Elijah's Debt

He nodded as he held the door so she could walk inside. "So John and Jian, huh?" Elijah asked, and Johnny turned to look at him, "Yes, you got a problem with that?" He asked his tone changed from the normal way he spoke to Jian to a dark and distant voice. "Alright, take it, easy man, I just thought she was cute is all, by the way how's it like working under Cyrus De Luca?"

Johnny frowned at Elijah's smirking gaze. His tone is harsh, cold, and distant as he answers, "Not bad." Elijah scoffed as he said, "Ya right, working with that monster ain't bad." The sarcasm was clear in his voice as he finished his sentence. John was about to speak again noticing a pair of eyes frowning at him from inside the shop as Jian took a quick peek at him. She had noticed his emotionless expression a new side of Johnny as she turned her eyes away. John's face softened a little as he turned to look at Elijah again saying, "Whatever he may be is none of my concern, whether that be a human or devil."

Elijah nodded as he asked, "So with this should I consider my debt paid." John smirked as he turned around saying, "One of them." Elijah closed his eyes thinking back to when his debt started.

It was fall but the snow had pilled up for meters in the military academy. Elijah walked along the stone path leading to the dorms when he was hit in the back of his head. He woke up with fuzzy memories but one thing was a clear image in front of him, the body of a young adolescent with blood dripping down his knuckles, and the side of his face. He looked down to see a dozen or so boys bloodied beyond thought whether from the blood of their hands or their own. It was a terrifying sight for a 12-year-old to witness yet there was nothing he could do, his legs broken and arm bruised.

Elijah had no idea of what had happened afterward, but he was fully surprised to see that the adolescent wasn't caught nor punished and from the moment he asked how do I repay you, his debt started. He told him of the number of people that were there and said, "that is the number of favors I am owed, which if not given then they will be taken." The cold emotionless voice was in the body of a 10-year-old and with half a decade passed Elijah still owed 9 more favors.

He shuddered out of the memory looking inside the shop to see the Jian and John talking happily. He waited and then waved when John stared at him. Elijah walked away continuing on his path. There were many others like him who owed their life as a debt the only difference was their value in his eyes, so "when will my value be over," Elijah thought closing his eyes.
