Her happiness.

It Evelyn. He loved the name.

It was beautiful, lovely and it surely suited her. A true beauty she was.

He sighed and leaned back into the chair. Maybe, he should go there daily and make sure that she was eating healthy. She was too thin.

His forehead creased a little as he remembered. She said about having money problems, didn't she? Along with having to drop her 2nd semester due to those problems.

Salvatore did not want that to happen. If anything he wanted Evelyn to have every luxury in the world. But this was where it got tricky because he had to give her the money without letting anyone know especially his second in command or his consigliere.

They'd make fucking fun of him. Fucking idiots.

A bank loan, she would say no to that and if she got to know who she was taking a loan from she would run away from the country and take refuge somewhere else. No one wanted to have a conversation much less a loan from a mafia boss.

A . . .but would it work? He traced the edge of his lip with his finger as he remembered that middle-class people loved to gamble with tickets.

He died the number of his assistant, Alfonso and held it to his ear. As soon as the assistant pick the topic grumbled out the order. "Get me the lottery ticket that's going to win tonight."

******

He watched as she left the restaurant in her clothes instead of the yellow uniform that she had to wear. It was a simple white blouse and jeans but he knew that those were not branded yet manage to look amazing in them. From where he was watching her she strutted down the street like a runway model as if she ruled the world which she would if she was next to him.

He shook his head. No, thank you.

Taking his eyes off her was another chore that he was not familiar with. It hurt more than taking a bullet.

How the hell was it possible for him to have a connection with someone so soon? Given the line of his work, Salvatore had tried his level best to make sure that he did not get involved with anyone who could not afford to protect themselves or who did not come in a direct relationship with him to be offered the protection of the mob.

Yet, with her, the most difficult thing was not establishing a relationship.

He saw as his work made her way to the woman with two tickets in her hand, both of them were going to win because both of them were the winning number.

He was taking no chances of any mess being created.

Cindy approached Evelyn with two tickets in her hand and handed her one saying that she was not sure if she was going to win anymore because that was what she was instructed to say. Something to do with astrology.

He watched as Evelyn appeared to be reluctant but when Cindy forcefully gave her the ticket she could not do anything but watched as the other woman walked away.

Cindy turned around to yell something and then turned ahead to walk.

He was not sure if Evelyn was going to keep the ticket or if she believed in the world of gambling so the next step was to ensure that she knew she was winning.

In the showroom that she stood in front of her the lottery numbers going on and just as she turned to see what the cheering was for. It was then she saw the numbers on the television to be the same as the one in her hands.

She checked, every number She checked to make sure that she had won and every number was exactly shown on the television.

He laughed slightly as he watched her shocked expressions. She had won and she had completely refused to believe it as she even finished herself in front of him.

He threw his head back and laughed loudly when he saw her jumping and yelling loudly that she had finally won!

She was won fifty million euros.

He smiled at the sight of her happiness.

He did not particularly believe in God or fate but whosoever was the almighty, Salvatore wished that it was him as the one fated to protect her happiness because he a sure that he won't fail.
