"Hello JJ, I am the familiar crystal. Open your eyes," a voice filled my ears, forcing me to open my eyes. In front of me was a bright brilliant light that changed colour each passing second.
"I am here to bring you a familiar, but first, are you aware of what they are?" the strange voice that I couldn't picture to anyone I knew, spoke.
"No," I replied, shaking my head.
"A familiar is an animal that can do whatever you wish them to do, you make a contract with them for life and they help you. For example each familiar has a different skill or set of skills depending on how strong your or the familiar is. Familiars with a fire skill can help you with your stand against heat or enable you to use a small amount of fire element through your own element or skill set. Or a water one can give you the ability to breathe underwater. Etc. Now when a familiar chooses it's partner is all depends on the partners personality and skill. Let's meet yours now, shall we?" the voice stopped talking and the light exploded out, the dining room returned and I found myself lying on the floor with my head on someone's knees, JoeJoe's face popped up.
"How're you?" she asked as she helped me sit back up.
"I...actually feel perfectly fine, all my aching has gone and the ringing has stopped," I smiled as I stretched my shoulder and stood back up. The table that had frozen had defrosted again.
"Where's your familiar?" I asked JoeJoe. She smiled and stuck her hand out, a small mouse crawled from the sleeve of her hoodie onto her hand.
"Her name is Secila and she is a mouse familiar as you can see, she helps me with my water. I was never the strongest at using my ability so she helps me and enhances it," JoeJoe explains as Secila runs up her arm and onto the top of her head. I smiled before turning around.
A bright light blinded me as something appeared in the centre of the room, everyone looked towards it.
"JJ Rain, my name is Lucius, remember my name and you will forever have me by your side. I am a phoenix and I will help you with air and fire. Please respect my wishes and I'll respect yours," a voice echoed around the room, bouncing off the walls as the bright light dimmed to show a large bird with feathers of fire and eyes of a steel like orange gaze.
It screeched and then flew towards me, landing on my shoulder and sitting there comfortably.
I shared a surprised look with everyone.
"He's beautiful. What's his name?" I heard Zeke's voice get louder as he and Tim approached me. Tim had a line of seeds on his finger that was positioned in a hook style, he put it up towards the birds beak and watched as Lucius happily pecked away at them.
"Lucius," I replied, Lucius screeched to the sound of his name.
Someone started clapping. We all looked to see Karim clapping and walking through the hall.
"Remarkable. It would seem you and your uncle have a lot in common," Karim says, exaggerating 'lot' and stopping in front of me. This time JoeJoe was stood defensively.
"For as long as I've known you, you've constantly told me that you knew nothing of my uncle and aunt!" she exclaimed quickly pushing to get the information.
"Well, I lied," he says bluntly before sitting down and throwing two files on the table in front of him.
"I've been waiting a long time for this day, the day when the twins finally raise up and join our world, when this finally happens... well the future will depend on you two," Karim said, propping his feet up on the table and pulling the files into his lap and opening one. He produced a photo from the file and held it up, in his hand was a man, he opened the other file and held up a female. They looked similar to my father. The man had golden hair with a stubble and green eyes, whereas, the woman had golden hair and yellow cat like eyes.
"Kinata, spelt K I N A T A, pronounced kee-n-a-t-a, age 34, female, a warrior in L.I.A.R.." Karim spoke, reading from the file.
"There's no way-" JoeJoe started.
"Darius, age 35, male, one of the inner circle of L.I.A.R.." Karim interrupted. I looked at my sister out the corner of my eye, she looked angry, too angry.
The room fell silent until Lucius squawked and flew up, a blinding light before a boy appeared in front of me. He looked around 10 years old and kept his fiery hair and bright orange eyes. He wore a messy school uniform and wore a mischievous grin.
"Ta-Da~" he smiled widely and stretched his arms out like he just finished a really complicated trick in a circus.
"Who are you?" I asked, he looked at me hurt.
"I'm Lucius, whodyathink?" he replied, his voice rang around and it made me feel like he should have either horns or a halo on his head, which one, i was yet to find out.
"Anyway, your uncle Darius has also got a winged familiar, actually, you may have met her before. Now what was her name... Oh! She was called Eliza," Lucius hopped onto the edge of a table and spoke from what he remembered of my uncle.
"Eliza, as in, mother's best friend, Eliza? JoeJoe asked, he nods.
"Eliza, tried to stop Darius but he just pulled out a very dangerous tactic that people rarely know of unless you have researched the history of familiars your whole life. Even now it's almost impossible," he explained, shrugging. I frowned.
"So my family is half light, half dark, how storybook stereotypical," I sighed slouching into my stand, "I'm tired. I don't care about my family anymore, they lied to me my whole life anyway. I'm going to bed, bye!" I say as I start walking out of the dining hall while stretching my back. A couple seconds pass and I find Lucius landing on my shoulder in his phoenix form again.
"What do you think I am? A bird perch?" I asked sarcastically as I kept walking down the corridor.
