After that encounter with a dragon Impar realised that right now he was in a peaceful state, but eventually he would be surrounded by blood one way or another. he knew that this was new and enticing to people, but the protection God gave them was there for humanity's ignorance knowing they would treat this as easygoing.
"If this dimensional world or whatever does progress like some weird game, it won't be easy and I don't think there will be restarts I need to treat each step carefully until I know more."
facing the large structure and the notification window that appeared he turned in the items required to complete his quest.
: Objective Complete:
: Old Wooden Box Acquired:
: Crafting Table Recipe Acquired - Common:
The Box was the first thing Impar brought out with a greedy look on his face he activated it while praying that his luck would work in his favour again
"come on come on...." he uttered under his breathe silently.
: Your Luck has activated and affected the results:
"YES!!" He wanted to cry out in joy, at this rate he wouldn't need to worry about others, forget about returning to earth this place worked in his favour.
: Wooden Grenade X10 Acquired - Uncommon:
: Oak Long Sword Acquired - Superior:
Impar rubbed his hands together before checking out his loot. The grenades were interesting, they were the size of a fist and layered with what felt like planks. As he shook them somewhat, he heard a slight swishing inside he knew it wasn't right to play around with them though.
: Wooden Grenade - Uncommon:
Description: Thrown at a target area to deal damage equal to 50 health.
"holy shit these are strong they could instakill me five times over....il be paying that wolf cave a visit soon it seems..heh." he unhesitantly placed it away in his inventory for later use, he then took the sword out, it stood a mighty meter long with oakey veins and grains upon it. the edge seemed blunted with barely any cutting power which was disappointing
the sword in all honestly didn't look impressive it appeared to be more suited for training
: Oak Long Sword - Superior:
Description: A wooden sword used in practice for those who have never picked up a weapon in their lives. Deals 5 Damage Per attack. A critical bonus of 200% Extra damage on vital points.
Durability: 100/100
"Not bad!" Impar held the sword with both hands with an odd grin on his face. It was then that he noticed a chicken jump out of the bushes as it began to peck at the ground looking for some juicy worms or bugs to eat.
"hehe...." Glancing at the chicken than at his sword and back again towards the chicken Impar gave a grin before rushing over and giving the creature a wack with all his might, his heart was racing.
: Critical Strike 28 Damage:
Sure enough, the chicken gave an odd squeal before it was insta killed with no effort. It fell onto the ground like a limp corpse and a moment later exploded into a small burst of smoke, leaving just one item that transferred directly to his inventory.
: Chicken Feather Acquired - Common:
It was as expected the corpse vanished, and it left behind an item in his inventory. Impar was relaxed knowing he didn't need to butcher the carcass. Checking the feather, it wasn't anything special that he could use at the moment.
After walking for a little bit, impar glanced at the sky and realised the sun would near its time to set in a few hours and anyone with half a brain would recognise that it would be more dangerous by then.
"Somewhere not too far..." Impar gave it careful thought he explored the terrain around the obelisk for a half hour to memorise what he could to have a home ground advantage when need be. The obelisk was near a massive cliff the terrain was bumpy, and there was a cave entrance nearly 3 meters high and 2 meters wide that led downwards.
"I still have the protection I should be fine..if anything happens." Impar stood in front of the dark cave entrance with nervousness before he pulled out a handful of the mana shards that when held in a handful emitted a reasonably decent light, he then began his descent.
Making his way down the odd cave it seemed that it was empty other than the dripping of water from stalactites, Impar knew he had to keep himself on edge he didn't want his body to become used to not feeling jumpy despite the protection, if it got used to it then it would slow his reflexes.
"This world or whatever is probably plenty of times larger then earth or at least i think it is. If I'm part of this first batch of people, I can assume that maybe a few million people were picked I doubt I will run into anyone so soon. there are probably many obelisks out there."
What Impar didn't know was the plains of hope itself spanned the size of North America in itself, though it would be discovered later on. As he made his way deeper underground the temperature seemed to become somewhat hotter, it made him uncomfortable but not enough to cause too many issues.
Only after 3 minutes of heading down the cave which seemed sloped did Impar noticed an opening with a light on the other side, he quickly put away the mana shards and carefully approached only to see quite a sight.
"Hmm..." in that opening spanned a somewhat large cavern which had other entrances connected to it from other caves goblins were going back and forth between those entrances, in the centre of the cavern was a village, of course for these goblins. They seemed to be semi-intelligent able to build small huts for themselves as they were no larger than a 5-year-old there were hundreds of them, and they wore rags like outfits made from vines and leaves and even torn linen.
They held sticks sharpened to be pointed and the goblins that had wooden shoulder pads even wielded sticks with sharp rocks tied to the tips as if they were the elites.
In the centre of the goblin village was a large ruined statue of an unknown mighty figure half sunken in the ground, in front of that statue was a makeshift wooden stage with a small altar that held a glowing white orb.
Though that orb was not unguarded, a goblin with a long beard and a droopy face who wore ruined linen clothing and held a branch with what looked like mana shards embedded into it was currently sitting cross-legged speaking to a group of young goblins.
"That old bastard is a mage or something..I'm sure of it." Impar who could barely make the goblin out from this distance whispered. He took a few breaths before hiding himself after double checking that no goblin appeared nearby.
"-ok brainstorming time...-" he began to consider his options calmly, right now he had the protection buff that didn't allow him to die or take damage. when he attacked the chicken, it didn't vanish which was a good sign.
"-100 durability, I'm certain I can beat them all in 14 hours or less...I'm also sure these things feel fear, once they see their attacks don't work on me they won't get in my way-"
planning more his heart was racing with caution, these were living creatures and hadn't done him any harm but at the same time life was a place where the strong eat the weak if he showed weakness he would be beaten down again his best friend had even betrayed him.
His face twisted into one of fury then turned to a look of calmness "-if they are friendly il learn from them and see if I can get protection or something if they are hostile il demand the orb or il kill them all. And if they don't understand me....well il kill my way to the altar and steal whatever that orb is!. but before I do....-"
Impar wanted to test something, he took out the wooden sword and turned the tip of it towards him he took a deep breath before stabbing it towards his stomach to which a faint white light rippled and stopped it from penetrating.
: 0 Self Inflicted Damage Taken Due to Protection of god:
"Perfect!." Impar smirked before standing up and eating some food to get the well-fed buff. It seemed he wanted to act now before the blessing of the wild gods ended otherwise it would waste more time.
Walking out with his weapon in hand he made his way into the open area before glancing down the small cliff that was a 2-meter jump, he quickly jumped down skidding downwards and caught his balance without taking damage and then glanced in front of him.
In front of him, there were several goblin patrol groups of 4 around the rocky terrain one of which noticed him, the one who spotted him turned to its comrades.
"Kwirk work wraikk wiok!!" it uttered in an odd language before the other four in that group began to reply and speak as well. afterwards, one pulled out a bizarre bone horn and blew into it causing the sound to echo throughout the cavern, many goblins knew this sound as danger, and so all the warriors and elites gathered towards the direction with weapons in tow.
Before Impar knew what was going on a minute was all it took for him to be surrounded by over 200 goblin warriors, his legs shook slightly as he kept telling himself he had gods protection. Glancing at these goblins that surrounded him and were screeching it looked like something from a cartoon.
Their tones were in different ranges from green to greyish with their beady red or black eyes and their shouts causing spittle to fly out.
"Can you understand me?! " he called out to try and communicate, but it didn't seem to cause much difference as if these goblins hated humans greatly by the look of things.
All of a sudden a goblin from behind rushed over before it thrust its sharpened stick towards Impars back managing to hit before a white light enfulged it.
: 0 Damage Taken Due To Protection Of God:
Seeing this light the goblins all suddenly grew silent and confused, impar turned around to see the goblin that stabbed at him. Though it only remained silent for another moment as impar blinked at it.
It stabbed again at him this time to his stomach, but the same notification appeared. When this happened veiny lines appeared on Impars forehead, he clenched his teeth as he held a murderous look in his eyes.
"you want to backstab me... all of you are so DEAD!" he felt invincible, this protection was all he needed he could also vent his frustration out on these things.
He smashed his wooden longsword down onto the goblin with both hands as the weapon nearly split open its head.
: Critical Strike 28 Damage Done to Underground Goblin :
The goblin staggered back as it seemed stun almost like a hidden ailment impars strength also looked to give it quite a bit of damage, so he continued again, these underground goblins all had 30 health so ignoring the cries of surprise from the goblins around him he smashed the longsword again on the pitiful creature that had ambushed him causing its head to explode in a gory mess.
Soon quite enough a few things occurred. Firstly it was confirmed that killing a creature will transfer the loot directly to his inventory. Secondly, that gore and blood did exist in this dimension.
The dead goblin laid twitching with its brain matter scattered along the cavern ground.
