Chapter 8

As they arrived at the restaurant and confirmed their reservations they were led to the VIP section which was in a secluded place upstairs, Anna had never actually been to this restaurant before but she had a feeling that their VIP section wasn't just for ordinary guests and for Dean to take her there and by the looks of it being empty she could tell that he had booked the whole VIP section making her blush cause she felt really important for him to do such a thing for a last minute date.

"Here you go." Dean says as he pulls her seat out for her.

She sits and places her clutch on the side of the table as he soon sits opposite her.

"This restaurant is really nice." She says as she fiddles with her dress underneath the table.

"Oh thanks." He says with a huge grin

"Why are you smiling?" She says confused.

"Oh yeah I can see how me smiling like that is weird, it's technically my restaurant though so I was happy that you liked it. That's all, you know how people get when something that belongs to them is praised." He says as he signals someone.

Anna sees that a waiter comes with menus as he says something to them but she wasn't even listening, all she did was pay attention to Dean. She thought he had done much to reserve this place for their date making her feel giddy but now she felt like an idiot seeing that this was his restaurant, he wouldn't even need to stress himself to get reservations here, she thought as her smile soon faded away a bit.

"Anna."

"Y-yes." She says as she snaps back out of her thoughts.

"What's wrong you were frowning." He says with a frown appearing on his face.

"Oh it's nothing, I was just thinking that's all, don't worry about it." She says as a small smile forms on her face.

"Oh okay." He says smiling back at her.

"So seeing as this is a date." She winks at him playfully.

"Yes beautiful." He says as he returns her playful wink back to her.

"I'd like to get to know you." She says as she smiles at him.

"Oh and what would you like to know Garcia." He says with a smirk.

"Most things I guess, your age, the month you were born, how many girls or guys you've got with." She says with a grin. "I don't discriminate."

"Well Garcia, I'm 28 years old, I was born on October 17th and I'm totally straight so I've never got with any guy if you were wondering but I've got with girls and with the way they come back to me then that just proves that I'm really good, if you were wondering beautiful." He says with a wink as a small smirk appears on his face.

"What about you Garcia?"

"Well I recently turned 26 last month, which was the 31st of July, I'm straight too and I on the other hand have only ever been with one man." She says with a sigh as a frown seeps onto her face. It had been three and a half years but everytime she thinks about Dustin she can't help but feel sad.

"I heard about your husband and I'm sorry for your loss." He says as he places his hand on the hand she had on the table.

"He must have been a wonderful man seeing as he was able to have had such a beautiful and incredible wife such as yourself." He says as he gives her a warm smile.

"Thank you. He truly was." She says as a tear escapes her eye.

"I really wasn't sure about going on a date you know but everyone had been telling me that it's been too long and that I needed to move on but it's really hard moving on from someone who I had loved with all my heart and spent most of my life knowing and falling in love with, you know." She says as she sniffles and uses her unoccupied hand to clean the tears that had begun to run down her cheeks.

"I understand what you mean Annabel, I lost my parents twelve years ago, I was only 16 with a company on the verge of bankruptcy and no one to guide or take care of me, I had to fend for myself and figure out how to run a company on my own, I know it's not the same as losing the love of your life but I lost people I loved, so I know a bit about what you're going through." He says as he squeezes her hand softly.

"So you don't need to worry about whether you're moving on too fast or too slow in front of me because any pace you decide to move in is fine by me." He says as he gives her a reassuring smile.

"Why are you so nice to me?"

"What do you mean?" He asks as a confused look appears on his face.

"Why do you feel the need to assure me and make me feel better, if it's to get in my pants well don't even try it cause I literally have zero to one experience, I mean I had sex with one man all my life, who knows if I'm even any good at it."

"Why do you always assume that all I want from you is sex. I mean is that all I want? No." He paused as he soon answers his own question. "Will that be an added bonus? Well hell yeah but that doesn't mean that, that is all I want from you." He says as he winks at her. "Although it wouldn't be half bad either."

She rolls her eyes and pulls her hand away from his as she folds them.

"Well then if that isn't what you want then what exactly are you after because if it's my family business or money well I have nothing to do with their company I only accept their money because they insisted that I shouldn't work cause it'd be bad for their image if their only child had to work even though they are rich. Plus we also made a deal, Dustin and I take money from them and live in that house if we wanted them to accept our marriage and although he didn't want their handouts he caved in because he loved me and I loved him too and I still love him so we decided to accept it, well he finally decided to accept it after I had begged and coerced him to."

"I don't want your families money or company Annabel God is it too hard for you to believe that I wanted to go out with you because you're a really beautiful woman, someone I thought seemed like they'd be really intelligent, someone I felt I'd be able to converse with and someone whom I imagined would be fun to be with, you caught my attention at your parents party and you just didn't seem like the kinds of girls I've gone out with before so I assumed I'd ask you out and see where we go from there but then you refused my date and decided we could hangout which I'll admit got me intrigued but I was okay with because at least I'd get a chance to see you, talk with you and maybe get to know each other more but then you called and said you wouldn't mind it being a date instead which made me happy seeing as maybe you felt the same pull as I did but then now here we are talking about whether you think I approached you and asked you out because you're I want to get in your pants or because you're apart of the Garcia family to be honest I don't know why you would think this, maybe I acted in a way that made you think like that but I definitely didn't ask you out for your families wealth or business so don't worry about that." He says as he laughs bitterly at the end.

"Dean I-I'm sorry I didn't mean that it's just, it's hard being my parents only child, every guy wants to sleep with me or marry me because they think it would help them gain access to my family so I was always weary about guys I had come across, plus it didn't help when my family always tried to set me up with their friends or business partner sons." She says as she laughs thinking about the times her mom and dad had set her up on numerous dates when she was younger.

"Dustin was the only one who loved me for me you know, he was an orphan who tried his best and got a scholarship, we became friends and it soon turned into something way more and before I knew it we were married, yes it didn't help that my parents didn't approve of him but they later did give in and we had a wonderful marriage, we both wanted kids too but that dream didn't happen." She says looking dejected.

"I understand Anna, I wasn't trying to make you feel uncomfortable or sad or anything. I just didn't like that you thought I was after your family's money."

"I'm sorry too I never should have said that, you've been nothing but sweet and you did nothing to deserve what I said." She stretches her hand forward trying to place it on his as she gives him a warm smile.

"Water under the bridge." He says as he smiles back at her.

"Let's just order before we get into another argument." He says as he winks.

Anna couldn't help but laugh at his statement.

"Yeah I think we should see as we mainly never agree on anything ." She says as she chuckles at the end.

"And who's fault is that Mrs Garcia." He says as they both soon begin to laugh.

Dean signals to the waiter whom soon comes to take their orders and in no time their foods are delivered to them, they talk more whilst they occasionally eating their food, as a few jokes are said, some arguments are had, they get to know more about each other and all in all it was a very successful first date.
