No Mercy

A groan escaped Magna's lips as he groggily woke up. The light seeping into his room only served to further irritate him as he quickly got ready.

Magna didn't get the best sleep last night as his thoughts kept going back to those girls. He knew he could help Qrow and he also realised who they worked for.

When he was tossing and turning, repeatedly thinking back to the warehouse, a certain memory popped into his head.

Shay D Mann. Someone that Yang was supposed to meet in the future to lead her to where her mother was. A member of the Branwen tribe, a tribe of bandits.

He also understood why Qrow didn't need his help. It was entirely possible that Qrow was going to try and speak with his sister, convince her to pull her forces out of Argus.

However, even though he knew all this, the knowledge did nothing to settle the building frustration in his chest.

He didn't like doing nothing. Magna didn't see himself as a hero but he couldn't stand doing nothing to help when he knew he could something.

And his frustration showed. Once he was called up for his match, Magna wasted no time on his opponent.

The moment the match started, Magna would blast the opposition with a heavily concentrated beam of water. The opponent could only helplessly be sent flying off the stage.

This continued all the way until the final day of the tournament. Magna had been named champion of his pool and was about to find out who he was supposed to be fighting next.

Luckily, Pyrrha had already beaten her opponent and was happily waiting for him in the finals. Seeing her wave to him with her joyful smile, some of the building frustration in his chest disappeared as he waved back.

Magna stretched his arms and legs before leaping onto the stage. He decided to wait for his opponent on the stage.

A few minutes went by and Magna started feeling bored when a figure appeared on the stage.

Her smirking face reeked of arrogance. Just seeing it made Magna's brows twitch repeatedly.

She glanced at Magna with her lively blue eyes as she started walking up to Magna. Now standing face to face, she scanned Magna from head to toe before saying, "Nothing much…"

Magna mentally sighed as he turned away and walked to his side of the arena. The girl just shrugged off being ignored as she yelled, "The names Vernal, kid."

Suddenly, Magna came to a halt. He turned towards Vernal with wide eyes as he mentally muttered, 'What is it with me and meeting the main cast… if I didn't know better, I'd-'

Magna's thoughts were suddenly cutoff as a large chunk of the protective wall surrounding the stage fell to the ground.

Shaking his head, Magna continued to his side of he stage in preparation for his match. Once both Magna and Vernal were standing at their end of the stage, the announcer appeared with a grin as he yelled, "Contestants… are you ready?"

Magna and Vernal glared at each other and nodded.

The announcers grin grew wider as he jump into the air and roared, "BATTLE COMMENCE!!!"

Instead of dashing forward, Vernal opted to keep her distance as she watched Magna's every move. Magna took extra note of the crescent shaped gun-blades on her waist.

Seeing Magna looking at her waist, Vernal grinned as she gave her hips a couple shakes as she seductively said, "Like what you see, little boy?"

Magna almost immediately scoffed as he brutally retorted, "There's barely anything to like. Come back when you can actually fill those pants out and we'll talk."

Magna wasn't wrong. She was a bit younger than when she appeared in the show so she was a bit 'lacking' in the womanly wiles.

Vernal, however, didn't take Magna's reply lightly. With anger in her eyes, Vernal forcefully tore her gun-blades from her waist as she roared, "The fuck you say to me, you little shit!?!"

She quickly shot forward as she unleashed a barrage of bullets. Caught unaware, Magna hastily raised a wall of earth before summoning a large amount of water.

Seeing the large ball of water, Magna grinned as he summoned an equally as large ball of fire.

'Just because I can't use any spells higher than the intermediate level, doesn't mean I can't use my imagination!'

Just as the stone wall broke, Magna instantly compressed the two balls of magic into each other as he roared, "STEAM EXPLOSION!!!"

The small orb of fire and water turned into a ball of light before exploding. Waves of hot air and steam covered the area as the crowd hastily covered their faces.

Once the heat died down enough for people to see, the crowd was stunned.

Vernal was on one side of the stage, clutching her arms as her weapons lay on the ground in pieces. On the other side was a dome made from the stage.

Slowly, the dome fell apart, revealing Magna. He was basically in pristine condition, minus the small gash on his cheek from Vernal's last attack.

Magna was stunned by her battle instincts. Moments before the explosion happened, Vernal broke through the wall and slashed Magna's cheek. He was luck to have fixed it when he did.

Then, when she felt the danger from the little orb, Vernal stabbed her weapons into the earth wall and used it to cushion the explosion.

Obviously, she was dead tired now. Everyone could see her legs and arms trembling as she tired to moved towards Magna.

Magna just sighed as he said, "Give up. Your in no condition to keep fighting."

Vernal scoffed, "Why don't you come over here and see if I'm in no condition to fight?"

Suddenly, Vernal grit her teeth as her body slowly stood tall. She slowly crouched down before shooting forwards with a fierce look in her eyes.

Magna couldn't help but smile. Vernal was tenacious. Even though her body was tired, she stilled continued to fight. And that was something Magna respected.

Sure, he may have used the steam explosion in an attempt to finish the fight quickly but he only did that because he was frustrated with her tribe.

Seeing her will to fight, Magna decided to answer in kind. Taking out his scythe, the crowd softly sighed as they knew it was gonna be a one sided fight when…

*clang*

Everyone, including Vernal was stunned as Magna unhesitatingly tossed his weapon off stage. With a wide grin on his face, Magna stared into Vernal's eyes as he roared, "COME ON, GIRLIE! THIS IS A BLOODY FIST FIGHT!"

Vernal's lips twitched a couple times before curving into a wide smile as she excitedly yelled, "Now your talking my language! Get ready, pretty boy!"
