It was only after returning to the dojo when Eric then had a closer look at the family he saved. They were actually his neighbours who had stayed at the nearby flat.
He recognized them as the family who he occasionally meets on his way back home. They were always a friendly bunch and would often smile and nod their head in greeting to him. Eric was just never comfortable enough to reply in any sort of ways and would only nod his head in acknowledgement sometimes.
"Thank you so much your help." A meek voice came from the background. It was the second daughter of the family, Minney who spoke. Eric actually knew Minney as she had a popular reputation around the neighbourhood as a kind and caring girl who would often help others out in the neighbourhood.
Meanwhile the rest of the family quickly got to their feet to thank Eric for his help. "What are those wretched things!" Exclaimed the mother of the family. She proceeded to thank Eric for saving them and also requested Eric to allow them to stay.
While thinking of the uses of the family, he realized that the woman in front of him was a capable housewife who could help in the cleaning and cooking from now on. This could lessen his worries on stuff like logistic affairs if there were others to help him out. Furthermore he had more than enough space to keep them in his house.
As he was considering the pros and cons of keeping them, Minney's father quickly added "we can help out around here, and i may not look like it but i am also a retired soldier as well and can help you with the safety of this place."
Hearing that Eric decided to just accept the into the household. Truthfully, with Eric's personality as it is he would never want to co-inhabit with someone else but with the situation as it is, he was left with not much options as well. Who knows what the world outside is like anymore? Can a loner even survive on his own anymore in this new apocalyptic world?
The last member of the family, Madison was the opposite of Minney, in the sense that she was more spoiled and often made trouble with gangs outside. Many people would go out of their way to avoid them as they were often more trouble then they could handle.
Eric however could care less as people like them were the easiest for him to take care of. It was a simple case of violence to curb violence wasn't it.
He then introduced Vanessa to them, who had been hiding in the inner parts of the dojo before settling them in, dividing them into their rooms and getting their roles sorted out, he did not need useless people after all and he would only accept people useful to him and nothing less. Minney and Vanessa was thus given the role of logistic manager and was tasked with calculating each and every food stock they had and how to ration them accordingly. Meanwhile Minney's mother was tasked to be the cook for the family while her father was tasked to be part of the defense team for the dojo. After all, Eric should not be expected to handle every defense matter himself could he, even a superhuman would eventually tire.
He was having a headache over what role to give Maddison before deciding to just give her the job of cleaning the house and keeping it clean. There was not much else she could do anyways. Being given the job she had, Maddison was obviously not satisfied but she decided to keep it to herself, after all she knew that she still needed Eric's help and the zombies had given her quite the scare. As such she could only accept her role begrudgingly.
Finally done, Eric thought to himself. In the back of his mind however, Eric knew that this was only the beginning to the new world he lived in and there would definitely be more troubles brewing. However, was Eric scared? The answer would be no. With what Eric had been through when he was young, he became more and more mature and had a strong sense of adaptability. He firmly believed that there is nothing he could not overcome.
So what if the would had been overrun by zombies, if they want to kill me, then i will kill them, as simple as that. He made a promise to himself at that moment that nothing would stop him from being his own master and he would never let others dictate over his life. Even if it means he has to stain his hands red with blood.
