You chose me

Kazuya doesn't deny or even try to test the girl's words. He suggests they take a walk so they can catch up. He has been away from her side for too long. He wants to ask her about everything, how is the Kingdom? Has she been managing by herself? His wife is capable, and yet he worries that she has been taking on the burden by herself and not sharing her duties.

'I want to ask her about Rhys.' He wants to ask her directly if she truly has no feelings of love left for him. But, Kazuya knew asking her that now would be too cruel. Right now it's difficult to ask, but they can't avoid the subject forever.

Moreover he recalled the rumors not too long ago about the elders pushing for Lyn to have another spouse. They were already doing that when he was still around, but what about during his absence? For it to become a rumor that even the public heard about it, how much pressure was she in?

If he brings up that subject eventually she will have to mention Rhys. Lyn already has another spouse, but only a few know about it. Her other spouse is Rhys. Back when Lethia became the Queen, she staged an accident and blamed it on Lyn which led to her escaping the Kingdom.

During that time Rhys accompanied her and they escaped to a hidden village, and the two got married there.

Lyn smiles. "I have a better idea."

Lyn's better idea was making flavored ice. It was a food that had gotten popular in the Empire the last few years.

Kazuya understood that the time they have with each other is limited, eventually they will have to turn their attention back to the war. Depending on his decision, they may have to go their separate ways while he continues his journey. This is why he has not only been guarding her — but following through the girls every whim and wishes.

Even if it's silly as having flavored ice in the middle of winter, well, he supposed it is alright, recently it has been warmer. For example today, the sun is actually visible.

Kazuya dropped the work he was supposed to do when he realized Lyn would be alone the whole day. He should have known that the girl's definition of important was something like this.Back when she was still a Princess

He wanted to be slightly closer with her, even if it's only for a short while. Kazuya sat and watched the girl proceed with making more flavored ice. It's chilly and yet there's something about this that's normal.

Over the last few years, Kazuya hasn't had any. His health has deteriorated even more, and so he has been very careful about the food's he consumes.

"Only you'd suggest something abnormal like having shaved ice in winter," Kazuya said, voicing his thoughts.

"I don't want to hear that from the person who uses winter items in the summer," Lyn said drily.

Well, he can't say anything to that. Even now, he still does that, "Aren't you cold in those clothes?" Kazuya wondered.

"I've always been all right with the cold. Besides, this is my favorite outfit."

As she said those words, Kazuya noted his wife was glancing back at him, yet it was only for a moment. He won't be surprised if she's already figured it out. Though she still hasn't guessed that he's been sending her secret messages whenever they are apart, it's just a matter of time before she does. She's sharp after all, maybe she's just messing with him, and she knows already?

His thoughts break when he hears his messenger crystal go off. "A message?"

"Yeah, from the others. That girl woke up, and she's getting treated now."

Lyn was silent for a few minutes, and for a split second, he thought he had offended her.

"You're awfully familiar with loads of girls." Lyn commented.

"Is that what it seems like?"

"Come to think of it, someone in the previous town asked me to introduce you to them."

"Oh," Kazuya said. He figures that the stares he was getting when he was with Lyn were increasing. Kazuya thought that it was the stares from the staff and the girl's fan's - but it turns out it was none of those.

"When she asked, I told him straight up how much of a pervert you are, and how being in a relationship with you is exhausting."

Kazuya sweatdropped when he saw the expression on the girl's face, and the way she was suddenly aggressive while making the flavored ice, she's going to end up breaking that. "She backed off after that."

"Even though you know that's a lie." Kazuya murmurs.

Well, he supposed it's fine. Having a random girl confess to him was something he doesn't want to deal with. Come to think of it, since coming here he hasn't had to worry about that problem. Though at first received a few looks and was hit on quite a bit, but after he recruited that girl, things changed.

"Is it truly a lie? I don't think you're innocent."

She truly isn't holding herself back today. Then again, since they met again, she must have had a lot of bottled up emotions but held herself back from saying it. She truly has changed though. When they met back when she was still a Princess, she seemed docile and meek. However, at some point she gradually became stronger.

"True, I'm not normal, and Rhys isn't either." Kazuya nods agreeing.

Lyn sighed."You're always bringing up Rhys, do you really want me to leave you for him?"

"I'm just kidding my lovely wife." Kazuya jokes.

That is a lie though, he is subconsciously bringing up Rhys due to the guilt he feels.

Lyn didn't notice his unusual behaviour and continues speaking

"In reality, even if I introduced you to other people, it's not like there is any chance of anything happening."

"You never know, the unexpected could happen."

He was only playing with her, of course, Kazuya understood his heart better than anyone. He has met plenty of girls during his travels but none of those girls have impacted him as much as Lyn has. He has never wanted to hug and kiss those girls. From the moment he met Lyn however, he truly felt like it was love at first sight.

"But, that would never happen." Lyn said confidently as she looked at him with a bright smile. "After I fell in love with you Kazuya, I realized how selfish I truly was, and only somebody as selfish as me can handle you."

Kazuya felt his cheeks turn red at her words.

"At least for me, there is nobody else who can control you but me," she turned to face him."Do you have what it takes to betray me? To leave me after everything we've gone through?"

Lyn really does know how to make him speechless. This girl really..

Kazuya looks indifferent. "What if I do?"

What if he truly does have the courage to leave her? What will she do? Naturally he doesn't want to. But Kazuya knows that even if he were to leave. Rhys would be there, Lyn would never be alone.

"If that were to ever happen." Lyn pulls out a small concealed blade. "I suppose, you shall see what it means to be the one at the receiving end of my brutal attacks."

"Oh, that doesn't sound like a joke."

"That's because I don't joke about things that concern you, dear."

Here he was trying to catch her off guard. But she is good - no, her personality is just bad. He wonders what the other guys who like her would think if they know that the person they admire is actually like this. Then again, those guys are unusual too and if they truly like her, they would accept everything about Lyn. "Even if you have a change of heart and like other girls, I wouldn't care because even though there are better girls out there, you still chose me out of all of them. You married me."

Is she sulking? It's difficult to tell from this angle, but it's kind of cute seeing her this way.

"But," Lyn smiled, "That won't happen. I know how much you love me."

This time around, he can't hide the blush on his cheeks. Damm. She is far too cheeky. Still, Kazuya stood up and wrapped his arms around his wife.

"My lovely wife, I missed you so much."

Lyn sighed. "You're so helpless," Lyn put down the flavored ice, and caressed his cheeks, "How much did you miss me?"

"Lyn." Kazuya mumbled her name softly.

"I need you to tell me, do you know how painful it was for me?"

Kazuya chuckled."You really are cute."

"I love you, but since we got married, you keep disappearing. I understand that it was for my sake. But people talk, you know? They say such cruel things about you."

"Do you believe them?"

"I don't, but I can't stand people saying such mean things. Kazuya, come back with me," Lyn murmured, "As long as we're apart, our powers are limited anyway. There is more of a chance of us getting harmed individually, that's why.."

"Stay by your side?" Kazuya finished her sentence.

"Yes."

"I'll come back," Kazuya decided.

Lyn's eyes lit up, "You will?"

"Yeah, let's just get things sorted here first, and then I'll return with you," Kazuya trailed off, "Remember, what we talked about before I left?"

Lyn turned red, the girl's calm and arrogant demeanour seemed to have vanished completely. Kazuya cupped her cheeks, "Can we start on that now?"

"Kazuya.."

"I want your kids Lyn," Kazuya whispered against her lips, "I want a family with you."

They have been married for five years and yet they still don't have any children. The main reason for this is because he has been considerate for Rhys sake. He has been patient and waited until his friend returned. However, before they get any closer. Before Lyn remembers and leaves him for Rhys. He wants to have a child with her.

It's truly irresponsible to have these thoughts. What if she does get pregnant with his kid, and she remembers her feelings for Rhys? It will be cruel on the three of them, and yet just for a bit. He just wants to be selfish for once.

Despite the girl's embarrassment, she reached over, "Okay."
