wolves at the heel
In front of me I see a forest with tall trees that reach nearly 80 meters high blocking almost all the sun from reaching the forest floor. I can see few wolves prowling in the dark waiting for people to wander into there claws as easy picking not daring to get near the town where guards are posted at each entrance.
" Time to see how powerful these wolves are." I say out loud as I start walking towards the forest edge with its tress towering over my head. I spot a wolf looking at me through the brush getting ready to pounce at me. I take out my sword going into a guarded stance while facing the wolf.
The wolf snarls at me with all teeth showing a piece of rotten meat in its front K9's. It lunges at me with incredible speed baring its fangs immediately going for my throat. "Woah that things way to fast!" I haven't even gotten a chance to check its level. I immediately roll into it going beneath the wolf as it's in midair.

Oh great that damn instructor could of at least warned me I need a group to fight this thing! I decide to fight anyway at most I'll die and respawn. I charge at it while chopping down onto its neck with all my strength. But the wolf twist its body to the side and slams me with its whip like tail sending me flying through the brush and into a tree.

A damage indicator appears above my head losing nearly a qaurter of my HP in a single hit from this thing. Damn so it uses its tail to fight as well? I roll my shoulder trying to get the pain to go away and ready myself for the next attack.

Before even had a chance to stop the world from spinning I'm slammed again being sent into another tree coughing up blood in the process.

"Fucker!" I tell as I see the wolf charging to finish me off. I parry its attack "DING!" and roll back losing another 3 hp from the recoil of the parry and launch myself st the still stunned wolf. with all my strength I launch my swords tip into the bottom jaw of the wolf sending it up into its skull.its let's out a growl as its body goes limp and dies from having its brain punctured with my sword.

Wait I killed it? it still had full HP? That's right mortal wounds like chopping a head off or like stabbing the brain will kill most beast immediately. "Few damn that thing was ruthless in other games the monsters usually pause after attacking you to give you a chance to situate yourself I got lucky there if parry hadn't of stunned the wolf I'd be dead." I think to myself as I pull my sword from its head and loot it.

Not bad for my first kill in game. I assign all my free attribute point into agility. I definitely dont want to be in a situation where I cant even respond to my enemy do to his speed. When I'm done assigning my points I hear twigs breaking behind me and I see 3 wolves staring me down. They look pissed did I kill there brother or something?

Damn it, I immediately turn around and sprint for the town gates knowing that I have no chance to beat any of them I'm low on HP and I only killed the last one do to luck. Springing at full speed I hear the wolves chasing me while snarling at my heels. I feel them getting Closer and Closer while my back is covered in cold sweat. I try to force my self to go even faster when suddenly.

With no time to care my speed increases by a good margin as launch towards the town barely dodging a swipe from a wolves claw. The moment i make it into town i drop to the floor gasping for air as I look behind me seeing the wolves glare at me before turning to return to the forest. Damn that was way to close I need to go stab that trainer for nearly getting me killed.

I tilt my head to see a beautiful girl with black silky hair wearing silver plate armor and a Japanese style sword at her hip her eyes looking at me curiously trying to see my face that I hide behind messy hair. "Ya I'm fine nearly got turned to dog chow but it's my fault for killing one of there brothers I suppose." I say as I get off the ground
"Oh? you killed a Wind wolf on your first day you must be level 5 them to do that" she looks at me with surprise on her face. I scratch my head embarrassed" Actually I was only level 1 when I killed it by luck.
"Luck you say...well alright still very impressive to kill a wolf at level 1 none the less. Though stupid you even attempted to in the first place"
I laugh I and reply " Its just a game so what if i die at most it will set me a level back and I'll learn not to make the same mistake the next time I meet that enemy. For me playing this game is anyway to challenge myself since in the real world life is pretty boring and not challenging at all."

" I came over wanting to ask you after I saw you outrun those wolves if you wanted to join me an my party to hunt a little?" I dont see any hidden Ill intent in her eyes so I shrug my shoulder and agree "sure why not I've got nothing better to do but first I need to stop at a store"
"Sure I'll come along" she says as she turns around to follow me. We walk down the street to a store I saw earlier name " Aurora clothing and apparel" and walk inside."Hello welcome to our store is there anything I can help you find?" a cute cashier comes over to welcome us with spring in her step almost skipping.
"Ya do you sell an masks?" I ask while looking around"masks is it sure come this way" she says while trying to peek at my face that's hid behind my hair. We follow her to the back of the store where I see a section that sells what looks like belts and hats as well as a wall of masks lined up neatly." masks are commonly used with adventurers such as yourself so we keep plenty in stalk take your pick the price varies around 50 copper for a nice one but they are as cheap as 5 copper for a simple one."
I look at all the masks they have and see one that's all black with a matte finish covering the entire face other then 2 wholes for the eyes it's got a somewhat tear drop shape with a rounded chin I pick it up and try it on. It's a very comfy fit and seems to have a magic the adjust the size and fit accordingly to the user. "I'll take this one" I say as I face the cashier and push the hair out of the way of my eyes as to not cover my face anymore.
The chair seems to freeze while looking at me taking a moment to regain her composure before smiling and taking us to the front with hurried steps. wonder what that's about. I look over at blossoming moon only to see her solo froze in place before taking a little longer to regain her composure. " sorry about that it's your eyes they way the peer through the mask is mysterious and kinda unnerving."
I look at her with confusion "Oh well my bad i just wanted to cover my face so i cant be recognized in the outside world." it's true since there is no character customization in the game all people have there real looks. she looks at me as of to understand then smirks " you sure it's not cause your really ugly and dont want people to know "
I laugh " ya that to I so hate the way people look at me for my looks in real life " I mock myself and then look at her she seems to have realized that she might of struck a sore spot for me or something and might be regretting it " sorry I was just joking I didn't think it really was a reason" she looked down at her feet. what a sweet girl.
" Dont worry I'm stuck with my face through my life nothing I can do about it you arnt going to offend me with a joke like that " I laugh as I pay her shoulder she kinda jumped when I touched her but didn't back away.
when we get to the front counter I pay 35 copper for the mask. Guess it was more expensive with the magic enchantment on it for the size fitting. We leave the store and start heading in the direction of the north gate again to meet up with her friends to go hunting.
On the way their moon looks at me and asks " are you surprised to meet some one like me on your first day in the game?" I look at her confused." you mean a pretty girl? my neighor is quiet the beauty as well so I'm used to it."
She looks at me weirdly then remember that I call her pretty and she blushed " Do you not know who I am? " I look her over once causing her blush again then glare at me."No I dont recognize you or anything why who are you?"
"Never mind it's not really important who I am." she looks at the rolls her eyes."Well now i do know you your blossoming moon the prettiest girl I've met in game so far."she glares at me "So far? you know you arnt to good at complimenting girls are you?"
"Compliment? I was just being honest I'm not going to say your the prettiest girl in the game when I haven't seen the rest of the girls in game wouldn't that just be liking to you?" I say in complete honesty. She looks at me in amazement and cant seem to find any flaw in my logic so turns away and continues walking not saying another word.
When we reach the gates I see 2 other girls standing there arms crossed bored as hell looks on their face. as soon as they see moon they get excited and run over " moon what took so long we been waiting forever now " a cute girl with blond hair says while hanging in moons arm " " Sorry I made a friend who I invited to join us on a hunt to see what he can do."
" he could of said no, let me guess just want to get close to you and get some benefits huh?" says the other girl walking up while glaring at me. She's quiet pretty with black hair and brown eyes that sparkle though she's glaring at me right now, She is no way inferior to blossoming moon.
"shush cloud he doesn't even know who I am so I doubt he's here for benifits" Blossoming moon says while scolding the other girl. the other girl looks at me while laughing " He doesn't know you? does he live under a rock or is he stupid. Everyone that plays games knows who you are." she says looking at me with disdain.
I look at her and say " so I'm scolded for trying to get close to her for benefits then when you find out I dont even know who she is you look at me with disdain? Isnt that a little small minded?"
" Small minded! your small minded I'm just saying everyone knows who she is." she says not backing off a bit." Well sorry but I really dont know I only play games for fun usually to challenge myself that's all. I dont mean to offend by not knowing your friend." I decide to just concede better then trying to argue with her.
"hmmph what ever like I care about who you know or not just dont get any funny ideas about moon and we won't have a problem."she says glaring at me."Oh? is it like that?" looking between moon and her wondering. "no!" they both shout while blushing. so it is ahhh I see. nodding in understanding.
"dont worry i have no plans to make a move your girl, personally I'm not a very attractive man I wouldn't burden a flower with bad weather." I say, like i said in the past i may be handsome but I'm not attractive frankly i choose to avoid people in real life but this is a game so it won't be a problem.
"As long as you understand your position" she says while turning away as if not to bother with me anymore, I just shrug my shoulders. moon finally comes over "Alright now that you guys are done flirting let's get to business I'll invite you to the party snow"
