Aftermath

The next day, Magnus sits at the computer in the Magnus Lair, still feeling emotionally broken after the heartbreaking moments he faced the night before. He watches the morning news report on the computer screens. The report tells of the events of the night before, and the revelations that came to light. Commissioner Keith was reported dead, with Sergeant Carter reportedly having disappeared during the ensuing event. A massive reorganization of the police department is currently underway to ensure that all corruption in the department is dealt with. Max Kade along with his men have been arrested, and will be sent straight to a high-security prison within the next few days. The report also identifies Ariel Queen as the Benefactor known as Ariel Magnus who was responsible for the crime wave that had lasted for five years. Despite having reportedly died in an explosion, no remains were found, save a few flesh parts, but nowhere near enough to make up a human body, let alone a whole arm. The end of the report confirms the existence of Omega Magnus, the super vigilante confirmed to have defeated and apprehended Max Kade, discovered the massive corruption of the police department on the highest level, and stopping Ariel Magnus the Benefactor.

In an interview with Lord Mayor Charles Damian, he offers his comments on what has transpired. "The last five years had been horrific for this city, but we finally had the truth revealed. I am deeply saddened having found out that one of our brightest citizens was in fact the one behind the despicable crime wave we've suffered, along with the amount of corruption plaguing the police department. But if there's one positive thing to say, it's that we have a man who is not just a vigilante, but a guardian and a protector that we truly needed in this difficult time. Omega Magnus, thank you. Thank you on behalf of the city, it's inhabitants, and from the bottom of my heart."

Dallas comes around after the news finishes and sits next to Magnus.

"Are you alright Steven?" Dallas asks,

"Why didn't you tell me about what I am?" asks Magnus calmly, with Dallas sighing in defeat. He had tried to keep it all a secret for years.

"I never wanted you to grow up being looked upon as a freak." says Dallas, "I'm certainly not proud of being created in a laboratory, and your aunt and I struggled for years trying to convince ourselves that we can live a normal life in this world. But sometimes life just isn't fair."

"Do you know about how you and Aunt Stefani were created?" Magnus asks,

"It was a secret military experiment with the goal of creating super soldiers. Who was behind it all, I don't know. Clearly no one wanted the world to find out about any of this."

"Can you try and find out more?"

"Well I'm not a tool for the government anymore, so I have a lot of free time on my hands."

"Let me know what you find, okay?"

Dallas gives his son a pat on the back, and stands up and leaves.

A few minutes later, EJ comes around and sits with Magnus.

"How are you doing?" EJ asks,

"Fine." Magnus says, "It's a lot I'm processing, but I'll be fine."

"I'll stick by you no matter what, and your dad is back in your life, so you're in good hands."

"Thanks EJ."

The moment is interrupted by a flashing notification from the computer.

"Well so much for peace and quiet." EJ says, "We got a group of criminals hitting the bank on Elizabeth Street."

"I'm on it!" Magnus says as he heads to suit up.

"Oh yeah, your dad says he can help out with completing the assault vehicle." EJ replies, "It should be ready within the next three months.

"Oh well, gotta get the most out of this assault bike while I can." Magnus says.

Deep down, he misses Ariel. The time they spent together, the moments they share and the bond they had before everything that happened, will endure in his heart.

But he continues to push forward. The city still needs a guardian and a protector.

Be good, and people will take notice and aspire to you. That's what his aunt taught him.

The criminals still lurking in the city are on notice.

Omega Magnus is on the prowl.
