CHAPTER 126: MY FAMILY

She felt alive, aware of every scent, every colour, the breeze on her skin. Leigh closed her eyes, taking the beauty of just living into her, storing it.

When she opened her eyes again, Lars Anders loomed over her. He grabbed her bare arm roughly and shoved his sneer down close to her face.

"So you sent Jarek to collect your money, did you? I might have known not to trust you, you slut."

Taken by surprise and disgusted by the alcohol on Lars breath, Leigh stepped back. "What?"

"If you want him safe, you come to my place and make me happy."

She knew that Jarek had won the last brawl, but she feared that Lars might start another. "Leave me alone, unless you want real trouble. I won't hesitate to call the police."

"Oh, a tigress, huh? Maybe Jarek doesn't know how to handle a real woman, but I do. And I know what bad publicity can do to a business. You want trouble? I can give you that."
