Pewter City Gym
After healing his Pokemon, Ash along with Misty walked outside and saw Flint briefly before going to train his Pokemon. Once Ash was satisfied with his progress, he decided to challenge the Pewter City Gym Leader, Brock to a battle
Inside the Gym, Brock accepted his challenge and immediately battles with him. Brock sent out his Geodude whilst Ash sent out Bulbasaur. Ash had a brief check over Brock's Geodude before being attacked by the Geodude
"Since you won't attack first, then I will! Geodude use Rock Throw!" Brock shouted. In response, Ash shouted, "Bulbasaur use Vine Whip to grab the rock and send it back then use Vine Whip again to hit it in case it dodges!"
Bang!* Both the rock and the vines hit Geodude causing it to take critical damage, "Geodude! Use Defence Curl! Then use Tackle!" Brock shouted. "Finish it off! Bulbasaur use Tackle then grab it with Vine Whip and hurl it away!" Ash shouted
"Geodude quick! Use Sand Attack! Then use Tackle!" Brock shouted. "That won't do Brock, Bulbasaur use Vine Whip to form a dome around you!" Ash said in response
Boom!* Hitting the vines, Geodude is unable to battle. The referee shouted, "Geodude is unable to battle!". "Thank you," Brock said as he returned Geodude into its Pokeball
Holding another Pokeball in hand, Brock shouts "It's all up to you, Onix!". Without giving him any time to make the first move, Ash shouted "Bulbasaur use Tackle to get closer!"
"Onix! Use Bind!" Brock responded. Bang!* Being hit by the Tackle, Onix becomes damaged but still holds the Bind. "Yikes, if that hits, its gonna do a lot of damage." Ash thought
"Alright, Bulbasaur jump onto its head and repeatedly use Vine Whip!" Ash shouted. Believing in his Onix's defense, Brock didn't call out another command, after a dozen or so hits Bulbasaur jumped off Onix's head. Suddenly, Onix's body falls to the ground defeated
"Winner! Challenger Ash and his Bulbasaur!" the referee shouted as he swung the flag down towards the ground. "Alright, I'm going to be battling Misty soon after this." Ash thought as he returned Bulbasaur into its Pokeball

Brock then walked up to Ash with a shiny badge on the palm of his right hand and handed it over to Ash, "You deserve this! The Pewter City Gym Badge! This will be proof that you defeated me!" Brock said smiling
"Thanks! Do you need to take care of your siblings now?" Ash asked. "What?! How did you know?" Brock asked suspiciously. "Ah, I saw a middle-aged man who you seemed to resemble and saw him giving things to 10 or so children who called him "Dad," Ash said
"Also the referee looks a lot like you and Flint, also I did notice the others watching from afar in the midst of our battle." Ash continued
Suddenly Flint appears out of nowhere and says "Brock! I know I've wronged you by leaving your siblings up to you and leaving with your mother to pursue our own interests. I know your dream is to be a Pokemon Master as well as a Pokemon Breeder! Your mother and I had a chat, we decided to stay here to look after your siblings whilst you go on a journey!"
"No! What about your interests? I don't blame you or mother, thanks to you two. I'm really close with my siblings, besides who will be the Gym Leader if I leave?" Brock cried
"I will!" One of Brock's siblings shouted. "What? Forest! You're too young, will you really be able to handle the responsibility?" Brock said. "Brock! You've taken care of all of us by yourself for many years, its time for us to do something for you!" Forest replied
Behind him, the rest of Brock's siblings shout "Brock! We'll be ok! Dad will take care of us! Go and work towards your dream, we all wish for you to be happy!"
"You guys!...." Brock said as he cried. Behind him, Ash firmly grabs Brock's shoulders and nods. On the other shoulder, Flint does the same thing. After rubbing his tears away, Brock faces his family and says "Thank you! I will achieve my dreams for sure! Just wait for my great return!"

As Ash and Misty head towards Mt. Moon after recovering Ash's Bulbasaur. Brock comes chasing after them and says "Ash! Misty! Can I join you on your journey!?"
Turning around, Ash waves and shouts "Of course you can! Welcome aboard, Brock!" as Brock comes running closer to the duo. After Brock caught up, Ash says "Alright, let's head towards Mt. Moon then onwards towards Cerulean City!"
