File 6: Silicon Brutalness (Part 1)

After the case, Gorai Uchi's motive has been identified: Yamato Mafushi had been in debt for a long time, and because of that, Yamato had been cutting the salaries for employees in this company. Gorai hated him to the bones and decided to kill him. Things have been peaceful, not until Conan receives a letter.

"Haibara." Conan walks into Agasa's house. "Uh, Kudo-kun..." Haibara is still typing on her computer. "This is urgent." Conan shuts the computer in from of Haibara, and Haibara looks pissed. "What do you want, Mr. famous detective?" "There is a weird letter sent to me today. The name is 'Kudo Shinichi'. It is an invitation to a museum of antiques in Kyoto." "Why would someone want to invite a detective to a museum?" "Well, the owner of the museum is being targeted by someone. There was a threatening letter sent to him, saying that the owner will get killed, and it seems like it is a group."

After a pause, Haibara breaks the silence, "Are you going to the museum though?" "Well, as Kudo Shinichi wouldn't be good, but as Edogawa Conan, yes. I don't want to become the centre of attention again, especially with the fuzz I made up in Kyoto, I am actually afraid." Just then, Conan's phone rings. "I bet it's Ran," he says as he digs his phone out and accepts the call, "Conan-kun, Oto-san (Dad) has been invited to an antique museum in Kyoto, you wanna come?" "Sure, Ran-neechan!" Conan chirps, like a split personality from before. He cut down the call. "You're not coming?" "Hakase (Professor) is not coming, so I am not coming," Haibara says like she doesn't have a care about the world. Conan sighs, "Fine by me, Haibara."

Meanwhile: Kyoto

"Holmes-san, you ready?" Aoi says. "Sure I am. Thing is, I am getting ready for some case popping up as well. The threat letter is something serious." Yagashira replies. "Well, then, should I come?" Aoi asks. She wants to know what a case feels like. "Um, I'm not sure, but I guess." "Fine. Let's go."

Backtrack: Tokyo

Conan, Ran and Detective Mouri walks onto the train when they suddenly spot a high school class lead by a light-blue haired short boy. Then Conan spotted Amuro-san. "Amuro-san!" Conan shouts, then behind Amuro-san, he sees another girl with another boy. The boy is more tan and has a foreigner's look, the girl looks more Asian. "Ah! Amuro-san!" Ran exclaims, "What brings you here?" "Ah, someone asks me to come to the museum of antiques." "And who are they behind you?" "Oh! I got the letter, too!" The young man says it in English, "My name is Nide tia Ches, or you can call me Rosu." "Rei." says the girl next to the young man named Rosu. "Following those two, Rei-san?" Ran asks. "Yeah," Rei says.

Then Chiharu, Katsuki and Miku come on the train. "What brings you here, Miku-san?" "Ah, I got the letter. I guess your family got one, too." "Yeah." Ran and Miku starts chatting on the train to Kyoto, while Chiharu talks to Conan.

"You know, the other day, in that case," Chiharu starts whispering to Conan, "Who are the people in that Organisation? You seem to know something about them."

"Guess I have no choice but to tell you, but you need to keep it a secret."

"Fine by me."

Conan told Chiharu about the story, starting from the true identity of him and Haibara, the first encounter with the Black Organisation, to the prototype cure Haibara finished making for the drug APTX 4869, along with all the members they know so far, adding information on some of the infiltrating people from different bureaus.

"Well, that is a lot to cope with, Conan-kun." Chiharu finally says after "Conan"-kun has finished. "I know, right? A lot of changes in life, and I have to adapt instantly." "Yeah, it's just like you have a split personality," Chiharu says. The train is almost near the stop to Kyoto. "Well, time sure flies," Chiharu says it with a sigh. What they didn't notice is that there is an ominous plan bound to happen as a group of black figures approaching the same place as the museum opens.

Time Skip...

The group and the high school class get off the bus, just in time with the appointment with the owner of the antique display museum. There is another pair approaching the owner as well, a boy and a girl.

"Are you..." The old man, Mouri Kogorou, looking at the sender of the letter, asks in an unsure tone, "Yoshihara Kasami-san?" "Hai. (Yes.) And you must be the famous Sleeping Detective, Mouri Kogorou!" "Ha! I'm flattered." The detective laughs with pride. Oi, oi, Conan thought. The high school group, leading by the light blue haired Nagisa Shiota (Conan and the others don't know him yet), steps into the museum, while the couple comes towards the owner. "Yoshihara Kasami-san?" The boy asks. "Hai. (Yes.) And you must be the famous apprentice appraisal, Yagashira-san, also known as Kyoto Teramachi Sanjo no Holmes (Simplified translation: Holmes of Kyoto), right?" "Hai. (Yes.)" "I am Aoi Mashiro. Yoroshiku." The girl beside him says. "I still don't understand why you call me here for this threat letter business," Yagashira says. "Step inside. I will tell you all about this threat letter business."

Time Skips: In Yoshihara's Office

"Stop the exhibition now, or you will face great consequences. With a red dot at the corner of the paper." Mouri, the old detective, reads the letter. "Well, that is something we need to be cautious about." Yagashira says, "Let me see the threat letter." "Why?" "Because I might see some details and clues towards the culprit. And I did not ask for this case. It is the sponsor's will." "Fine." The old man passes the letter to Yagashira. Conan, Chiharu and Shizuko sneaks and climbs behind the chair where Yagashira sits. Chiharu gets off the chair first, seeing that she already has the essential features of the culprit. Yagashira thinks for a moment, scanning for the slightest detail. Chiharu hasn't said anything. Shizuko stares at the paper for three more seconds, then goes to Chiharu. Conan scans the letter. The red dot is familiar. Isn' that on the previous one that was sent across Japan? He sees Shizuko motioning him to come to her. He jumps off the back of the seat and goes to Shizuko.

"Conan-kun, you realise the red dot, right? Chiharu says that last time on the letter that was sent across the whole Japan has a black raven with it. What is that all about?" Shizuko whispers, "And..."

"And what?"

"And I actually have an idea about who the red dot is from."

Conan looks at her with confusion. How do you know? As if reading his mind, she answers, "We are a wealthy family for a reason, and that is a dirty past." Conan still looks confused. Shizuko sighs, "I'll tell you later, but Chiharu says she doesn't want to get involved in this case for some reason." For what reasons? Conan thought. What in the world is this mess about? "That's none of your business." Wait, she reads minds? "That question is written all over your face." Oi, oi...

"Anyways..." Conan says, "Did you more or less figure out the person's features?" "Yeah. Judging by the neatness of the letter, I can conclude that this might be a woman's doing, and probably the same as the person who wrote the letter to the whole of Japan. Judging by the face of Yagashira-niisan, he probably got the same thing." Just as she is in the last sentence, Yagashira raises his head from the letter. "Here is my basic deduction, would you like to hear it out?" Others nod, Mouri Kogorou, looks unimpressed. "The culprit is possibly a woman. Even though the glueing of the characters were rushed, the neatness for the cutting gives it away. This might connect to the terror letter sent to Japan, so you must be careful, Yoshihara-san." "As expected from the Holmes of Kyoto!" Yoshihara compliments. "It's just the basics. Also, can I go to the main exhibits? I come here first off to appraise the artefacts that you have." "Sure! You're always welcome!" "Than we will take the leave, sir," Aoi says as they bow and exits the meeting room. "Yoshihara-san is such a care-free person," Conan says. "I can think of several motives for murder already base on his personality." Katsuki says with a smile, as all of them take their leave, "Conan-kun, this is going to be interesting."

"Do you think that this exhibit is safe enough?" The old detective asks. "I have metal sensors to sense if they have some sort of metallic object with them, like a knife." "What about the people inside?" "What do you mean?" "The workers." "Oh, they are assigned with specific jobs and shifts, so they have time to rest and work. If you are not satisfied with the security, check the slots and assigned shifts along with my timetable." As the old man looks through the schedule with the sponsor's timetable, he sighs in relief, "Looks like that is secure. The time for the staffs to have a break is at the same time as when you have a meeting with different people. Just a slight problem, though." Detective Mouri says, "There is a slight gap where you are free, and the staffs are free as well. Wouldn't that be a problem?" "No, it wouldn't be." Yoshihara says with confidence, "It is only a 10-minute gap, and that is the only time where they have a longer break, so they need to treasure that time for rest. Besides, it's just 10 minutes! Who can commit a murder in a short amount of time?" "Then, sir, you better be careful." Katsuki says all of a sudden, appearing behind Yoshihara, "Just one slip and your soul might pass down to the Underworld, the Dead, and you will come to that time when you regret it. By that time, though, it would've been too late." "Don't jinx that!" Ran says with a slight tone of worry. "Sorry for the trouble caused..." Chiharu sighs, "But the truth is, this might be the case, you might be in trouble, so please stay alert, Yoshihara-san." "Don't mind the kids. They are just babbling nonsense. You are perfectly safe. Just be alert with that tiny slot, okay?" "Fine, fine." The words of "I don't care" was written all across his face. Conan can sense the ominous feel, Chiharu sense trouble, too. What if the crime takes place? That would be difficult to sort out. There are a lot of staff members, 200 to be exact. That would take a long time to find the culprit. And meanwhile, the culprit can escape in that time being. Summarising all the thoughts? Finding the culprit for the crime would be difficult. Conan sighs. This is going to be a big problem.

The exhibition was great, full of excitement, and learning of the history of the stories to the artefacts preserved here. Yagashira knows a lot about the works, which is probably why he is an apprentice appraisal, but Conan was surprised by the fact that he is still an apprentice. His skills are superb, both in appraising and deducing. "That's amazing, Yagashira-niisan!" Conan exclaims. "Really? Thanks, boya. (boy.)" Just then, Rei passes by with Amuro and Nide, and Chiharu greets Rei in English, "Hey, cousin! How you doing?" "Great, you?" "The same." Chiharu walks to her cousin and starts a conversation. Cousin? Conan thought. I never know that Chiharu has a cousin. "Oh, that's Chiharu's cousin, Rei Hiro, now part of the Public Police Bureau," Katsuki says suddenly, appearing behind Conan, scaring him half to death. "Goodness me, Katsuki!" "Sorry, that runs through blood, not my fault!" Katsuki says with a hint a protest, but hold her temper to not kill Conan. Runs through blood? Ghostly appearing runs through blood? Conan thought. There is another mystery under a mystery that I want to know the answer of. This is even more exciting.
