Chapter 5: Evolution Beads

Returning back to his room, Eric took out the beads from the zombies he killed earlier to find out what was so special about it. Actually when he picked it up from the zombie's body earlier, he could feel some sort of energy emanating from it. It was only because he had too much stuff to worry about that caused this matter to slip out of his mind.

Taking out the beads from his pockets, the beads glowed as he took a closer look. "How does this work?" Eric thought to himself as he sniffed the beads.

"Argh! That is disgusting" Eric exclaimed. It did not even take him a second to react as he smelt the disgusting smell emanating from the bead. There were still blood and pieces of flesh on the bead when he smelt it that he did not notice and it was so bad that Eric almost puked at that moment.

He quickly washed the bead with water before examining it more closely. It was only in that clean state that he was able to clearly feel the energy emanating from the bead. "How do i absorb this energy?" Eric thought to himself. It was obviously not working just by holding it, as such he was racking his brain finding a method.

"Don't tell me.." Eric wondered as he decided to just munch on the bead. Even though the bead was somewhat clean, Eric still felt disgusted knowing the bead was lodged inside a part of a zombie and the state that it was previously, however he told himself that in the pursuit for power, anything was worth it.

An intense pain could be felt over Eric's body when he swallowed the bead. He could feel a foreign energy coursing through his body at that moment as he could feel his muscles contracting and expanding as he felt his body undergoing some form of transformation. Black impurities could be seen seeping out of his pores at that moment and he was finally able to regain control of his body after about a full minute.

"What was that?" was the only thought that appeared in his mind after what had happened. The whole situation felt so unreal to Eric but he had no choice but to believe in what had happened as he had just experienced it.

Even so, Eric did not let the matter affect him for long. "Even zombies are appearing in this world, what is this compared to that."

He then judged the condition of his body by doing some light workout that he does regularly. "Hmm, everything seems so much easier. Its as if my body has evolved just like the zombies." Eric thought to himself. After determining that the bead would not cause any negative side effects, Eric decided to consume the remaining three beads, although one by one, as he feared eating too many at once would be beyond his body's limit.

Even though the beads still allowed Eric's to advance another layer, the effect was clearly not as effective as the first bead. It was understandable, after all most of the impurities would be removed the first time round and the other beads are just removing the remaining ones.

It was at that moment that Eric discovered a strange but strong energy coursing within his body. He was not able to control it very well but it was evident that it was some sort of untapped power that he was not able to control as of yet, however Eric was confident that he would get the hang of the energy very quickly.

Calming his mind, he tried to exert the energy outside of his body albeit to no avail. He had no choice but to give up as he determined that there was still insufficient energy within his body. He decided to continue on after obtaining more energy from more beads. It would not be too difficult for Eric to kill those zombies anyway.
