The message left by Mr. Kim kept Sammie agitated the whole time. She doesn't have a craving for food but she forced herself to join her colleagues for lunch otherwise she will die of over thinking. When they finished lunch she decided to visit the restroom first to freshen up. She doesn't want to look haggard and all when President Lee deliver her the bad news.
It was already ten minutes after 1 pm when she returns to the manager's office. She took the white envelope inside her bag and walks towards the President's office.
She knocked on the door twice.
"Come in."
She took a deep breath, opened the door and step inside.
"Good afternoon President Lee. You called for me?" she greeted him while standing in front of him.
"Yes, sit down" he said without looking at her.
He signs the document in front of him and move it on the side afterward. He puts his elbows on the table coldly stares at her.
"Miss Saavedra, do you know why I called you her today?"
Stunned by his question Sammie composed herself and looked at him.
"Yes sir I do. I know It was my fault so here is my resignation letter. I will own up to my mistake." She handed over the small white envelope to him.
President Lee took the letter and read it. After a while he crumpled it and threw it on the trash bin near his table. "Do you think I'll make it easy for you. You want to quit ha? You lied to me therefore face the consequences." He thought.
"And why would I accept your resignation letter?" he said arrogantly as he crossed his arms.
Sammie was puzzled and shocked of his reaction. "But the reason you called me here is because you no longer want me an employee of your company. I lied and you hate it so I'm making it easy for you by submitting my resignation letter." She answered mumbling.
"Miss Saavedra, do you think I'm an unreasonable leader?" he furrowed his brows while asking.
"Ha? No you're not." She replied in bewilderment.
"Then why did you think that I will kick you out of the company because of that incident?"
"I… I… You were mad last night when you caught me." She retorted while lowering her head.
"So you're not that stupid ha?" he thought. "Will I still treat you to dinner if I'm mad?" he sarcastically questioned her.
What he said surprised her. she looked at him in confusion. "What do you mean sir? I've pretended that I don't know you, Aren't you mad?
"Miss Saavedra, Don't get me wrong. lying is something I can't tolerate. I'm extremely disappointed but I'm not mad." He stands up and walk to the file cabinet and picked up a folder. "I've checked your file and your performance for the last three years and it's quite impressive. Besides it happened outside the office and it didn't affect your work." He sits back to his chair and placed the folder on top of his table.
Sammie still can't comprehend the situation. She prepared herself to lose the job and even handed over her resignation letter but to her surprise he didn't take it personally. "Is this my lucky day?" she thought.
"But… although it didn't affect your work performance you definitely lost my trust. How can I work with someone I don't trust?" he opened the drawer and took out another folder. "So you need to regain my full trust."
Astonished Sammie just nodded her head. "President Lee. What do I do to regain your trust?" she asked innocently.
"Here read this." He handed her the folder.
"A Contract?!" her eyes grow bigger in disbelief.
"As should be obvious Miss Saavedra you need to regain my trust therefore you need to work hard in order for you to redeem yourself. The contract will help recover my confidence in you " He looked at her heartlessly.
Sammie scan the agreement. "1. I will be on call during weekends for a month. 2. I should render one hour overtime every day for 2 weeks. 5. I will escort him on events and work related parties. 8. I am not allowed to file leave for the next six months. 10. There will be severe punishment if I failed to comply with the above agreement? Who says he is not unreasonable. He is not giving me sanction it's more of a torture." She contemplated.
"President lee. What if I don't sign it?" she wants to weigh her options.
"It's easy. I'll terminate your employment with LMK Corporation and you will be blacklisted that you can't apply to any company related to ours." He confidently stated the repercussion if she disagrees. "You dare lie to me ha? Then suffer the consequences" he evilly thought.
"Blacklisted? Company related to LMK? It's means I'll be jobless all my life! I recently drained all my savings for the restaurant and now this. He is not bad. He is EVIL!" she told herself.
Left with no choice she grabbed the pen and signed the contract. "I'll do my best sir." She handed it to President Lee.
Martin took the folder and gave her a copy. "Here is your copy Miss Saavedra. I hope you'll memorize it by heart. You may now go" he grinned as she turns her back and walks to the door. She was few steps before the door when he spoke again. "The agreement will take effect Monday." Sammie replied without turning back. "I understand sir." Then continue walking.
After closing the door. Sammie clenched her fist and started cursing in her mind. "Damned you Martin Lee! Pushing me to the edge. Making ridiculous demands. I'll make you regret your decision. Humph!" then walks off.
