Try Again

The next morning Jian got up around 9 and went out of her room towards the kitchen. She searched the fridge for anything, yet there seemed to be almost nothing.

She sighed thinking, "I guess today is shopping day again. Wait where is she?"

Jian walked outside the kitchen and called for her mother, but there was no reply. She knocked on her mother's door yet no reply was there either. Worried Jian quickly got her phone and called her mother.

She was pacing around the living room when her mother answered, "Hello."

"Mom where are you?" Jian asked as she took a sit on the sofa.

"I am at the market to get some groceries, why? Do you need anything?" Her mother answered in a calm tone.

"No I just called to ask if I should go, but since you are out already I don't have to," Jian answered. They quickly ended their conversation as she went back to her room.

"Now what am I going to do with this." She said looking at the "dress" she had made. It was in the shape of a pillowcase. No curbs whatsoever. Last night she was so busy understanding the essential functions of the machine and how to use it that she only made a very simple piece of clothing.

After cleaning up her bedroom, she started searching for tutorials on creating clothing as she lay down on her bed. It took her a few videos, however, she finally got the basics for both cutting and sewing.

"Now let's try again," she said as she got up from bed.

First, she cleaned her surface and laid the fabric down nicely to prevent any wrinkles. Then she got the ruler to measure the material so she could get a ratio from centimeters to millimeters down.

Second, after measuring her body, and the fabric she started to outline the patterns and design of the dress on paper using the same ratios.

Third, she carefully copied the design from the paper to the fabric making sure to triple-check her ratios and patterns. She then cut the fabric a bit on the outer side of the design to make sure she could have excess to use in case she made a mistake with her sewing.

Afterward, she stitched the outlines of the fabric together. She was careful to end every stitch by making a JK just for fun. Once she had finished her dress she laid it down on her bed.

She had made a red dress that was very simple. The top portion was off-the-shoulder ruffles over the dress fabric. The bottom was a circle skirt that dragged from the upper knees to the floor like a tail. She took a picture to save her beautiful creation and then tried it on.

After trying it on she tried to take a nice photo, yet none of the photos she took came out pretty. Then a thought came across her mind, "John, he likes photography maybe he could take a nice picture."

Jian was about to give John a call when she heard her mother call for her. She quickly changed clothes and went out to help her mother put the groceries up.

"Did you eat anything yet?" Jessica asked as she took out the groceries from the shopping bag. Jian took the vegetables and put them in the fridge as she answered, "No, not yet."

"What would you like then, madam?" Jessica questioned moving towards the stove.

Jian smiled as she said, "One veggie Omelet please miss." The two giggled a little at the accent they butchered.

"So, are you going to tell me what is going on with Johnny Heon, or do I have to find out like last time?" Jessica asked getting the vegetables from the fridge.

Jian stood still in shock for a few minutes then calmly said, "Mom, what do you mean by last time? If you are talking about Alex then no sorry to disappoint you but we do not have a relationship similar to what you are talking about."

Jian slowly walked to the table arranging the plates for brunch. "As for John, we are merely just acquaintances. We are just friends."

"You went from acquaintances to friends in three words," Jessica said the playfulness in her tone gone.
