"Before we get into the disaster, just wanted to say I am glad you are a princess of the Fairy Kingdom Clara," Xander did a silly little bow and motioned for them to follow.
"Is it really that bad already?" Clara groaned when Xander nodded.
"Really isn't that surprising. Probably Councilwoman Andra," Emmett remarked on the side and sure enough it was when they walked in.
"What is the meaning of bringing a human child here? She had no permission to come here and isn't even accustomed to this world yet," Councilwoman Andra was the one in fact causing the most problems.
"Oh so you actually care now Andra? Anyways Lillian saved my life today because the poison was killing me. You have a problem with her being so generous as to save a human child?" Clara smiled as she walked in and nodded towards Lillian who was standing on her own looking at a lot of humans.
"She should have come through the council and not had someone basically spying on us Clara. That breaks the treaty," Andra turned towards Clara and Emmett. "I wondered why he wasn't in this party but that answers it."
"I wanted to make sure Princess Clara wasn't alone during her healing. She was severally ill and so I asked Emmett to come along," Xander so causally said princess and it got everyone's attention.
"They didn't know about that title yet Xander that's why they are freaking out," Clara nudged him with her elbow.
"Uh oh.." Xander trailed off and walked to stand next to Lillian, pulling Clara behind him basically.
"Did I just hear that fairy properly? Princess?" Shoven was the first to talk out of shook looking at Clara. The only one truly not shocked was a Brento out of the council.
"Yes you heard that correctly. Lillian has decided to offer me one of the places of princess. Now obviously I won't be the heir because that makes no sense but this is her way of showing she wants to create a better relationship with the humans. With us," Clara smiled as she thought through whatever else she was going to say.
"And making you a princess was the way to go? Lady Lillian you could have always come and talk to the council about doing such things. Clara does not need to keep this position as it is such an honor in your Kingdom. We can work together to build a bound without you having to give up a very high and respected position," Shoven was smiling as he said this but the look on Lillian's face was lethal.
"I will not have you tell me how to run my Kingdom. I made my choice and I will stand by it with no regrets. I couldn't have chosen anyone better as Clara almost died saving her friend. That day she showed true strength, wisdom and loyalty. If you think otherwise I suggest you leave because you will not be welcomed at the ceremony," Lillian stood firm and stared at mostly Andra.
"I don't think it was any of those. It was stupid that she took on the poison," Andra countered and look directly back. "She almost killed herself for what? She went and got herself held captive because? It was all truly unnecessary."
"How was it unnecessary? She knew the captures wanted her alive and she knew that both her families were being harmed. Clara saved everyone by sacrificing herself because if it wasn't her friend Avery stabbed it would have been someone else. Maybe she wouldn't have been there to help and if she hadn't taken on the poison how else would they have gotten home? You are really closed minded. There are many solutions to one problem and Clara did the fastest one. In the end the least amount of people were injured especially since she healed Maddox before being taken herself." Lillian was extremely angry. Clara didn't really get why this was such a big deal to Andra.
"Look," Clara stepped literally in between the council and Lillian. "We both have our differences and how we look at different situations. If we want to make this work we have to look at it that way," Clara had set up a barrier between the two so nothing could cross but it was definitely draining.
"What's the barrier for?" Maddox finally spoke up. No one really knew what to do between the two different leaders.
"So no one does anything uncalled for," Clara glared at Andra. What no one knew is she could feel someone using their telepathic ability and was trying to get into Lillian's mind carefully. "Now that no one can, let's stop the arguing please. It's a lot to process that me as a human is being named a princess in the Fairy Kingdom so why don't we have them shown their rooms so they can process it Lillian? That way everyone can think and calm down before dinner."
"That's a great idea Clara," Lillian was back to smiling although it seemed force to Clara. "My helpers will all show you to your rooms. Clara's families and friends will be closest to her and if I remember her adoptive human family is here too? Or did they decide it was too much?"
"We are here," Clara adoptive dad smiled. He was still scarred from the incident and so was her sister.
"Alright you guys will have the room that is adjoining to Clara's so if you have any problems she can help you. I understand this is a bit overwhelming and us arguing probably did not help the situation. I do apologize for that," Lillian clapped her hands afterwards and everyone was shown to their rooms leaving Lillian, Xander and Clara. Emmett was also being shown to a separate room being shared with Avery. "Well that went worse than I expected."
"Yeah it was about how I expected it. They are really controlling," Clara rubbed her head as the barriers went down. They'd only been up for maybe five or ten minutes but it was a lot of energy.
"You drained yourself holding up those barriers, didn't you?" Lillian walked over and gave Clara a hug. "Thank you for that though. I don't know what would have happened if it had continued."
"I had a reason," Clara hugged Lillian back and smiled. "Don't worry thought. They'll get over it at some point."
"Yes I know but it is just so weird. You'd think they'd be overjoyed hearing that one of their own was going to be given such an honor in another kingdom. They also looked at what you did to save your family as unnecessary which is really rude," Lillian shook her head at the thought and just smiled. "Anyways let's hope dinner goes much better."
"I think that's all we can do. I better go help my adoptive family settle in and I want to be with them too. It might help ease the memories away," Clara sighed and looked over at Xander. "You gotta lead the way because I still don't know where I am going."
"I know," he chuckled a little and so he led her back to her room. Her adoptive family was already waiting inside having found the hidden adjoining doors.
"Hey," Clara smiled as her sister ran and gave her hug.
"Clara! I know that I wasn't always the nicest sister and I'm really sorry for that," her sister did seem really sorry for once.
"Don't worry about it," Clara took her sister's hand. "I am going to get rid of all your scars but it'll feel a little funny okay? I've heard it feels like your floating," Clara wanted it to seem less scary because she knew her display beforehand definitely was.
"Okay," her sister giggles. As Clara began to heal her, she kept giggling and was amazed too when she began to glow where all the scars were. "That's so cool," she was so excited.
"I know it looks cooler to see it on someone else so I'm gonna heal dad now," Clara walked over to her adoptive dad. "Sorry you guys got sucked up into my mess of a world. I am really glad you guys came though."
"We are too," he gave her a big hug that her mom joined in. "We know you aren't our biological kid but you will always be our daughter."
"And you'll always be my family. I wish I could have explained back then why I was acting so weird," Clara had been crying a bit and wiped away the tears. "But that is in the past and you guys know now. Let me get you healed up and then I'm gonna have to rest a bit."
"Worn out already?" It would confuse her dad but she took his hand instead of answering and began healing him. Her sister stared with amazement and so did her mom. "That an incredible power. Are you the only one with it?" Her dad was curious which made Clara rather happy.
"No there is four healers total for humans. The one you saw earlier," she held out her hand and a sphere appeared. "This one no one has and they have no idea what it is."
"That's crazy. You should rest like you said. I didn't realize you'd be worn out so soon since you were healed," her mom was smiling even concerned.
"I am still gaining my strength and this power when used like those big barriers really wears me out. I won't be sleeping but just relaxing. Why don't you guys get used to your rooms and what not because I'm sure more people are gonna end up walking in here." Clara kissed her mom and dad on their cheeks. "Not that I don't want to spend all the time in the world without you guys but if you couldn't tell I just caused more issues."
"I think the whole Fairy Kingdom could. Who knew you'd be such a troublemaker?" Her mom joked as she hugged Clara again. "And we understand that you have a new life. We'll knock before coming back over."
"I love you guys," Clara smiled as she walked with them over to the door.
"We love you too," they walked to the other side of the door and shut it behind them.
"You have a visitor," Xander said from the door so Clara wiped away the tears that had started to form.
"Were you listening?!" Clara turned around to look at Xander.
"I wanted to make sure he didn't interrupt your time with your family," Xander simply explained and Clara rolled her eyes.
"Never any privacy. They can come in," Clara went and sat on the bed. She was tired from the use of her abilities but she knew she would be talking to a lot of people.
"Sure thing," Xander turned around and motioned for the person to come in. It was Councilman Shoven and as such Xander walked in this time and shut the door that way instead of waiting outside.
"Xander was it?" Shoven said turning around. "If you don't mind waiting outside."
"I will not rely anything I hear but from earlier I would much rather not leave Clara alone with anyone in the council. I didn't like what was being said to her or about her," Xander stayed at the door.
"Clara can you get your guard to leave? This is a human matter," Shove was basically struggling to say those words.
"Xander it's okay. Don't listen in this time either on purpose. You'll know if I need you," Clara gave him a pleasant smile and he nodded. He slowly left the room but she knew he didn't want to leave. "What can I help you with?"
"Clara you should have come to the council when Lady Lillian asked you to be a princess. This is much bigger than just you," Shoven was already beginning to scold but before he could get too far the door opened.
"Councilman Brento is here. He requested to come in immediately," Xander had a smile this time. He knew Brento was on Clara's side.
"I told him to stay in my room," Shoven scoffed.
"He can come in," Clara watched as Brento walked in.
"We also agreed that if Clara was going to be talked to that either I or one of her parents would be in here," Brento scolded from the room.
"Well what did you expect? She made a decision that effects everyone on her own and didn't think to tell anyone," Shoven moved closer to Brento.
"Actually she didn't make it alone. I encouraged it and saw it as a great opportunity for her and the rest of us. This is a great way to help build a relationship by allowing one for the fairies to get to know Councilman Shoven. Out of everyone I thought you would have seen it," Brento walked over to Clara.
"You knew about this and decided not to tell any of us? Brento the entire point of the council is to rule as a whole!" Shoven was furious at that discovery.
"It was by request of Lady Lillian that I keep it to myself and by request of Clara so she could tell you herself," Brento was extremely calm about the whole thing which Clara believed made Shoven even more mad.
"Brento this compromises how we rule," Shoven began.
"Oh that was ruined when you decided to put a ring that damaged Clara's cells. Actually it was ruined a long time before that. Don't even go there," Brento wasn't entirely wrong.
"We gave a fair punishment to someone who clearly has no idea what they are doing. Also Clara used her barriers against us," Shoven moved his hands drastically.
"So that was you?" Clara gasped a little. "You out of all the council tried to do that?"
"Clara what are you talking about?" Brento looked utterly confused.
"He was trying to read Lillian's mind," Clara transmitted it just in case Xander was listening. She had it so both could hear.
"Are you mad?!" Brento basically screamed into the link. "You are so lucky Clara stopped that. You are even more lucky she didn't out right tell Lady Lillian!"
"We had to see what her thought process was. How come you stopped that Clara? You are hiding something aren't you?" Shoven was trying to turn it around on Clara.
"Don't you dare start with her Shoven. She had been nothing but truthful to us," Brento wasn't entirely wrong. Clara had just with held information that wasn't necessary.
"How would we know that huh? She can trick an empath with no problem," Shoven and Brento were kind of acting like Clara wasn't there.
"So that makes her dishonest? And even if she was she clearly has a reason," Brento almost started inflicting. Clara could feel it and she guess that was kind of on purpose to scare Shoven.
"Okay that's enough," Clara stepped in rather fast and set up a barrier only allowing the telepath through. "Arguing does absolutely nothing but Councilman Shoven trying to read another leader's mind without permission is not going to help create a relationship and you should know that. You are gonna start a war and the humans cannot handle that with the fairies. We are similar in all but one way, our minds break when we physically hurt someone."
"And if there was a war who's side would you be on Clara?" Shoven was serious about that question too.
"Neither side. I'd try to stop it before anyone did anything dumb which is exactly what you tried to do. Does the rest of the council know what you tried to do or did you make that big decision all on your own?" Clara was using Shoven's logic against him.
"I made it on my own," Shoven was being so hypocritical.
"So how is that any different than what Councilman Brento did besides the fact that it was helpful instead of destructive?" Clara stared right at Shoven as she asked. He didn't say anything. "Exactly. Now I am making the decision to end this conversation. You have now both drained me entirely and if something's going to happen it isn't happening here."
Clara dropped the barrier and went to open the door. "See you both at dinner. Thanks for the visit," Clara said the last part sarcastically but had a smile anyways.
"How come it went so quiet those last few minutes?" Xander looked at her with a suspicious look.
"Because it was a private conversation and them yelling out loud didn't make it very private. There was also stuff mention that wasn't meant to be out loud," Clara looked around and walked back into the room. "Now I definitely need to rest now."
"Yeah okay. I'll tell people that," Xander was a little confused but shut the door.
Clara went and laid down in the bed. She hasn't meant to but she ended up falling asleep. Using her ability on such a large scale twice in an hour really drained her.
Clara was woken up but Xander maybe an hour later. "Avery said he needed to see you right away. He wants to talk more," Xander whispered it as to not freak her out with being loud.
"Yeah," Clara yawned as she sat up. "Come on in Avery."
He walked in after a second and Xander walked out to stand in front of the door. "Nice guard you got there," Avery joked.
"Did he explain who he was?" Clara asked as she made room for Avery to sit.
"Huh?" Well that was a no.
"He was mystery man," Clara laughed as the look of shock went on Avery's face.
"Well no wonder the Fairy Queen knew the incident so well. She must have watched his memory of it," Avery laughed of a second. "Also makes sense why he kept trying to make me stay behind him. I really should have listened."
"Yeah you should have," Clara smiled and Avery sat down next to her. "Anyways so I created a whole mess with the council again," she said jokingly.
"No kidding. What was the point of the barrier anyways? No one was going to try anything," Avery didn't realize that someone had.
"I had a feeling," was all Clara said. She didn't know how to tell anyone about what Shoven had tried to do but she felt wrong keeping it a secret.
"Like an ability being used feeling or a gut feeling?" Avery had a raised eyebrow.
"Who knows?" Clara looked at the door and back at Avery. "Besides I can't even say anything I want to."
"What does that mean?" Avery looked at the door too.
"Watch," Clara whispered very softly. In a normal voice she said again, "Xander," nothing else. Just his name and from the distance between the door and where she and Avery were, he shouldn't have been able to hear it unless he was actively trying.
"Yes Clara?" Xander said open the door. He stood in the doorway.
"Are the council still all in one room?" Clara watched as he looked down the hallway. He was using his telepathic ability.
"Seems so. Is it for the reason they were here earlier?" Xander did have a smile but it was obviously just fake.
"Yeah. I might go talk to them again," Clara shrugged. "That's all thank you." Xander nodded and shut the door.
"Oh yeah I see what you mean," Avery laughed a bit and settled closer. "Why was the council in here earlier?"
"Well it was just Councilman Shoven and then Councilman Brento came in. They started arguing and I had to make it telepathic because of reasons. I think I should go talk to them before dinner," Clara got up and stretched. "Wanna see that mess?"
"You think I'd miss it?" Avery got up to and they went to the door which Xander was already opening.
"You can stay here okay?" Clara looked at Xander.
