Chapter 26

"Now that would be an issue. Do you remember anything about them Xander?" Lillian was more focused and serious now. The fact that someone from her Kingdom would do something makes anyone terrified as to why.

"I do remember his ears being too pointy but he didn't sound the same to me. Clara how could you point him out?" Xander was thinking back to the brief interaction.

"What do you mean he didn't sound the same? He sounded exactly the same," Clara was confused how Xander wouldn't pick up on him sounding the same.

"Clara does my voice sound different?" Xander was doing something, she could tell by Emmett's reaction.

"No," Clara said blankly.

"So that's how you recognized me. The voice trick doesn't work on you. I thought it was because of the timing you knew it was me but you actually knew." Xander had a bit of amazement in his voice.

"Yes. I'm confused because your voice has always sounded the same," Clara didn't like this realization.

"Clara it wasn't. We all heard it as something other than Xander's real voice. This stays between us four though okay? No one needs to know that this has been figured out. I will have my people handling it," Lillian was quite serious and waited until both Clara and Emmett nodded. "I know there's a few fairies in the past who couldn't be tricked by the voices but never a human."

"Yes it is rare that they cannot be tricked no offense to you two but your minds are much weaker," Xander added in before standing up. "Anyways I would like to see my parents while here for a bit so I will be excusing myself. Clara stay in the castle, it's the safest place here."

"Yeah I'm going to be talking to Brento anyways. See you around," Clara smiled at him and Xander left.

"Well I guess that ends lunch. I'm glad to see you are doing better and please try to have a discussion before tonight. It would be great to have a celebration tomorrow," Lillian also left to attend to other business Clara assumed.

"Well I guess that leaves us Emmett. Let's get someone to take us back to where I was resting," Clara stood and one of the ladies already approached them.

"Back to your room?" she had a very pleasant and sweet voice.

"Yes that would be great," Clara tried to match her politeness as the lady began to lead them back.

"So are you going to take the offer?" Emmett was a little nervous.

"I don't know Emmett. It just all too much you know? I know Brento could help me out with it but I'm gonna end up freaking him out first," Clara just realized something as well. Her impairtor was lost when she was kidnapped. "Oh I don't have an impairtor! How am I supposed to call Brento now?"

"You can always contact him through mine. It'll tell him whose trying to call him after a few tries," Emmett kind of shrugged and got his impairtor out. Once they got back to the room the began to tedious process. It took maybe ten tries to finally get Brento to answer the call.

"Finally! I need to get a new impairtor and have you give me access again," Clara was a little annoyed at how long it took.

"Yes that's true. Where are you Clara? That definitely isn't the health center," Brento was looking around at the background.

"Well... um long story short Emmett and I are in the Fairy Kingdom in the castle. Sorry we didn't tell before we left," Clara gave a nervous looking smile and Brento looked like he was about to fall out of his chair.

"And how did you end up there? I don't think the Fairy Queen just up and invited you," Brento said and that got Emmett laughing so hard. "Wait she did? What in the world could she have wanted? Also you look so much better so I'm guessing she also healed you."

"Yes she did heal me and I'll be forever grateful for that but there is a reason she wanted me here.. You can't mention this to any of the council until I say so okay?" Clara wasn't going to say anything else until he agreed.

"Oh this is gonna be interesting. I won't say anything until you tell me to," Brento's word was everything too.

"She wants me to become a princess of the Fairy Kingdom," Clara just blurted it out and once again Brento looked like he was about to fall out of his chair.

"I'm gonna be in so much trouble for keeping this information Clara!" Brento wasn't too loud about it but he definitely made his point.

"Well it was either you agree to that or I would be deciding this alone. Sorry but I couldn't do it alone.. well I needed an adults help with this not just Emmett's," Clara clarified it some more because of the look she was getting from Emmett.

"Did she explain why?" Brento was definitely stressed because he was rubbing his forehead.

"She wants to build a better relationship between the fairies and the humans. She wanted me to be the bridge. Lillian has actually had someone watching over me since I had arrived home. She wanted to know what was up with the mysterious girl and realized maybe I could help," Clara wasn't going to go into the personal reason either. She knew Lillian also wanted to protect her and had been watching her a much longer time.

"That would make sense. How would this work anyways?" Brento seemed to be relaxing a bit more.

"Well anything regarding the Fairy Kingdom will stay between me and the Fairy Kingdom unless Lillian decides otherwise and it goes the same for you guys. Anything regarding the humans stays between me and you guys," Clara felt better after explaining it. The more she talked about it the more it made sense to take the opportunity.

"That would work great. What responsibilities would you have?" Clara could still see the concern on Brento's face. He was never one to hid it.

"Basically I would always know what's going on in the Fairy Kingdom. Otherwise I'm a princess in name like others who are not the ones inheriting the throne. At least I would think so, " Clara was kind of leaning on her hand.

"Well that's not too bad. There's some cons of course. You'd be seen as even stranger no offense, a fairy guard would always be at your side and I know that Galor wants himself or Sachell with you no matter what. The pros I believe out weight that. You get the respect of the fairies, you are helping our world become more connected and you have the protection of the fairies which is probably the best thing to have." Brento had finally set his impairtor on his desk and sat back. "In the end of the day it is entirely your choice though."

"I know... I think I'm going to take it Brento. Like you said they will protect me as well not that the humans aren't enough. Thanks for letting me just explain it to you," Clara had a bright smile and was finally feeling like herself again even if everything was different.

"I'm always here to help. You can always ask Maddox too you know that right? He is always willing to help," Brento wanted to remind Clara of that.

"I know but I honestly would have no idea how to approach him about this whole thing. Do you mind maybe inviting them for me when you have the all clear?" Clara had one of those cheesy smiles but Brento shook his head.

"This is your choice you should tell them. Hand me over to Emmett and go tell the Queen of your decision," Brento was still smiling though. "I can't wait to watch the council freak out about this."

"Maybe don't tell them until they are here?" Clara suggested as she handed the impairtor over to Emmett. "It was my choice so I will tell them myself."

"Fair enough now hurry up. Any longer and I'll end up in trouble," Brento ushered Clara.

Clara got up and walked to the door. There was someone standing guard there. "Hey can you tell the Queen I've made my decision? or have someone do it?" Clara was very awkward about it. She wasn't used to having to ask someone to do something like that.

"Yes ma'am," the guard stepped a little into the main hallway. Clara stayed to watch as her message was passed to a female fairy.

"Thanks!" Clara smiled the guard as she went back into her room. "That's so weird! I didn't want to like wonder off because I don't know the castle."

"That did seem weird. Like I'm used to asking the gnomes for help but they look so similar to us it feels off. It was so weird when one was helping me get dressed," Emmett muttered the last part. He seemed to have struggled with that but it was understandable, Clara was kind of used to it since Katryn has helped her.

"This dress is way too complicated for me to put on alone in all honesty so I didn't mind the help," Clara chuckled and walked back over to the bed. "Lillian will probably get here rather fast."

"Yes I assumed so that's why I didn't want to hang up," Brento was still there and it was a little weird. Clara hadn't entirely gotten used to the impairtor as there was no backing to where Brento's face was.

They sat in silence as they waited. It didn't take too long before there was a soft knock at the door and Lillian walked in. "I heard you had come to a decision?"

"I did and I accept the offer to become a princess to fairy kingdom," Clara smiled and Lillian looked so excited. It was a good thing Brento couldn't see her.

"Wonderful," Lillian spoke as calmly as she could. "Councilman Brento you are allowed to tell the council now. I hope this won't cause any issues."

"We already have that worked out," and Brento clicked off after that.

"I didn't tell him how long you had actually been watching and protecting me, only that it started when I had returned home. I also didn't mention that one of the reasons is you want to protect me," Clara made sure to mention that so nothing got confusing.

"Thank you for that. It could have caused some serious issues," Lillian had a large smile and went to sit down on the bed. "So next is your parents correct? and the other boy you hang around?"

"I don't know if inviting Avery is a smart idea Clara," Emmett began but she cut him off rather fast.

"No it is. If you don't mind could you do a quick healing on him? Make sure that the poison in him is also gone," Clara asked Lillian knowing that it could be a no but hoping it wasn't.

"I don't see why not. Now let's tell them the exciting news!" Lillian basically snatched the impairtor from Emmett.

"There's also the issue of my adoptive family. I don't think they would cause an issue but I also don't know if it'll be too overwhelming," Clara kind of rubbed her neck. "This is so complicated."

"You can ask them if they want to come, and they can decide if it's too much. Maybe they want to see it too, " Lillian made a great point. They know what they can handle.

"Okay, you can call them up since you seem so ready." Clara joked but Lillian did in fact call them up. Of course she knew who her parents were since Xander was always around.

"Hello Mr and Mrs. Heartfelt. I am the Fairy Queen Lillian and I've been happy to have your daughter here. Truth be told I've had one of my members of the fairy guard watch over her since her return and I've really learned about what an amazing person she is. I've also heard of her strong actions as well as being shown them. As you most likely know fairies value strength, loyalty and wisdom among its kind and to help build a relationship with the humans I have decided to name Clara on of the princesses to the Fairy Kingdom," Lillian blurted everything out. Didn't even give a second for Maddox or Katryn to think!

"Well that's amazing but maybe we should talk this out a bit," Maddox looked straight at Clara as she went into view of the camera.

"About that Maddox.. I already discussed it with Councilman Brento and agreed to it," Clara started rubbing her neck again. It was almost becoming a nervous habit.

"Oh alright. I guess that was a wise choice," Maddox did seem a little disappointed but then had a confused look. "How did you even end up in the Fairy Kingdom?"

"Katryn you didn't tell him??? I've been here all day!" Clara had a shocked face as now it was Katryn's turn to get the stare down from Maddox.

"Yeah I guess I was so glad she was healing you I forgot I didn't tell you Maddox," Katryn was nervously laughing and it was kind of a mess in all honesty.

"Anyways as per the crowning of a princess there is a ceremony and festival tomorrow which you are all invited including Clara's adoptive family should they choose. Clara mentioned them being here when talking about who to notify," Lillian stepped in to continue the original conversation.

"Oh yes we will certainly ask," Katryn's smile was of a very proud mother. "When would you like us?"

"Everyone should be here tonight. Hopefully the council will be meeting to help bring y-" there was a loud sound as the doors opened on the other side.

"Yeah they are definitely here and not very happy... We'll be there soon," Maddox shook his head very subtle.

"Don't mention the whole thing yet unless they bring it up. I was going to tell them. Also make sure to stop at Avery's incase he does want to come" Clara added in quickly.

"No problem kid," Maddox smiled before hanging up.

"I guess that leaves Avery.." Clara's smile had left her face. "I'll do that one myself Lillian. If you could just have someone let me know when they get here?"

"Of course but you'll probably hear them before being told. They did not seem very happy," Lillian cringed a little before getting up and handing Clara the impairtor. "See you for a big dinner."

"See you later," Clara gave an attempt at a smile as Lillian left.

"I can ask him if you want?" Emmett offered but Clara shook her head.

"No I should do it.." Clara pulled up the impairtor call list and called Avery.

"What now Em-" Avery didn't finish as soon as he realized it was Clara.

"Hey, uh I wanted to invite you to the Fairy Kingdom. The Queen offered me the place of a princess and I decided to accept. Also you should probably be healed by her too just in case all of the poison wasn't actually gone you know?"

"Yeah I was wondering where you went off to. I woke up to you not being there and I got worried but all Elijah would say was to not worry. He wasn't much help," Avery was talking kind of fast and muttering.

"Avery, I'm not upset about it. I'm sorry I threw an orb at you. That poison was really messing with me but that still isn't an excuse." Clara gave him a soft smile and he returned it.

"No it's an excuse especially since it came from me. Don't be sorry about it. I am just glad you are better and I'll be there," Avery was a little more like himself now but it might be awkward for a bit.

"I told Maddox to come get you but from the sounds of it the council is pretty mad so you might want to head to my home." Clara kind of chuckled.

"Looking at you making the council mad again already. I'll head over there," Avery signed off after that and Clara handed Emmett back his impairtor.

"You should have made him apologize," Emmett commented and Clara just rolled her eyes. "What? He was rude after everything you did."

"Well I had already gotten him back with an orb to the stomach so all is fine," Clara and Emmett both laughed.

"That was a pretty good throw," Emmett smiled.

They weren't alone for too long as everyone arrived and Xander came to get them.
