Goblins

Thanks to everything, no one cared to check if Aki had any ID, just if he was a criminal or not with a magical item, but anyway…

-I guess this is it then. I will take these kids to the school now, where are you planning to go?

-I will stay in the city for a couple of weeks or maybe a month, but first look for a tavern and register somewhere since my old ID won't be of much use now. Any idea where a magic or adventure society is around here?

-Ou, you just need to… *incredibly specific directions*... And you will see the adventures guild. They've been growing fast and already have a post on the whole empire, even some on the other countries.

-Then I will go there and ask for a normal accommodation. Bye kids, if you need any advice with magic then do ask around the guild for me.

-I won't miss you, idiot.

-We won't ever forget your advices brother Aki.

-I feel like our destinies changed just from meeting you.

-It's been an honor.

-Do come visit us. We will train hard and be even stronger than you by then.

What are they talking about you ask? Well, Aki actually acted like an older brother during the trip and gave tips to the boys about girls (all theory, but they don't know that), about fighting and even had bouts with then.

Even though the kids all had a stronger cultivation the Aki, he could still win if only two of then went against him. Except for Mimi, they had a draw.

About the little girls…  he actually thought she acted like his baby sister with her tsundere act, so he even sang her to sleep when she was homesick. Obviously he just noticed that she couldn't sleep and started singing a melodious song. Not like he could simply go and ask why she wasn't sleeping yet. No one told him to stop until she was asleep.

The age difference between her and his sister was quite large, since his sister was 3 and Mimi is 11, but he was also not feeling so well with the fact that he would need to wait more to finally see her in person either.

Back to the present.

-Hello, I'd like to register.

-Certainly sir, could you please fill these papers?

-Certainly. (No idea why I can understand these chinese characters, but whatever) Done.

-Please wait a little while your card is issued. You may receive it in that counter.

-Thank you.

(Okay, where's the catch? That went all to convenient, where is the, oh there is the muscle trouble maker.)

-You there.

-Me? How can I help?

-Actually, I saw that you were registering and seem to be new to town, so if you don't have a place to stay yet I'd like to suggest the wolf's buckle. It's a comfortable place with good food for the right price. You just have to *actually good way to pass on directions* and you will see it.

-Sure, I will have a look.

As the guy that looked like a game character whose slides went all to the big sides went away, Aki stared at nothing in special while awaiting.

After paying one silver for the registration fee, Aki directly went to the quest menu and picked one request to teach magical theory. At a school.

Well, it's more like he signed up for a test to be a substitute teacher. The pay was good so he decided to try after looking at the pay.

"Teachers really got a good pay before interned turned mainstream."

A silver per class really is a good payment around here, but again that was the pay for a substitute teacher.

After informing himself about the place and noting it down on a little block of wood, he decided to go check the Inn the guy from before recommended.

(Who would've guessed that's the owner's son. Though I am not surprised he got famous with a figure like that and a normal personality.)

One night with meals was actually fifty copper, so Aki paid for five after checking the rooms and eating lunch there. There was nothing really special about the place, but that was only from a modern point of view.

Normally this place is more crowded for lots of reasons, but the MC actually got here on the drought period, when there was one or two months before the next event on town.

Even so a fourth of the Inn rooms were filled with longtime residents.

-Since I've got little money now, let's see if I can help the pest control and find some things to sell. Though this bag is just…

Sion was a noob adventure like many others. The potential money from the materials was enticing and so were the other kind of rewards.

Instead of simply furthering their cultivation, they wanted to have a better future doing what they could. Those were his and and his party reasons to venture inside a goblin den to collect magic stones.

-Remember to stay close and be alert, just because they are weak doesn't mean they can't kill us.

Their leader said. A pretty boy with good brains was the first impression he made on everyone, but he also had a good heart and was fast to befriend people around him.

As a swordsman himself he also couldn't say he was bad with a sword either, but he also focused on magic so his master wasn't that big. He also practiced shield arts, so the idea was not that strange for him.

(Not that it makes him less enviable. We got to know each other at the same time and the mage and ranger already fell in love with him. I truly pity the girls, it's hard to marry other species, but anyway.)

it did not take long to find the first group. Five of them, the strongest being a five stars mortal. (Rank 0)

*Signaling with hands about which everyone has to target*

Luckily this guy's signals are simple to understand. Steadying himself, Sion prepared to charge at the nearest goblin.

Seeing the signal he did not hesitate for a second and cutted his target in half. That was what was supposed to happen, but the goblin evaded his slash and stabbed his arm.

-Arrggg.

Clutching his arm from the pain he actually didn't see the other goblin coming from his left and stabbing a dagger in his armor gap.

-Gigigi…  Ghah!

As the creature laughed a fire ball hit it's head and sent it staggering holding its head in pain, which ended fast, because it's head was chopped off.

-Sion, are you…

Alex didn't get to finish his sentence, an arrow pierced his throat before that. The blood fell on his face and he could hear screams behind him. Instantly he understood that the girls were being attacked

-How could we, to goblins…

suddenly his vision started spinning and he felt numb. Seeing his own armored body in front of him, his last thoughts were:

(Ah, this is a fitting end for an idiot like me)

Sion did not get to suffer more, his head reached the ground and was almost instantly burned.

Screams now came from the goblins who had rushed to the scene, making it so that the ones attacking the women stopped what they were doing.

Not that such decision saved them from the lightning that rained down after, right on their heads.

-Are you ok?

A man wearing normal clothes, glasses and for some reason a very big bag on his back, stepped over the corpses and flames like it was nothing and extended a hand to the two.

-O… Our companions a… Are dead.

-Is that so? We better report this then. Can you girls stand and change alone? Of course, I will be right here, just not looking, I will even get a wall between us if you need.

-Ple… Please.

While Aki worked hard to not look at their womanly bits where the clothes were torn, he was still a teen after all, he got two pair of pants  and shirts to then and made a rock wall as requested.

Quickly searching the crisped rests of the mens he found two coins purses and their guild cards. Their equipment wasn't that good, so he did not bother with it.

The goblins rapidly turned to ash as he got all the "life" from the corpses and easily got their magic stones.

While he was squatting and collecting the stones, because it would be a waste of mana to get the fifty or so stones with telekinetik tentacles, the girls finished changing and waited for him to notice them.

-Thank you for your help, we wouldn't have survived if not for you.

-And if we deed it would be worse. Is there anyway we can compensate you?

-Sure, you girls can carry my bag. It's a hard to walk around with it for long and I've been here for some hours, so my back kinda hurts.

While pointing at the apparently random content of his bag, they could only agree that it looked heavy and since they couldn't fight, it would be better for them to carry the loot and equipment.

-Ok.

*Nod*

-I am sorry, but are you just quiet or…

-I can talk.

-Sorry again, I just wanted to make sure you could tell me when you weren't ok. Anyway, what do you girls want to do? I am going out now, so you can come with me, but the corpses…

-We only formed the party recently, we didn't know each other well. We better just get their cards.

-I already did that, let's go then. Hermes's Path. This way.

And so they silently went back to the city. Oher goblins attacked then, but they were dealt easily and their stones collected.

Back to the guild was when they had their surprise.

-We'd like to report the death of some adventures in a goblin pit near the city.

-Understood. Do you have their cards as prove if death?

-Yes, their're on my bag. Excuse me…

When he took out twenty cards, even the receptionist had a shocked expression.

-I am sorry sir, but I am going to need you to wait for a guard official to come with a truth detector.

-No problem, just process the sale of these stones and register than in my car please. I am gonna sit there, so call me if you need anything. Now, what about you girls? You also need to give a report so would you like to wait and talk with me?

-I would also like to discuss somethings, Mia?

*Nods*

-Right, so let's start at the basics. What the hell were you doing?

-"Eh?"

-You know goblins have big eyes, noses and ears, did you really think they can't smell, see and hear better than humans. They literally live like a cluster of insects, so they obviously have strength in numbers and sometimes even team strategy. If they weren't naturally so weak they could as well evolve into one of the dominant races. It's like you were trying to be eaten.

-That…

-Goblins are pests, yes, but many pests can kill in enormous scale. You shouldn't underestimate adventuring. To start with, Mia, you're a mage, try to help your party get the upper hand in and outside battle, everything can influence a battle, and you need to know at least half of it if you don't want to die. That's why there are so many support spells. And Sophia, you have big ears on your head, they are an advantage you need to learn how to use before doing anything a ranger does. Just hearing isn't enough, you need to understand the things you hear and your whole surroundings with all your senses. Vibrations on the floor, breathing sounds, how to not leave such trails behind and so on.

Both girls were baffled because all that he said made sense, even though his cultivation was weaker and he had no idea of their specialty while on battle.

-Wait, I know how to use my hearing perfectly!

-If you did you'd be a lot more powerful. Can you even tell how many fingers I just lifted on my back?

-Three.

-The right answer was four. That's one death for you.

-It's just a…

-If you're fighting a rogue, one extra finger can throw a hidden blade at you. If that blade is poisoned you die, if it's not, you are hurt and unlikely to avoid any other blade he throws.

With that she shut her mouth.

-It seems a constable is here to hear my case. Bye, do try to keep living on the right way even with all the difficulties.

-And so I believe someone was taking woman and left their corpses to the goblins to hide proof.

-As the captain of the guard, I thank you and apologize for the inconvenience. To even bless the bodies before burning than…

-No need, you can thank me by finding the bastard who organized this and getting him executed. I may normally be a cold person, by my mother was a lawyer, and I was teached since little to respect the laws and hate such beasts.

-Wait and it shall be taken care of. Again, I can't express how grateful I am.

-Good day officer.

*nods*

(To think an adventurer would be the one to solve the cases of disappearances on the city… the guards have become weak. We must train ourselves again. I can't leave all the job to civilians no matter how righteous they are. If only he had a higher rank… the post would become much more efficient.)

And that is how Aki's first interaction with the law went.

By the way, he did try to pass a good image, but he actually cares for the death of lots of beauties. A little about the man too since he couldn't tell if they were good or bad people, but the corpses were mostly female.

What happened was that while he was killing goblins he founds the throne/treasure room, where a lot of women were captive. No, it wasn't just twenty, those were just the adventures.

Killing the goblins was easy thanks to their frailty and the fact that all of then had a minimum amount of mana, which could be pouched with mana steal even if they were just corpses, though not much or the magic stone would break.

Otherwise, shamans and archers in great numbers would actually be a pain to run from instead of an easy and distracted target.

After all the goblins were dead, one girl started moaning and crawling. She was the only one who could still do so.

"Where are you hurt, can you talk? Here, drink some water."

Aki obviously runned and tried to help. Instead of touching her he made a stone fountain and filled it with water, then he made little stairs so she could stand herself up to it.

Right after he noticed that was stupid and made a plate with water go directly in from of her.

After drinking some gulps with her face in the water, she actually turned to look at Aki and murmured something.

"I can only do some basic aid if we need to get out of here, so please focus on…"

"kill… kill me…"

No snot or tears came out of her face. She just pleaded as if she was a broken record. No emotion on her voice.

That made Aki shut his mouth. Only hatred and cold fury in his eyes.

"Understood"

None of then suffered anymore. The goblins did. Their woman and children not so much.
