Dinner (2)

The dinner day arrived as Jian left work. She saw John waiting for her and passed her bag over to him asking, "How are you feeling?" He made a face before answering, "Honestly I don't know, I mean your mother seems cool and all but she can be scary." He sounded nervous as she nodded then said, "Don't worry mother is just trying to make sure she sets some boundaries before the quince cause you know teenagers and booze isn't a great combo."

John seemed to understand as he started another conversation with her asking about work. He smiled listening to Jian ramble about all the different things she learned and wore during the shoot. They walked happily to his bike which the two took back to Jian's home.

"I am home," Jian said as she walked inside. Jessica looked out from the kitchen before responding, "Wonderful, welcome to our home John, just make yourself at home while I finish prepping a few things." He nodded walking inside to sit on the sofa as Jian walked into her room. She came back outside after putting her stuff down asking, "Mother do you need help with anything?" She grabbed a bottle of water and juice and walked out when her mother said no.

"Here ya go," She said passing the juice to John. He nodded and moved so she could sit down she shook her head saying, "I gotta change I will be back." He nodded and turned towards the kitchen, "Miss Kim is there anything I could help you with?" He asked sincerely after getting up. Jessica smiled, "Could you help me set the table up, the plates are up there." She pointed to the cabinet near the fridge and he nodded.

"So John if I remember correctly you went to a military-type academy correct?" Jessica asked as she cut some lettuce for a salad. John reapplied with a yes and she asked another question, "Did any interesting events happen during that time?" He flinched at her cold tone causing himself to drop a plate on the table. She glanced at him scoffing and then continuing, "I guess they did, do not worry Jian doesn't know."

"How did you find out?" He asked walking inside the kitchen, she smiled responding, "The bowls are here," she pointed with the knife in her hand to a cabinet on her right. Then she continued, "Do you really think I would let my daughter go around with a teenage boy without doing a deep background check?" He chuckled at her response and she continued, "Just make sure Jian doesn't find out or get connected to your past."

His reply was a simple yes as he sat down, Jian also walked out of her room as she heard his response. "Yes to what?" Jian asked and Jessica smiled at her saying, "I was asking him if he is picking you up tomorrow for the quince in a car since you will be wearing a dress and it wouldn't look good to ride a bike there now would it." Jian nodded and John smiled saying, "I am going to borrow my father's car since he's out of town due to business, it would make the most sense."

Jian nodded as she asked him, "John what did your uncle think about the gift?" John took a few seconds before responding, "He was very pleased, he said thank you, by the way how's the suit looking?" John asked and Jian grinned turning to face her mother, "Mum, may I take John to my room before dinner?" Jessica turned her attention to the two before she nodded saying, "I don't see why not, I will let you know when dinner is prepared."
