Mark and Amelia spent hours just looking through the different talents, at which point the sky was starting to darken, and they hadn't even seen all of the talents. They stopped because they realized that staying here was a worse alternative than checking out the talents in a safer environment, such as the tent in the alleyway.
Their life wasn't in danger here, as their soul would return to their body completely intact after being destroyed, but it would still hurt. Mark could handle most pains, but he didn't want Amelia to have to experience pain.
To leave they pressed the button on the rings that they were wearing, and they once again felt a warping feeling. The scenery of strange pillars of 'laws' as Pass called it distorted into nothingness as they returned to their bodies. When they opened their eyes, they were staring at the roof of their tent.
"You said we could increase our connection to those talents, right?" Amelia questioned Pass as she remembered how much weaker her affinity to fire was when compared to Mark's water affinity. Just imagining the awesome move Mark was able to use thanks to his affinity, she had to increase her own affinity.
[Correct]
"Then max out my fire affinity!" She exclaimed without consulting Mark.
[Deducted 1040 SP and maximizing Fire Affinity]
Fire Affinity: 100%
-Perks: Mana cost reduction, Power increase, Dual casting, Triple casting…
-Obtained perks: Mana cost reduction X, Power increase X, Limitless casting
Mark wasn't angry at her decision; he had wanted to do the same thing for her, but he still wanted to tease her.
"You were quite quick to take action, huh," he said with a small smile. Amelia didn't respond though, for she was intent on seeing everything her perk did. Noticing that she wasn't responding, he dejectedly waited at her side.
Pass had made it so that explanations would appear if they mentally willed them to, that way he didn't have to verbally explain everything. Amelia was checking every part of her affinity to make sure that it didn't lose out to Mark's.
Everything looked fine, and in her opinion, awesome, but when Mark looked it over he something that he didn't think he would. She got 'Limitless casting' just like he did, but he was pretty sure she didn't even have a profession.
"Is it because of our souls?" He thought aloud. It would be great if she could get the benefits of the class without having to have it, he thought.
[Yes, your soul's connection has caused the profession to affect both of you, though the effect is weaker on Amelia] Pass answered since it sounded like Mark was asking him.
"Oh, that's good," he said. 'Come to think of it, shouldn't she get a class as well?' The thought occurred when he remembered that he had an innate class before his class evolved, so he thought that everyone would have one. His train of thought didn't continue for long since he quickly decided that if she didn't have one that he would make sure to help her get one.
Amelia was done looking at her improved affinity, and she was now deciding what else to improve with the remaining SP. It felt like a waste to have it just laying around. 'Why leave it when we can use it to make ourselves stronger now?' She reasoned.
"Hey Mark, what do you think we should improve?" She asked Mark as she still browsed the talents, which seemed to never end even after Pass filtered them.
"How about Potion brewing," he suggested after seeing how puny his skill was in it.
"Do you actually want to keep making potions?" She asked. She had thought that he had only been making potions to earn money, but it might be that he actually enjoyed it.
"*Hmm*, I kind of do. It was fun learning how to make different kinds of potions, and we earned money from it, so I think I'll keep brewing potions," he answered after a little thought into their time selling potions.
"Okay, let's get you better talent in it then!" Amelia happily smiled.
"From what I've seen, it looks like our talents improve depending on how much we use them, so I only want to increase it a little," Mark said. He wanted to enjoy the process, not breeze through it. Plus, they don't even know how much it takes to improve talents.
"Pass, increase it to 10% please," his voice sounded happy, probably because he could see Amelia smiling at his side.
[Deducted 700 SP]
Potion Brewing: 10%
-Perks: Dual Brewing, …, Effect improvement, Herb identification, Perfect brewing.
-Obtained Perks: Effect improvement I, Herb identification I
From the explanation that appeared when he mentally asked for it, Mark learned what the perks did. Effect improvement did just that, improve the effect of potions that were brewed. Herb identification also did as its name implied, help identify herbs. With herb identification he would be able to tell the effects and attributes of herbs with just his eyes. The higher the rank of identification, the more he'd know.
"There's still so much left over," Amelia contemplated on what to spend the points on. She clapped her hands together and the smile on her face grew larger.
"That's it right there," she pointed, mentally, but her soul only moved in the general direction of where she was pointing.
"What is it?" Mark asked curiously.
"Your about to find out," she said with a mischievous smirk, "Pass, spend the remaining points to get my new profession, Devourer."
