Let's Begin

The atmosphere in the library was not as light as usual. Gathered in there was Mike, Tingting, Yu Jing and Lukas.

Mike sat on a chair, his gaze solemn with intense focus. Tingting and Yu Jing stood on either side of him, their manners tense.

Before everyone could celebrate his coming out of his room, Lukas had insisted on everybody being present in the mansion. He had seemed to want to explain a few things.

In order to prevent them from worrying further for him, he had meticulously covered the red marks on his ears with his hair.

He turned to the others and took a deep breath.

He explained the reasons for strange things happening around them. That the granny's death was most likely linked to him. That the reason he was accustomed to killing in cold-blood was due to all the kidnappings and threats to his life he had experienced as a child.

Every word that escaped his lips stunned the rest into absolute silence. Not a question was raised throughout Lukas's entire recount of his origins and his plans for the future.

"I have explained everything. Will you forgive me?"

Tingting shook out of it first. She placed both hands on her chest and gazed at him earnestly.

"You're the only family I will ever acknowledge. We've been through so much together. Your enemies are my enemies. And besides, I already knew most of that."

Mike followed, cracking into a huge smile.

"You're my brother now. I can't just leave you. None of that even matters. You should have told us sooner. We could have helped you."

Yu Jing straightened up with a determined look on his face.

"The time I've known you for is short but that doesn't make my feelings untrue. For you, Lukas, I will do whatever you ask of me. You made my dull, friendless life colourful. You accepted me and my strange quirks. For that, I will be forever grateful. Of course, I'm doing this for my Goddess too."

Lukas smiled. He did not fear the possibility of rejection. No, he did not even consider it as he knew that they truly cared for and would understand why he had sealed his mouth about his situation.

"But still, to think you were some famous person's child... I knew it. You felt a bit too distant from me at first. I could feel your rich aura you know." Mike joked around as usual but thought of something.

"You mentioned that you plan on finally getting back at your father, which is understandable, but... What exactly do you want to do?"

Lukas didn't even need to think.

"Destroy the Capital."

"?!"

Looking at everybody's stupefied expressions, Lukas hurried to clarify that he wouldn't insist on their help.

"Of course, as it's dangerous, none of you have to join me-"

Mike gaped at Lukas, his eyes shining like a newborn baby.

"Dude! That's like in those movies and stuff! Taking over the world, count me in!"

Yu Jing pushed Mike to the side. His face radiated with eagerness.

"My Lord, your ambitions excite me. No, seriously. Lukas, when shall we get started."

The boys fantasied on the great adventure, the exhilaration, the- the-

...Whatever! Their excitement couldn't be describe with mere words.

"Stop stop stop stop STOP."

Tingting felt a great need to calm down these hot-headed children and bring them back to reality.

"You haven't thought this through at all have you? The police? They'll lock you up in no time. Do you really think you'll be able to outrun them when they chase you down in their cars?"

Her mature attitude was very unappealing at that moment. Very.

"...Sis. You've ruined it."

"My Goddess, was it too hard to let me stay in heaven for just a little longer?"

The children who had been brought back down to reality looked at Tingting with obvious grievance.

"... Oh my God."

Lukas coughed and turned the attention back onto himself.

"We'll have gathered plenty of man-power by then. This isn't the only slums area, is it? We can go to each and every one and gather those who detest what the Capital has done. We'll act under the guise of being gangsters. The police will just blow us off as another bunch of kids going through their rebellious stages and think nothing much of it. We'll need to learn to ride motorbikes. Drive cars. Trucks. Use guns. Get ammunition. There are so many things. It will take time but the result will be worth all the hard work." He paused and stared hard at each of his friends in front of him.

"Will you all join me?"

The three glanced at each other and beamed.

"Of course."

Lukas smiled too. He turned to look out of the window. What he saw may not have been a vast green scenery or a picture of beauty but it was enough.

This was enough for him.
