Xuan Yu and Mou Lin stood a few feet apart. As if to add atmosphere the winds had suddenly pick up. But from the gray clouds, it was just a sign of rain.
Mou Lin's grey eyes seemed to turn sharper, clearer, his innate talent. The Conqueror's Perception was in use.
"It looks like he isn't in a stance, but certain muscles are tensed while others are relaxed. So, little openings, hell even the ones I'm seeing seem to be traps, impressive." Mou Lin's brows furrowed a bit before he smiled.
"We will be treating this as a spar and since this is about martial arts let us avoid using spells. Other from that feel free to give it you're all. I will leave the first move to you."
For a second Xuan Yu studied Mou Lin. Then he sped off, sending a full force spin kick to Mou Lin stomach. Immediately, Mou Lin jumped back and Xuan Yu lowered his leg. Both standing apart from each other as they initially did.
"Scary, the hell did he learn to do that. A kick designed to disturb the flow of Qi in someone's body. What great grudge do we have that you want to ruin your teacher?" Mou Lin sighed as he looked at Xuan Yu. "Taking the hit or blocking it leads to the same result. And from the looks of it moving to the side leads into an equally dangerous follow-up. The best choice is to move back. But from his results in the spell evaluation. You would be bombarded with spells after. Seriously, scary."
Seeing Xuan Yu unmoving Mou Lin chose to walk forward. Slow steady steps until they were within arms reach.
Mou Lin's punch fired out fiercely. A slight tilt of the head and the blow missed. Xuan Yu's knuckles immediately struck Mou Lin's outstretched wrist.
Without flinching Mou Lin brought up his knee and Xuan Yu strike the side of it with his own. Like that Mou Lin did three more slow strikes and Xuan Yu narrowly dodged and struck back.
Then faster and faster. Mou Lin changed his styles a few times. But Xuan Yu was able to handle each that he switched to. Finished Mou Lin stepped back.
"Since, Instructor Lin has finished testing me. Shall we begin the actual spar?"
"Yeah, thanks for playing along with that. Your style is pretty well rounded. Though it seems spells are a big part of it. So, ignore what I said earlier and feel free to use some."
The moment Mou Lin said that Xuan Yu's hand blurred, and his lips moved, 5 beams of Moon Fire shot out one after another. The moment Mou Lin dodged the 5th. Xuan Yu rippled, and that "scary" kick was set to strike Mou Lin's back.
Already expecting it Mou Lin flipped over Xuan Yu and swept at his leg. Forcing Xuan Yu to do a small jump. While turning his body to face Mou Lin. Realizing his mistake Xuan Yu blocked. Mou Lin's knee crashed into his crossed arms with enough force to elevate him further.
And then Mou Lin leg struck out with a full kick. Releasing his guard Xuan Yu took the blow with a palm and struck back with the other.
As his body was pushed back Xuan Yu's hand blurred and when he landed.
There were suddenly four Xuan Yus on either side of Mou Lin. Each with a finger pointed at him.
"Scary, the moment you fall out of range…" Mou Lin thought as his eyes evaluated the four. The moment the four Moon Fire spells fired out Mou Lin sped off towards the south one.
The four spells erupted in mid-air and a wave of fire billowed out. Mou Lin slipped under the amethyst flames and appeared at the south Xuan Yu as the other ripple clones disappeared.
Mou Lin struck out with a straight punch the moment he reached Xuan Yu. And Xuan Yu countered the same as before. But Mou Lin dodged Xuan Yu's counter by a hair-breadth and gave a counter of his own. Then Xuan Yu did the same. Avoiding that counter and giving one of his own. And Mou Lin did the exact same thing.
Xuan Yu immediately frowned. Mou Lin was using his martial art. Strike after strike coming within mere millimeters of each other. Yet not touching. Then Mou Lin gray eyes seemed to turn lighter almost glowingly so.
Then he stepped forward his attacks not just Xuan Yu's, Unholy Erosion, but other styles he had shown before. Forcing Xuan Yu to move back as the two fought.
Xuan Yu attempted to jump back but Mou Lin caught his right arm with his left. And used it to form hand sings while they fought with their remaining limbs.
Seeing what spell Mou Lin was going for Xuan Yu began chanting and the moment the 5 signs were done.
Two Still Ponds formed between the two smashing into each other as they appeared. Mou Lin then Xuan Yu immediately separated from each other then waited. The two similar techniques that had met seem to warp and meld into each other.
Xuan Yu stretched out his hand in the direction of it. And Mou Lin's brows furrowed.
"This… first forcing me to move back with the threat of detonating it in both our faces. Then aggravating the distortion further to ensure that no matter how I move I'm going to get caught in the blast radius."
Mou Lin turned his gaze to the sky for a bit.
The two spells wrapped into each other and then spread out at random intervals. The Qi around the area began to crackle louder and louder and the area around the spells seem to get blurrier and blurrier.
Xuan Yu drew his entire right side back and the wind in the area seemed to pick up.
"Was he that upset about me using his martial art?" Mou Lin looked at the increasingly dangerous distortion with a tired gaze. "Little Shi, you really had a scary kid."
Mou Lin slightly unsheathed his sword as his grey eyes glowed with light. Faster than any of his students could see he appeared before the distortion and with his sword coated in Qi stabbed it into the distortion. Then sheathed his blade and moved to Xuan Yu grabbing his outstretched arm. Using his own internal Qi, Mou Lin, severed the connection Xuan Yu had made between himself and the distortion.
"How about we call it your win and end it there."
Mou Lin said. His eyes now normal and his blade sheathed.
Only when he heard the voice did Xuan Yu realize Mou Lin had moved. Several members of Class 1-A had been watching the battle with wide-eyed excitement, surprise or a variety of other feelings. Most noticeably so was Lou Jian who was really into the battle from the beginning. Forcing the Hou siblings to play along with his commentary.
Then Xuan Yi whose fists were clenched with an expression close to disquiet on his face.
And Tan Cui who had a lone eye open watching the battle carefully.
