The melody filled the air as Dylan played smoothly and progressively, hitting note after note. Luna was swaying lightly with the music and smiling, but inside she was actually open-mouthed with how skillfully he played. Her eyes was not able to contain how impressed she was.
Dylan was doing his best for the one audience beside him. He can feel her enjoying and was glad. He was almost to the part with the sour note and was hesitating on his mind, but then he remembered Luna's words. She doesn't mind. When he got to that part he pressed the key as light as possible. Both lightly flinched as the strange sound came and after that Dylan just kept playing like nothing was out of place.
He was able to finish playing the song. Luna clapped and was smiling brightly when the music ended.
"Wow! That was amazing! You're so cool Dylan!" She beamed at him.
Dylan blushed. He scratched his ear and smiled shyly. "Thank you. You're praising me too much."
Luna chuckled and looked at the misshapen key. She pointed a finger. "Do you mind?" she asked him.
"Not at all. Go ahead."
Luna moved her finger and tried pressing the strange tile. But to their surprise, a weird sound did not come out. Instead, upon contact, the misshapen key flipped up like a spring. It flew up and levitated for a second before falling back down. It landed on her left hand. She looked at the tile in horror, then to the keyboard with a blank space, and then at Dylan who was open-mouthed and as shocked as she was.
Luna became pale as a ghost. She has destroyed Dylan's gift. Will it still be fixed? Can it still be placed back? She was so worried that she showed the misshapen key to Dylan, her hands trembling. "I-I'm really s-sorry. I didn't mean to damage anything. C-can this still be fixed?"
He was not responding. He was just spacing out, looking strangely at her.
"Um, D-Dylan?" She moved her hand closer for him to see.
"Oh." He finally noticed the strange tile on her hand. He picked it up and looked at her. She asked him again if it can still be fixed. Again he did not answer but was fixated on her. Luna furrowed her brows.
"Is something wrong with me?" She looked over herself as he was staring strangely at her.
"This tile," he said under his breath. He looked at the misshapen tile on his hand and back at her. "It ... it's not a piano key, it's a real key." He still felt incredulous with what he discovered.
Luna inclined her head to the left and raised a brow. She clearly doesn't know what Dylan was talking about. He pointed at the keyhole on her chest, the upper half showing above her clothes. Luna looked where he pointed and back at the tile on his hand.
"Wha ..." She finally realized what Dylan was acting strange for.
