6 Years prior to the awakening of the Avatar, an orphan named Luke is living on the streets of Fire Nation occupied city, Citadel. How his story will fit in with that of the world's savior is yet to be revealed...
The story was very well written, but it had nothing to do with the Avatar world! Literally in 64 chapters not a single bender was included in the story. All of the MC's friends disappear in one way or another from the novel, so this doesn't even contribute anything to the future volumes. Basically, this entire volume 1 could be summed up in a single sentence as a prologue in volume 2: "Luke grew up in the slums and enlisted in the Fire Nation army." There, that's it. The entirety of this story in a single sentence, without missing any crucial information. I feel bad to put this so bluntly since the author obviously put a lot of effort into this, but this first volume is pointless to read

The writing is great overall with few grammar and spelling mistakes, but great never the less. I read this book quite late with the next two books already out so I won’t comment on the update stability. The story was a wild ride with many great twist and no holds barred, I loved it, but I won’t say anymore to avoid spoilers. This book’s best aspect is it’s world development it really fleshed out the characters and world to minimal words and trusted the audience to think for themselves to build on that with clues and story beats. All in all great beginning to this series.
