"Of course, I want to know, but I will wait until you are comfortable sharing with me," Jian said as she placed a bottle of water in front of him, she sat down on the side of the sofa and he leaned against her.

"My-" he paused as his voice began to shake and Jian turned gently petting his shoulder. He took a deep breath before saying, " I couldn't contact you because my father was notified about someone last Sunday night. I was driving back when he called me, and he told me we were traveling to Russia. I was upset, so we ended up having an altercation and he confiscated all my things."

Jian waited as he continued, "Remember that he got a call about someone, well it was about my mother, she is half Russian so when she left years ago, she returned to Russia. I was notified when we were on the plane that her lawyer called my father and asked for him to travel to Russia with me to complete some paperwork."

He paused, his eyes watery as he sniffed before his lips quivered and he sobbed. Jian pulled him closer just holding him as time passed and he sniffled after a few minutes pulling back slightly as he rested against Jian's torso.

...

They arrived at the hospital to see a frail, woman with a pale face and thin body. Her hair was a dark brown with strings of grays as it stopped right above her shoulders. She held a gentle smile as the man next to her helped her sit up.

Her deep blue eyes glanced at him for a long time before turning to his father. Johnny didn't know how to respond to the curling pain in his chest, he looked at his father who just held a neutral expression not saying anything. He then moved his gaze back at her and she to him.

Then his mother spoke her voice rough and low as she said, "Mireu, thank you for coming on such short notice, Sergei will present my will after my funeral which is to be held three days after my passing in New York. I wished to be buried next to my parents in the same cemetery. However, before that, I hope you can let me spend some time with my son."

Her sentence wasn't a question, but it ended similarly as Mireu Heon nodded saying, "He will spend the next few days with you, Sergei contact me if anything happens." His voice didn't change and remained cold as John watched him walk out.

Sergei pulled up a seat for him next to his mother's bed, before walking out as well. "Johnny, you can sit down, I don't bite," his mother tried to put up a playful tone and smile, but she quickly muffled her cough as he walked forward asking, "Are you alright?"

She sighed saying, "I guess expecting you to call me mom was too high," he looked away eyes closed, and she laughed before another cough escaped her mouth.

"Wait, I will get a doctor," John said getting up to walk outside but she grabbed his arms tightly before gently shaking her head.

"They can't do much, don't worry I still have some time left, so how have you been?" She asked as she leaned back onto the pillows and Johnny sat back down. He didn't know what to say so he talked about everything.

"I see, you went to that academy, I assume you didn't like it?" She asked and he smiled gently saying, "I can't say I loved it, but I didn't hate it, I made many connections, but I was a bit brutal."

He held his head down and his mother laughed as he looked up surprised, she smiled a genuine big smile. "I didn't enjoy much of my academy experience either, and it's alright to tussle a little just don't go overboard with it," she said holding onto his hands and he nodded as there was a knock on the door.
