CHAPTER 127: FAMILY IS FAMILY

The statements were wild, accusatory and even as Leigh hurled them at him, she knew they were wrong—that they came from somewhere deep inside her, to conceal the real depth of her emotions. She hadn't had such wild, fierce emotions or need to control them—until now, when they were controlling her, shocking her.

Jarek's face lacked expression, his lips firmly pressed together, that ridge of muscle tensing in his throat. He slowly removed bills from his wallet and gave them to her.

Then he turned and walked away from her, his back rigid. Leigh shook, stunned and horrified by her wild accusations, the terror that Ryan might have drowned still wrapped around her. Whatever she and Jarek had, it was now dead. As could as she felt inside.

She held her head high, ignoring Lars's sneer as she passed. He'd seen everything, the ugliness erupt in her and Jarek's chilling reaction.
