The Grand awakening

Bruce opened his eyes and saw his Dad standing at the head of the mat. In his hands were two cones that could fit onto one's head. On these cones were inscribed HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Bruce was estatic about today, it was the day he turned 10yrs and it was also the day he unlocked his spirit soul, advancing from mere childhood to being a warrior, one who would be able to fight for himself, defend himself and even his dad who lacked a spirit soul.

He jumped and hugged his father, " I love you dad", "I love you too" Bobby smiled at his son, motioning towards a table set for two. From the look of things one could say Bobby had quite prepared for this day. Bobby silently wished the best for his son, he had a feeling that he son would be great, he just knew his son was destined for greatness.

Bruce quickly retrieved his brush and began combing his mouth, using several methods to ensure his teeth was prepared for meal. It was a culture to brush before eating, this was how Bruce was brought up and he was willing to follow these rules up to the peak, after all, this is all his dad could offer, advise. If there was nothing else then he would uphold this one with all his strength and might.

After a refreshing meal with his father, he had a shower down, he put on the best clothes he had, arranged his hair in the best way he could. He was not in a haste and wasn't willing to rush, Bobby himself wasn't rushing to anywhere today, he was going to join his son and celebrate their victory after the awakening.

After the both had prepared exquisitely, then they decided to take a walk to see the beauty of the streets and corners before Bruce became a warrior.

After walking a long distance, the two were becoming exhausted, they decided on a shortcut. Both turned into an alley, still heated in discussions of what Bruce spirit soul would be. "I love birds, I would love to have an eagle as my spirit soul". "Eagles are not particularly strong, why don't you have a lion or a bear or a leopard, rarrrrrh!" they two laughed and kept moving.

Until they were surrounded, they didn't know. Bruce stormed into a youth, he looked up and apologized, with the intention of moving forward, Bruce was blocked again. Now Bobby realized everything, Bruce hadn't stormed into that youth by mistake the youth had blocked Bruce. This gang literally were one of those groups of people who refused to find jobs or do lucrative things to earn money, they simply waited at specific corners to snatch money and other valuables from people who were helpless.

Obviously, the gang that had surrounded Bobby and Bruce were bandits, these kind of thieves didn't mind inflicting injuries on those who refused to succumb to their demands.

Bobby pulled Bruce behind him to protect his son, at this point they had been far into the alley, so running was not a choice. They youth Infront revealed a cold sneer, he then bellowed at Bobby, "just the goodies and your free to go, no harm to you and little punny over there" he pointed at Bruce and laughed. His companions also joined in the laughter. Bobby didn't reveal any sign of fear, instead he was ready to defend himself and his son even if it was to his last drop of blood. "very well then" the youth said. He looked at his companions and gave them a nod. They all rushed towards Bobby and Bruce.

Bobby's wife had died in his very front and he was helpless about the situation, he couldn't find a job because of his lack of qualifications, he hadn't sent Bruce to school because he lacked the financial resources to do so, but now all his son needed from him was protection. If he couldn't also offer protection to his children, what kind of father would he be?? Nature had used him as a pun all this while, it felt like he could never be anything but after many years of savings, he had finally gathered the amount of money he needed to help his son unlock his spirit soul yet he was attacked by bandits, just what kind of situation was this??

Bobby pushed Bruce towards the nearest wall and engaged himself in battle. The first person had two daggers appear in both hands and from the look of things, he was quite skilled in the arts of war. He brandished his daggers and in the split of a second he had arrived before Bobby, stabbing the daggers towards his sides, Bobby quickly evaded the attack with good footwork, the daggers missing him by merely 3 centimetres. Just as he turned an axe was aimed for his hand. Bobby side stepped immediately accurately dodging the axe. He then counter attacked with two swift punches from both hands, knocking out the first bandit.

Bruce watched from a distance how the whole event played out, he had started receiving battle lessons but hadn't undergone any practicals yet, if he were to partake in this battle, he might not even come out alive.

Bobby kept on dodging and counter attacking, but he didn't have a spirit soul so this kind of method was definitely going to wear him out no matter how one looked at it. It was a battle between over five bandits, yet one man without a spirit soul was supposed to emerge victorious, just how would that be possible??

Bobby right now was sweating, if this battle didn't end anytime soon, he might not come out alive. All the people he was facing presently were heavily armed and only a few were normal humans. Some already had spirit souls and here was he using brute strength to try and defeat those with spirit souls. This was a pipe dream, all Bobby could pray for right now was a miracle.

Then suddenly, he remembered that he had been an enemy of nature. Even if miracles usually happened it was an impossibility in his own situation, some people were not just destined for greatness no matter how hard they strived to succeed.

As the battle between spirit souls and techniques went on, it was obvious to were this battle was headed. Bruce began to panic from the sidelines, Bobby was loosing strength and the bandits had already started laying punches on his face. Bobby was already bleeding from his nose and mouth.

Bruce immediately picked up a stone and threw it at one the bandits who turned furiously, finding out it was a kid, he just turned back his face and went on with the beating he was unleashing on Bobby. The leader of the bandits then checked Bobby's pocket and pulled out the colongs that were meant for Bruce's awakening ceremony. When Bruce saw this his eyes widened with rage as he started towards where the bandits were, just as he was about to jump into action, a bandit knocked him down with the hilt of his Barton. Bruce fell unconscious.

The bandits leader then waved for them to be finished, walking away from the scene. The other bandit had a dagger appear on his right arm as he lounged it into bobby's heart.

Bobby then opened his eyes, pain feeling his heart. Right now, all he could see were memories, he remembered all the times he saw Bruce study, he remembered all the times Bruce snored beside him, Bruce was his only child and Bobby didn't even posses any spirit soul to be able to save himself, it would just be better to leave this world with his son, but without his son, the spirit of his wife was bound to hunt him. Bruce was all his wife had left him, yet here he was dying in the face of his son. He looked at the bandit who had just stabbed him, blood trickled from his nose, at this point blood began to come out of his mouth, and he could barely breathe. The bandit then walked up to Bruce who laid unconscious on the ground, stared at Bruce for while and retrieved his dagger, walking away from the two.

Bruce then woke up, blood dripping from his head, he rushed to Bobby who laid 4 metres away from him, "Dad! Dad!!" Bruce began to weep Bobby then raised his hand and placed it on his son's head, "you know I love you?" Bruce nodded in response, tears still gushing from his eyes, "pr.... promise me you will un.....un..." Bobby's hand fell to the ground.

"Dad!! Dad!!!, Noooooo..." Bruce screamed so loud that the sound became the roar of a dragon. His eyes were red with anger. He wasn't born to meet his mom, his dad had just struggled to raise him with the absence of a woman in his life. Bobby had to toil just to make sure they survived, his dad had already become old even though he was young, yet this was how he chose to leave him. Alone in this dark colony. Bruce dragged his dad towards the nearest road shouting for help, nobody even gave him a stare, after all, this was not the first time someone was dying. They had seen worst death than that.

Without the assistance of anyone, Bruce dragged his father back to the room, at this point it was already 5pm he quickly emptied his savings box and ran towards the awakening chambers.
