Family Time

Jian gulped, "Ok fine, yes I think he likes me, but I don't like him in that way. I want us to stay friends. Also could stop using that tone, please, it is a bit scary."

"Thank you, that's all I need to hear. Also, Mister Brown called me this morning to check on you since he hasn't gotten an email back from you yet. It is not like you to neglect your schoolwork Jiji." Jessica finished with a concerned tone.

Jian sighed, "Sorry, Mom, it's just I had a lot on my mind since I just earned some free time during the break. I can't recall any memories before when we were in Oklahoma, I feel this pain in my heart, and every time I try to remember my head starts hurting."

Jessica's thoughts wandered back to that day, she was devastated after losing Jack, but he left her his final wish and the documents she could use to fulfill his wish without problems, so she did what he wanted and the two started their trip from California to Georgia.

It all happened so quickly when Jessica looked back to check if Jian was still asleep as she drove along the highway. The moment Jessica took her eyes off the road the truck in front of them started losing control and the mental polls it was carrying fell.

Jessica in a hurry to move away from the truck and falling poles had drifted to the left crashing into the upcoming car from the other way. The result of just one glance to check on Jian had resulted in an accident that changed both of them forever.

Jessica took a deep breath, she knew she had to tell Jian the truth, but it still felt too early, she needed to wait till Jian's able to understand why she made the choices she did. "I know the accident was a difficult thing for us both but let us not dwell on the past shall we," Jessica said putting down a fruit platter and a plate of omelets on the table.

Jian sat down choosing to enjoy the little amount of family time she had with her mother before she left for work again. Her mother was always ready to work just for Jian to go to a good private school, attend the best classes, and have all she could need to study.

It was alright yet sometimes Jian wished her mother would work less and spend more time with her. Nevertheless, it is good to know that her mother is always going to support Jian no matter what she does.
