Chapter 4: Pain long since forgot

A cold shimmer crawled up my spine. The room became dark, so dark that I could barely see my own hands. In the distance a glimmering white object began to sway left to right. Each time, disappearing for a second and then reappearing, getting bigger with each swing, probably because it was approaching me.

The sounds of an old broken down door began to creepily open, I tried to look around but I still couldn't see anything. Something scrapped my arm, but it was to dark to even see it. It was so quite that at one point I thought I had lost my hearing. Thud, thud, thud, my heart began to beat and it was as if it were beating for the first time. Suddenly without any warning a scream appeared, the scream of a lady in danger. I turned around just to see and within seconds the cries and screams of everyone began to appear, it was the sound of everyone from my kingdom being drained dry.

Suddenly a light appeared above me and began to expand. It blinded me for a moment but when I opened my eyes, what I saw was something from a nightmare. What I saw, was from another life time. I saw my people. Surrounding me, decaying into the nothingness I thought I had left them in. Corpses amongst corpses, men, women and even children, their blood still lay painted on the walls and streets. The smell forever tainted the air. I fell to my knees my heart, it felt as if it were being squeezed and crushed from within. Before I knew it, all the corpses that layered around me, began to stare at me. Their colourless eyes and their blood drained body's began to move as if they had one last mission, a mission to kill, a mission to kill me.

Blood replaced the tears I shed, pain replaced the fears I bled. Like the Nile river, memories I thought had long since gone came flooding back in. I could feel the pain everyone had felt like the snow on Mount Everest started to melt so did my obliviousness. It was as though I had been turned back into human, feeling the pain and suffering that everyone endured because of my selfish desire to become stronger, I snuffed out their light, and they existed no longer.

I closed my eyes in hopes to perish in this pain, for that's what I thought I deserved. But when death did not come, and the screams and cries became undone. I opened my eyes, and to my dismay, Dracula appeared. With his hand wedged inside my chest, gripping onto my heart, he smiled and said, "come to me, it is time."

Immediately after hearing those words. I awoke back into the Cafe, back into the reality that was and is about to be destroyed. Realizing it was nothing but a bad dream and probably a sign I quickly readjusted my senses and calmed down. Everyone was already freaking out over the catastrophic events that seemed to erupt out of nowhere. Eventually the rumbling and shaking subsided. But the experience was still fresh in their minds so they where hesitant too calm down. People where holding on to the tables, chairs, their loved ones, themselves, some even held onto their food like they knew they where going to survive so they didn't want to drop their food. The news suddenly came on, reports of disasters around the world came flooding in like it was 50% off at the womens clothing aisle. It was chaos and trauma. But little did everyone know, this, was just the beginning.

Soon monsters began to creep out of the shadows. Bringing with them quite possibly the end of human race. If, this was a matter of time, humans have run out of it.

As I looked around I realized how truly pathetic and weak humans are, but as I turned to look at Emma, it was as if she was excited, it was as if it was the best day of her life. The smile on her face was not just breath taking but also, kinda scary. She had her cellphone in her hand, and as quickly as she answered a call, I suspect from her boss, she ran out of the building, like it was her birthday or something. Before I could react she came back and said, "I'm so sorry, I have to run, this is big news and well it might just be career changing" I tried to utter in a word but alas her excitement was just to overwhelming. "Again I am so sorry, I would love to catch up another time if you don't mind and also..." She looks at the time, "shit... I have to go, again so sorry" and just like that, she left. The so called date had come and gone within minutes.

As I walked down the road, Panic and turmoil rushed through the streets like a festival, the balloons and confetti, where replaced by relentless winds that blew old news paper in circles. How funny life is, one moment you're smiling and laughing your guts out, the next you're on your knees, praying as tears fall to the ground. Praying for safety praying for protection, praying to a being that will never answer. I've done my share of devotion, now, I no longer feel any emotion, but... A thought rushed through my mind like a wooden bullet, weakening me. "What about Emma." I nearly fell, if it wasn't for the graffiti wall it would have seemed like I too began to pray.

Soon night will fall, covering the land in darkness, and sounds that have never been heard before shall be heard by even the deaf. Life will never again be normal for man, or monsters.

Death, clouded the air, smothering anyone, causing a gag reflux, I bet for even the old lady who lives next door in my flat, she should just roll over and die by now, she literally doesn't believe in having a bath. Anyway, I jumped up onto a building and just watched or rather spied, on what was going on. An agonizing sound crept from an alley way. Gaining attention of a near by workaholic, she was scared but also curious, "incase someone needed help, I have to help them if not me then who" is what I thought ran through her mind because if not that then she's just a genuine blond chick. Simply oblivious of anything ominous. As she continued to travel into the alley she spotted movement, as she got closer she saw a leg and a hand creeping aside a dumpster... she got even closer "are you alright?" She asked concerned about the person. As she placed her hand on his shoulder, he turned around and what she saw might have even scared me.

Blood and rotten skin, simply dangling off of his face, teeth and bone as visible as your reflection. It was an instant kill, she died of a heart attack. And was eventually eaten by... a Zombie.
