Diya opened her eyes and looked around, "I'm still alive.". The men were startled to suddenly hear a voice.
Veer looked around in fright; hugging Ajay's arm. "Bro, did you hear that? It's probably a ghost! Looks like she still doesn't know that she's dead. Poor her.". "Then go tell her." Ajay stood up swatting Veer's hands away. Veer turned to glare at the laughing Karl.
Diya saw Ajay giving her a once-over and calling the doctor. Diya's eyes were on Ajay the whole time the doctor was examining her. She could see how Ajay avoided eye contact with her. After the doctor exited the room, Ajay turned to her, "Rest well. I have something to deal with. I'll be back." and proceeded to walk out.
"Ajay, come here.". He stopped and slowly turned around. He paused but eventually sat down beside her still not looking at her. Diya cupped his chin and made him look at her. "It's not your fault.".
Diya gasped when Ajay suddenly hugged her. "I'm sorry. If I-". "There are no ifs. If it's your fault then I'm at the fault too. I shouldn't have wandered around alone," Diya said hugging him back. "Thank you for staying alive.". "You too.".
"Ahem, ahem.". The couple totally forgot about the two men in the room. They pulled out and Ajay turned to glare at them with annoyance. "I should find a girlfriend too. I can't eat any more dog food," Karl said placing a hand on his heart with a pained expression.
Two weeks passed in a blink. Diya had almost recovered but Ajay made a commotion whenever he found her lifting something.
Diya was so excited when Ajay told her that they were going to the beach that evening. She dressed and waited for him to pick her up. Ajay arrived sharply and they drove for 40 minutes to reach the beach.
They walked hand-in-hand; looking at the waves. The water was colored orange by the setting sun and it was totally quiet except for the sound of the waves and the wind. Diya looked around to find someone but there was no one in sight.
"Why there's no one here?". "I booked the whole beach," Ajay said; casually smiling at her. Diya had witnessed this kind of situation before but it shocked her to think she was married to such a rich person each time. She remembered how her mother refused to bring her to the beach because it would be crowded and that they could get lost.
Ajay noticed her smiling, "What are you thinking about?". Diya said, "I'm just surprised about how my life had changed since I married you. I used to come home dejected every time I went shopping as I couldn't buy anything I liked. I was so against using my father's money for my liking. He had to take care of six people and I was that responsible older child. When I started work, I was so used to saving money.".
"But now, you show a bunch of branded clothes and accessories to my liking and say that everything's mine.". "You don't like me spending money on you?" Ajay asked with a serious look. "Silly, who wouldn't like it? But I feel like you're going overboard when this, us, is just a deal.".
