It had been a few months since I moved in, and life seemed to be going great for Octavia. She was now the top photographer in the country, coming out on top with the most unique photos from all around the world; she was thriving. I was so happy to see her smiling again; she was finally back to her old self. I woke up in bed, finding her asleep next to me, and all I could do was smile. I leaned over and kissed her head before slipping out under her itchy covers. She hated how I constantly complained about them, but she didn't realize I loved her little sassiness. I slipped on my boxers before grabbing my laptop and ordering a new bedding set.
Recently I started renting out my mansion as a B&B. I loved the way Octavia looked at me now. I wanted to change to show her I could be so much better. I was still involved with my gang, but hey, they were my family, after all. We went from killing to helping around town, turning from crime to care. No one feared us anymore, and it felt so good to be wanted by the person I loved. My involvement with crime was only linked to my job; being an ex-criminal, I could spot a lie miles away. This made me very good at being a lawyer, and just like Octavia, I was thriving and grinding my way to the top. I looked over at Octavia once more before walking into the bathroom and getting into the shower.
After my shower, I wrapped a towel around my waist and walked out of the bathroom to find her going through the closet. I came up behind her, and I wrapped my arms around her waist. I loved the smell of her Vanilla perfume. It was a scent I could never forget. "Good morning, princess." She giggled softly; hearing her giggle was like music to my ears nothing in the world sounded better. She turned around and pecked my lips softly. "Good morning, handsome." I picked her up, and she wrapped her legs around me tightly. I carried her over to the bed before laying her down and kissing her neck. "Mm babe, stop it. You have to go meet with the guys at the orphanage." I smiled softly, loving how she kept me on top of things, never letting me slip up. "Just a few more minutes." I pressed my body into her more before she rolled over, pinning me to the bed. "Get dressed. I'm making breakfast."
She climbed off me and walked out of the room. Laughing a bit, I stood up, doing as she told me. I got dressed, wearing a dark blue tux with black dress shoes, checking myself in the mirror. I quickly slapped some gel in my hair and slicked it back. "Oh yes... who is this handsome daredevil." I winked at myself in the mirror before walking downstairs and into the kitchen. "Look at my handsome man!" I laughed and did a quick spin for her before setting the table. "I hope you're hungry." "Always am, babe!" She carried in the food, and we sat down for breakfast over a small conversation. "Don't forget, when you leave the meeting, I need you to drop off the donation for the church." "I haven't forgotten. I'm sure they will appreciate it, babe." "I hope it's time this town changes, even a little bit." After breakfast, we said goodbye, and I drove to the orphanage.
I was greeted by my guys and a few kids that I read to every week, "Sin! You're back!" They jumped into my arms, clinging to me, and I laughed as I carried them inside. "You kids are so precious." As I walked inside, I was greeted by the orphanage's owner. "Sinclair, welcome back." "It's always nice to be back, Meredith." She was an old, tender lady with a warming smile and was short with long grey hair and wrinkles. I walked over, hugging her tightly, gently squeezing my arms around her. "Make any more of those delicious cookies for us guys?"
"Of course I did. They are hot and ready in the meeting room." The guys smiled and laughed as they hugged her then we all made our way into the meeting room. "Okay, what's first?" "Mark, eight years old, was brought back to the orphanage last night after being adopted yesterday evening." "Explain..." "Well, the family who had taken him in beat the child. He called the police, and the two adults were arrested." "What is going on as of now?" "I'm not sure Meredith hasn't had any more contact with the police." "Stay on top of it. Make sure they are put away. I don't want excuses."
Things like this happened daily; kids were being hurt, and if I had any rule out of many, it was that we don't hurt kids. I involved myself with the orphanage because I remember being on the streets when I was younger, not knowing anything but crime. I wanted to change that for these kids. I wanted to show them life was better and that they didn't have to revert to danger like I did. "Any other matters?" "No, boss." "Great, another 200K donated to the orphanage. If anything changes, call me." They nodded as I stood and grabbed a cookie. On my way out, I said goodbye to everyone and went to the church. KNOCK KNOCK "Come on in." I walked into the church's office only to be greeted by the priest. "Hello, Mr. Russell. Nice to see you again." "Thank you, Father. I'm here to drop off that check Octavia promised you."
He smiled as I handed him the check, and he nodded. "That girl of yours lifts the spirit around here. I don't know what we'd do without her." "You and I both father." He laughed as he sat the check down and then offered me to sit. "Tell me when I can expect to wed you and the beautiful Octavia?" I laughed and sighed. "I'm not sure if we are ready for that." "That's fine. It's all about time." He smiled kindly, and I nodded at him and then looked at the clock. "Is there anything I can take care of with the church today? I have time to spare." He nodded, and the rest of the day I spent working on the church, cleaning and fixing everything I could. "Well, thank you so much, Father. I'm glad I could help you with the church today." "Oh, please, I'm glad you could help me. You are welcome to come by anytime you want."
I nodded as he led me out of the church and to my car, we said goodbye, and I made my way home. "Babe, I'm home!" I walked inside, and as I walked around the corner, I saw rose petals and candles leading through the house. I smiled widely and laughed. "This is soooo corny!" I followed the path of roses and candles to the kitchen, where Octavia was waiting for me, wearing a short red dress that complimented her body. I stood there for a second, staring at her. I loved the way her long curly hair covered some of her face. Her beautiful long legs were admirable, and her red lipstick matched her makeup. I smiled as I slowly approached the table, "What's all this?" "Well, for a while, you've been working so hard, and I wanted to show you how much I appreciated you." I watched as she pulled out my chair, and I took my seat. She slowly lifted the silver lid covering my plate, revealing a delicious juicy steak with asparagus and potatoes.
It was almost like I could taste it on my tongue without even eating it. "This looks so delicious, baby." "Well, enjoy." She kissed my lips, and I smiled before grabbing my knife and fork, then dug in. I watched her walk to the other side of the table and start eating. "How did today go?" "Great, a little problem at the orphanage, but it's being resolved. I donated more money and then dropped the check off at the church. I would have been back earlier, but I decided to help Father Jack with a few things around the church. How was work?" "Great, I scheduled a contest with the high schools in town. I wanted everyone interested in photography to go out and take photos. I will have the best photo placed in my art gallery, just giving them the option to sell or not. So, I have to go through the applications at the end of this week." "Great baby! That sounds so awesome!"
We continued to talk over dinner, smiling and laughing until we finished. After dinner, I watched as Octavia grabbed our plates and took them to the kitchen. I followed and then wrapped my arms around Octavia's waist after placing it in the sink. "Why don't we take care of these later and go to our room." She giggled as I picked her up bride-style, and I carried her up to our bedroom. I laid her on the bed, kissing her and leaving hickeys up and down her neck and chest. "Ohhh baby!" she moaned loud, but it only made me smirk and pull off her dress…. An hour later, we lay in bed, breathing heavily, smiling. I grabbed her and cuddled her tightly. "Tonight was perfect, baby, thank you." "I'm so glad you feel that way. I wanted it to be perfect when I told you." "Told me what?" I looked over at her and stroked her cheek gently. "Baby... we're pregnant…." I quickly sat up and looked into her eyes. "What did you just say…..."
