What is happening?

Bruce ran as fast as his legs could carry him, he kept running until his heels were touching his back. Today was supposed to be a day of celebration wasn't it?? Wasn't dad supposed to be here with him, wasn't dad supposed to take him to the awakening, wasn't dad supposed to rejoice with him after he awakened his spirit soul? just what was going on?

Right now, he had to go alone. Not just that, he had to run alone to the awakening chambers. Maybe greatness wasn't just destined for himself.

Bruce kept thinking, with tears rolling from his eyes, he was running desperately. The tears didn't roll down his cheeks, the went to side of his ear, because of the wind. However, who even cares where the tears roll to? Bruce wasn't slightly bothered. He had lost his father and mother just in his childhood, what would become of him in the future??

He arrived Infront of a building, it wasn't a very big building, but there were security guards Infront of the building, this was a sign that the building was very important. The building was painted white and red, these colours were a bit odd right? why had they chosen it? well, this wasn't the slightest of Bruce worries, all that mattered now was the awakening and nothing else.

As he was about to step into the building, a large hand stopped him, Bruce turned to face the figure that had just stopped him, the figure was huge and we'll built. This figure had the muscles on his body distributed evenly. If the person standing Infront of Bruce were to release a single punch on Bruce, he will die instantly. "how may I help you sir?", " I want to awaken my spirit soul" Bruce replied, the man then looked behind Bruce trying to find a guardian or something, but it was obvious that Bruce hadn't come with any, so the man just stepped out of the way, after all the kid was too small to harm an emperor.

These guards outside had been here because of the soul emperor, they are usually assigned by the colony to guard the emperors. Emperors were very important in a colony, infact once a child is born an emperor, the colony immediately takes up the duty of parenting the child, catering and hospitality becomes their job until the child is overage. Once the child is capable, he is assigned guards to take care of him and the child is automatically given the job of awakening.

One could say soul emperors are born royalty, because of the privileges the come to enjoy, but they could also be called prisoners of the soul. Soul emperors are born into luxury but the tend to have only one path in life: The awakening. Nothing else guarantees for the job except one is a soul emperor. This is why the weren't taken lightly by the colonies. If a colony had sufficient soul emperors, the cost of awakening will become relatively cheap and the death rate will reduce significantly boosting the economy, but when soul emperors are few this is usually the result. The colony hadn't sufficient soul emperors so it was ready to defend the few it had no matter the cost.

When Bruce got into the colony, he was quickly accompanied by a receptionist to a small room to wait. In that room, other kids were visibly waiting. It was obvious that he wasn't the only one born on this day he had other birth mates, but of all of them he happened to be the only one with a loss on this day. His history was bloody and full of pain and trauma. It then clicked in his head, when he was born, his mother died. Ten years later, his father died what would happen when he turned twenty??

He just waved the possibility of such out of his head. He had already suffered alot why would nature wish to take another person from him?

Bruce observed something about the room, all the kids that were present in the room had a guardian or came with a parent but he was seated all alone. He then leaned his head backwards and rested it on the wall behind him. "Next", the receptionist called, another child entered with his parents.

After another thirty minutes, it was Bruce turn. When he entered the room, he saw a middle-aged man dressed in white robes seated on a golden chair, the room was dazzling, it illuminated a bright yellow colour and the aura in the room was quite relaxing that Bruce nearly forgot he had lost his dad.

Three seconds after Bruce had entered, the emperor kept staring at the door, nothing happened. He then asked Bruce, "where is your guardian?", Bruce looked astonished, how did that even matter? "I don't have one sir!" he responded in a sober tone. The emperor then shook his head and responded in a hoarse tone "you can't complete this process without a guardian, your guardian has to sign this document!" showing Bruce a paper. "my dad was killed on my way here." pointing to the blood on his head. He didn't know when he started crying again. The emperor looked at him in pity and asked again, "isn't there someone that can sign a shawty for you?" The thought of Lisa flashed his head, he quickly waved it out of his head. She is the sole reason he is here. If she wasn't paying him, he wouldn't even think about the awakening, all the money he had presently was because of her and he was with everything she had given him. He had to sink everything he had in this process just so he could unlock his spirit soul. Yet right now this emperor was asking for a guardian. "can't I do it on my own??" Bruce asked. "Am sorry child I can't help you, please you can step out thanks" he emperor sounded arrogant. This was how they all were Bruce thought to himself. They were all full of themselves, what was there in signing a single paper.

Bruce stormed out of the chambers and headed for the firm. The time was already fast spent, it was 7pm already and he hadn't unlocked his soul yet.

He kept running, although he was tired and stressed out, there was nothing he could do, he just needed to endure a little longer. Bruce arrived at the firm thirty minutes later, the only person he saw was the security man trying to lock the gate. He then stopped the man and asked questions to get the address of Lisa, but it was to no avail. Bruce then turned round and knelt down crying. So this was how it was all going to end, dad dies then few hours later I join him?

The security man then called out to him " I could give her a dial, I think your quite fortunate to have met me here". Bruce then lightened up a bit. The security man then dialed Lisa's contact trying to contact her from the little device in his hand that looked like a phone. 3 beeps came from the device in his hands and cut. He tried again two more times, but the same thing happened. What was going on?? why was he so unlucky today?

The security man then sighed and waved his head towards Bruce and said "sorry kid, looks like today is not your lucky day. By the way, why are you so in a haste to see her??" Bruce then explained everything to him. All he did was sympathize with Bruce without offering aid or assistance. Just as they were about to part ways, a call came through. It was Lisa who had called. The man then turned to call Bruce who had already disappeared into the darkness.

Bruce arrived back at the chambers. He has no choice right now, all that was on his mind was the fact that he had nothing to live for. Even if he had a life not unlocking his spirit soul itself was death. He waited for everyone present to finish before he entered the room once again. The emperor then looked at him again with disdain "your such a stubborn kid! Don't you get this procedure?? a guardian needs to sign this document." The emperor scolded him again. Time was not on his side. Right now, time wasn't even the problem. Even if he had time, there was no guardian.

It was already 11:30pm, the emperor was preparing his things to leave the chambers. Then as he looked up he saw a lady walk into the room. "how may I be of assistance??" he asked coldly. "I am his guardian", she pointed at Bruce.

When Bruce heard, he looked up immediately and before him was Lisa. She had come to his rescue, even when all hope was lost she still arrived. Bruce got up from where he was seated and hugged Lisa so tightly "Thank you" Bruce said.

"Shall we begin??" The emperor bellowed.
