A death man's family - IV

"Tell me about it," she said, "tell me what is written there in clear words, Antonio."

The man was sitting down now and the stress was visible on his face. Evelyn always thought that the man had no expressions rather than the clear ones that he always showed but now the stress was getting to him and now it was transferring itself to her.

"Your father did not hand you the organisation. I think he was aware of the fact that there was going to be too much conspiracy within family members if he did so. He did this to protect you."

Evelyn shook her head. "I am not holding anyone guilty over the matter unless I know it all. Continue, Antonio."

"Your father and Mr Alessandro have been friends for a very long time. You don't have friends in this business other than associates which is why your father entrusted the organisation to him. Since it would be him that is carrying out the organisation he is going to get 70% of the profit and 30 is going to go to you."

"Out of that 30 you can decide if you want to give anything to your family members or not. Your father is not holding You liable for that. The whole organisation is going to go to Angelo and frankly speaking unless you marry into that family you are not going to have any control over it."

Evelyn's eyebrows shot to the roof for a brief second before she lowered her eyes to her lap. Her father had done that much?

"So you all will be working under him?" She muttered to which Antonio nodded. "What am I to do in any of this?"

He sighed and shifted in his chair. "Honestly in many cases when the boss just has a daughter, she usually marries off into a family and the son takes over the organisation. It is uncommon for a father to hand over his organisation without marrying his daughter but since your father has done this you could go around the world and live with the 30% money that you're going to receive. It is going to be quite a lot, I assure you."

"And the family?" Evelyn asked.

Her father had always kept the relatives at a distance, which did not mean that the vultures did not descend down on them whenever they wanted. The first thing they all were going to do was to hog her into giving them whatever they wanted.

They were even going to be proposals for cousin marriages so that Evelyn could have 'help' with the organisation. All of that was a lie and she knew it.

She leaned back into the chair comfortably. Maybe that is why her father had done this. He knew that she would never have the power to deal with all of them at once which is why he had already provided her with a good shield.

But it did not sit well with her that he had given away all of his life's hard work into the hands of someone who did not even know.

"I have money . ." She softly added to the man who look at her with a raised eyebrow, "if we could offer it to Mr D'alessandro—"

"How much money do you think you have Evelyn?" Antonio chuckled, no longer hiding his amusement, "A million? Tens of millions? The man is a hidden billionaire who has tons of offshore accounts. Don't even think about offering him money."

Evelyn shushed up. There was no need for her to essay anything else after there's. What could she possibly offer to a hidden billionaire?

"What do we do now, Antonio?" She turned to him with the tired expression on her face, "I only have you to look up for guidance." She lazily raised her hand and pointed to him before putting it back on her lap.

A flash of a motion passed through his eyes making him avert them for a second before bringing them back to her. He opened his mouth hesitantly and said, "for now the man has been merciful enough to give us time till the funeral. We should focus on that."

Evelyn's eyes closed. The funeral.
