chapter 1 The breaking and the making.

It's resumption day, and the first thing a regular student must do, or should I say, the first thing I must do is to chat up my girls.

CHAT

ME- Good morning!

Teni:- Good a.m 😀

Ada:- I still wanna sleep

Mitchy:- I am so bored right now🙄.

ME- I just can't wait

Camille:- Wait? wait for what?🤔

Ada:- here she goes again. You've forgotten, haven't you? we're resuming today.

Camille:- OMG😮 I gotta go, haven't prepared, mum's so gonna kill me.

Teni:- just don't stay long.

Camille:- (logged out)

ME- so girls, cherry lipstick or pineapple?🍒🍍

Teni:- totally cherry

Mitchy:- cherry of course

Ada:- don't you guys think we should try something new

We all agreed on cherry lipstick. And just like that, it's morning already. I got dressed up in my new Senior school uniform, a short pleated blue skirt, a white short sleeve shirt and a red tie, my mum drove me to school.

"good luck dear." she said after dropping me off.

I hooked up with my girls in our new senior class and for a start, we took a group selfie. "MIXES!" we all shouted.

An assembly was conducted, we were all welcomed to a whole new life, a whole new beginning

" your teachers are very nice and caring", said the principal, Mrs. Teju.

well I hope she's right. it was time for us to make plans, what club are we joining? where do we sit? front row or back row? who should we add to the mixes?. We were to all choose out of 7 clubs in the school. The social club, the chess club, the sport and game club club, the press club, the inventory club, the cheer club and the music club. You have to join a club within two days, it's part of the curriculum.

" music club is totally cool, we'll get to spread our lovely voices like wildfire." Teni suggested

" This is a school, not a studio😒, you join educative clubs, like the press club, totally awesome😌." Mitchy opposed.

" well then why is music club included."

Just then, they both started an argument.

" Guys!" I cut in, "stop it! I think we all should relax and think ab..."

"sports club!" Camille cuts in, and the argument continued, and of course Ada joined them. we ended up not joining any club for the day. we all agreed to go home and think about it. so much for a first day in school.

At home, it was really hard for me thinking alone, I've never really done anything without my friends, so I spoke with my mum and all she could offer was a night full of her days in the senior secondary school, she totally bored me up. I couldn't come up with any club, so I went to bed. At exactly 12am, I woke up and texted the girls

ME- Hey girls 🤗

5 minutes gone, no one replied, guess they were all busy thinking. After 30 minutes of waiting for a reply, I went back to bed.

Morning, I felt kinda strange. hooked up with the girls at school. "so anyone came up with a club?" I asked.

There was a total silence for a moment, then Camille broke the silence.

" I spoke with my mum, she said it's best I join the chess club, improves your intelligence."

I wished my mum had told me that. Then Ada spoke

" I'm joining the music club, I look to sing, I can't hide it."

And Teni: "My family is known for their activeness in sports and games, gotta continue the family business, sorry guys 😔."

And finally Mitchy. "I'll stand on joining the press club."

There was another awkward moment of silence, everyone waiting for mine, I had no choice, they all chose different clubs, and so, I decided to join the... 🤐" let's save it for later.

That day, I realized how your love for things, your mum's advise, your family business and how strict you are with your opinions, affects the choices you make. Teni who wants to spread her voice now in the sports club, Camille, the sport lover, now in the chess club, Ada now in the music club, and Mitchy in the club of her choice. Well as for me, my friends decisions affected mine.

It was really hard for me seeing my friends join a club that I'm not in, and to make things worse, my club was the least most important club in the school, 6 years no achievement. We are just four in number, totally awkward. So if you ask me how my first two days in the SSS was, I'd day TOTALLY AWKWARD! 😕.

The day was over and my mood for the day was dry weather 🏜️. My mum noticed me and asked.

"Honey, what's the matter?"

"nothing mum, I'm fine." I responded harshly.

"okay." she said, not minding my response, she knew I was still going to open up, and I did.

" I don't get it, we all agreed to come up with a club for the group and they came up with a club their individual clubs, that's selfish, how are we suppose to be best of friends if we're totally apart, it's absurd, we'd all be like total strangers. I don't know but it's not fair." I was done talking.

My mum looked me in the eye and said. "Sweetie, the higher you go, the more things become complex, and you just have to flow with whatever change that comes your way. it's very important to know that whatever you decide to do should be respected by people who love you. you can't stay the same way forever, you grow, you meet new people and start new things, just give them the best you've got, it's always going to be that way. learn to respect the decisions of people you love and everything's gonna be okay." she pecked me and went to bed.

A mother is actually the best adviser a young girl could ever think of, but I wished she had told me a these earlier. I went to bed that night thinking about everything she told me, then I made up my mind to let things go and respect my friends decisions.

At 12:30 am, I woke up, picked up my phone and texted. CHAT

ME- Hey girls, how was signing up today? mine was weird tho 😕

I waited for 20 minutes, no one texted back. And just as I was about going back to sleep, Mitchy texted.

Mitchy:- Lol, mine was so stressful 😓, was told to prepare for an interview."

Camille:- chess is boring 😵, I'm stuck in it for the next 3 years, so not fair"

Ada:- mine was fun!😎😊

Teni:- had to run a mile to make me qualified, I'm so tired right now 😩."

ME- At least you guys still did something, still better than mine."

We chatted for an hour plus on things we hope to achieve in our various clubs. Now you see how respecting other people's decision helps make our world a better place. The MIXES are back!😃🤗
