth it right, or was it not?
He had to do this. If she attacked him with that powerful hands of hers, it could not be helped.
"Teacher Shen Xiu… I, may I have a bet with you also?"
"Eh?"
The air between them seemed to freeze.
Shen Xiu's eyes went wide.
A wave of depression washed over Xiao Yan as he considered his words.
"I have to do this," what the hell was he thinking, saying that to a teacher? He wanted to scream "Despicable!" at the top of his voice. Indeed, using one's situation to commit harassment was the most despicable thing imaginable.
But he had no choice. Indeed, he had to do this.
As Xiao Yan convinced himself with all his strength, his composure gradually returned to him. Resuming the air of a handsome gentleman, he continued forcefully:
"That... should be fine, right?"
It was not fine at all.
In contrast to Xiao Yan's nervous request, Shen Xiu seemed to be overflowing with joy. She gave him a glittering smile.
"But of course, Student Xiao Yan. Please, state your bet."
Shen Xiu straightened herself up, presenting her ample twin peaks for Xiao Yan's inspection. If he had not controlled himself, he would have swallowed several times by now.
Her breasts swelled up through her dress.
On the other side of his abnormal tension and nervousness, a quiet, calm part of Xiao Yan's brain was observing his own actions. He noted how foolish he was, and wondered why he had thought of this, and why he was still going to follow through anyway.
He sneaked a peek at Shen Xiu, and found that her eyes were shining, jiggling her bosom as though to say "Hurry up and state your bet."
Not knowing whether it was because of excitement or embarrassment, Xiao Yan steadied his mind with sheer will, steeled his resolve, and voiced out.
