Chapter 10: A new beginning

Oblivious to everything that happened in the meadows, the tribe of the rising sun and Aren began making tents that would serve as a place to sleep until they built suitable cabins to live. They took advantage of the trees in the forest to make their camp.

Once the camp was done, Aren and the council gathered around the bonfire of the camp.

-then Aren we will do now- the first to speak was Haiden. Although Aren was the current leader of the tribe, he asked them not to address him with such formality as it made him feel uncomfortable, which is why the rest of the council continued to speak as before.

-Well first of all it will be to make a plan for how to develop the new village- everyone nodded at what was mentioned by Aren.

-my first objective is to distribute the land that we have to start with the cultivation of food, as well as the development plan of a mine at the foot of the mountains-

-but we will have enough people to be able to make a mine- as declared by Aren, Mors asked.

-To be honest, the lack of manpower is the main problem of our tribe, right now we have about 150 people, of which 70 are men and the rest are women, but the good thing is that all men are young and not exceed 30 years-

Due to the previous war the majority of elderly people died during this war. And the percentage of women was higher in the majority of prairie tribes.

-If it had been before we could do more things- before the mentioned by Haiden all could only agree with regret and sadness.

-well for the moment women with more than 12 years will be responsible for preparing the land for cultivation, this group will be joined by 20 men who will do most of the heavy work-

-But Aren, despite the fact that men are young there are still many children-

-You are right Mors, these twenty men will be half over 16 and the rest will be the children over 10. As for the rest of men 15 will be responsible for cutting the trees that both help the group in charge of cultivation and finally the rest of the men will be in charge of making forges near the mountain to be able to have the minerals at hand-

-But Aren, from what I've seen these mountains despite seeing some copper on the surface, I do not think they have tin-in Mors's doubt, Aren answered him.

-I'm not thinking about making bronze Mors, what I'm thinking is making iron-

-iron!!! Aren you know very well how difficult it is to make the iron - before what Aren said, Mors could not help exclaiming.

-If it is difficult to make iron, Mors. First of all we need to heat the ore at higher temperatures than copper or tin-

-It is Aren, I have only heard that the only ones that work with iron are the dwarves of the Altair mountains, since they have coal mines, which are very scarce-

The majority of the settlement used copper and tin to make bronze for their needs, this was because they were quite abundant. It was known the knowledge of iron thanks to the dwarves who were the only race that worked with this metal, needing a higher temperature to melt the iron, and this was achieved thanks to the coal from the mines. But coal was scarce, so only dwarves who could dig deep mines to get coal could work with this metal.

-Don't worry Mors, is a method to obtain coal and also a new type of furnace for metals that will increase the efficiency of the forging of objects-

Mors was still hesitating at Aren's words, but he saw how Yoru looked at him and decided to believe in Aren.

-What I wanted to focus on now was the cultivation of the land- Aren continued the conversation to see that Mors did not continue asking.

Aren was sure that they would be impressed by the plans he had for the village and its development.

At the meeting they decided the land where they would grow. It was decided that they would do it a few meters from the river. In order to start, they would have to cut down the trees that were on the road.

Despite the doubts about the plan of cultivation of Aren. Both Mors, Haiden and Yoru decided to believe in Aren's plans. Which in his opinion were different from what had always been done in the prairies. But Aren wanted to avoid one of the biggest problems of the prairies in relation to crops. This was precisely the same problem that caused the war that takes place in the prairies. The loss of fertility in farmland. Aren wanted to avoid having to change location every time the farmland lost its fertility and therefore I make a plan which would end this problem.
