Viridian Forest
After leaving the Viridian City Pokemon Center, Ash along with Misty went to the Poke Mart to buy some Pokeballs. After purchasing some Pokeballs, some potions and status healing items, Ash walked to Route 22 just left of the Pokemon Center
Upon reaching Route 22, Ash encountered a wild Mankey. He threw out Bulbasaur to battle with the Mankey before throwing a Pokeball to catch it. After successfully catching the Mankey, Ash looked around for some more Pokemon, eventually encountering both a male and female Nidoran and a wild Spearow
"Alright, both the Nidoran's have good natures namely. Adamant (+Atk -SpAtk) on Nidoran male and Timid (+Spd - Atk) on Nidoran female. No need for excellent IV's at this point since they are common and I can always breed some 6x31 Pokemon later on." Ash thought as he headed towards the Pokemon Center along with Misty to heal his pokemon
After healing his Pokemon and deciding to keep both Nidoran's in his party, Ash went back to Route 22 to train his Pokemon. After a couple hours of training, his Nidorin Male evolved into Nidorino and his Nidorin Female evolved into Nidorina
Misty watching on the sidelines said in surprise "Wow Ash! You just caught both of them but evolved them both on the same day!"
"Well, according to my knowledge, both of them were pretty close to evolving naturally which caught me by surprise too," Ash replied as they both walked back to the Viridian City Pokemon Center to heal his Pokemon again

Ash and Misty then walked north of Viridian City towards Route 2, then headed towards Viridian Forest. After walking for a while, Ash encountered a Caterpie. "Yuck! Bug type Pokemon!" Misty cried. "It's alright, bug types are still Pokemon after all!" Ash teased
"This must be the same Caterpie that Ash encountered in the Anime, should I let it go with the Shiny Butterfree once it evolves? That sure was a tear-jerking moment.." Ash thought before sending Pikachu out for battle
"Go Pikachu! Use Thundershock!" Ash shouted, Seeing a Pikachu attack it, the wild Caterpie used String Shot to slow it down and attempt to escape. "Oh no, you don't, Pikachu spin and cut the strings with your tail!" Ash shouted in response
"Pika! Pikachu!" Pikachu cried as it cut the strings then used Thundershock and defeated the Caterpie with one attack. Ash then threw a Pokeball and caught the Caterpie. "Alright, it's getting dark now. Let's get some sleep, Misty!" Ash replied as they went back to Viridian City for the night

That night, Caterpie shared its dream in which it evolved into Butterfree with Pikachu who doesn't stay inside its Pokeball. The next morning, the trio went back to Viridian Forest for Ash to catch more Pokemon
After searching for a while, Ash caught a Weedle along with a Pidgeotto inside the forest. On the way to exit Viridian Forest, they encountered some trainers who were easily defeated by Bulbasaur and Pikachu, as they came closer to the exit. Team Rocket appeared to try and snatch Pikachu once again
The Team Rocket Trio said-
"Prepare for trouble!
And make it double!
To protect the world from devastation!
To unite all peoples within our nation!
To denounce the evils of truth and love!
To extend our reach to the stars above!
Jessie!
James!
Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light!
Surrender now, or prepare to fight!
Meowth!
That's right!"
After muttering their motto, Ash directly sent out Caterpie to use String Shot to tie them up, then Pikachu used Thundershock directly sending them flying off into the sky. Suddenly, Caterpie evolved into Metapod as Misty tried to be friendly with it!
"Oh right, this happened in the Anime as well. Well, now I gotta find a Kakuna and a Beedrill before we leave Viridian Forest." Ash thought
"Oh right Misty, I need to catch a couple more Pokemon before we leave. Stay here for a bit, I'll be back." Ash shouted as he ran back into Viridian Forest along with Pikachu on his shoulders
"Ah geez!" Misty shouted as she sat on a nearby boulder to wait for Ash's return

After successfully capturing a Kakuna and Beedrill, Ash encountered another Weedle. Suddenly a boy dressed as a samurai who called himself Samurai challenged Ash to a battle, naturally he agreed since battles train Pokemon and he gets money for winning
Sending out Bulbasaur against Samurai's Pinsir, Ash who was in a disadvantaged position due to typing. Shouted for Bulbasaur to use Vine Whip and grab the Pinsir then spin with it in the air making it dizzy then throwing it at a nearby tree, afterward Bulbasaur used Tackle and defeated Samurai's Pinsir
Samurai then sent out his Metapod which got defeated the same way even with Harden. Suddenly a swarm of Beedrill appeared chasing after Ash and Samurai. Ash sent out his Metapod and used Harden until it couldn't use it anymore, Bulbasaur and Pikachu were returned to their Pokeball, however, suddenly a Beedrill attacked Ash from behind Bang!* Metapod using its hardened body blocked the attack however a hole appeared on its shell
Immediately after, from within the shell, Metapod evolved into Butterfree and used Sleep Powder to put all the Beedrills to sleep along with Team Rocket who somehow came back to Viridian Forest. After saying his farewell to Samurai, Ash quickly ran back so that he didn't keep Misty waiting for too long
After a while, Ash returned. Misty said, "Hmph, so now you decide to return!". "Ah sorry, a few things happened on the way back, let's go to Pewter City!" Ash replied as he headed towards Pewter City. Once they arrived in Pewter City, the duo headed towards the Pokemon Center to recover their Pokemon
