Busy Times (2)

"The theme is elements?" John asked as he noticed their title. Jian nodded saying, "Yes, so first we have water, this is my simplest design but it's cuts are very important, and we have to find the perfect shade of blue silk plus white crystals to imitate this waterfall effect. I also need a very white silver type of chain for these details."

She sighed sitting down before saying, "I want to ask mother if I can get actual silver and I think I could afford it but I am not sure because I want to use actual silver and gold for all these designs and it might not be worth it, what do you think?"

He smiled looking over the designs saying, "Instead of actual silver or gold how about silver and gold coated chains, like they will be made of copper but with a good coating of silver or gold they will be elevated compared to fake chains." Jian gasped and she smiled saying, "Of course, I think I know the perfect person to ask."

John smirked waiting for her to say his name but as Jian opened her phone to call, he pouted asking, "Who is it?" Jian smiled as she said, "William of course, his father owns a few jewelry shops, and his sister's been looking for me to get her an outfit designed for her Junior year prom next year, so I could ask her to help us connect as well."

"Hey Jian, what's up?" William said and Jian smiled saying, "Hi, Will, I need a favor, are you busy right now?" He answered quickly saying, "Nah."

Jian smiled as she explained, "So I recently got a great opportunity to present a few of my designs to a fashion show organizer and she approved of 5 of them, and I need a little help collecting high end materials," Jian paused and he hummed before she continued asking, "I wanted to ask if your father's shops are carrying any gold or silver coated jewelry like chains?"

He took a few seconds to answer saying, "I don't quite know, but give me till like the end of tomorrow and I'll get back to you with a solid answer plus a good deal if we do."

"Alright, thanks again and it's alright if you don't have them don't worry," Jian said before they ended the call, and she looked up at John who sighed. "What's wrong?" Jian asked as she tidied the desk.

"I could have gotten you the answer and product much faster," John said and he sighed again. Jian laughed as she got up before saying, "I see," she reached for his hand continuing, "I know you are always read to help, but I also need to learn and create my own connections, no?" He looked at and he sighed saying, "Yes."

Jian smiled noticing the light blush on his ears as she let go of his hands asking," Why don't you help with making a few mockups of the dresses?" He nodded asking, "Which one do you want to do first?"

Jian smiled saying, "The earth, fire, water, and metal dresses all need the gold or silver chains so we should wait on those. I guess this leaves the air dress, and I might have a chiffon fabric in one of these boxes, give me second."

Jian searched for a few minutes before finding the sheer baby blue fabric she had brough with her mother a few weeks ago. She smiled placing it on the table before she sighed saying, "If only it was lighter, it would be the perfect shade, but it's alright if I can get a decent dress out of this one."

John nodded as Jian continued, "So firstly this is our model, she is 5 foot 11 inches, and I chose her specifically because she's so tall, so this dress is really simple firstly the top portion is...."

Jian went to explain about the dress for a few minutes before John helped to set up the dress form so that it matched the model's height. Then she cut the fabric for each pattern pieces and soon it was all pinned onto the dress form to be checked then measured to see if it fit with the model's measurements.

This was followed by repining and remeasuring everything a few more times to get the perfect fit and shape and once they were done the moon was already in the sky. John left soon after dinner and the day came to a close.
