Chapter 4: Goodbye, Online Games!

"Konno Yūki, my waifu! Finally we shall meet in Valhalla!!! Goodbye, cruel world!!!"

A young teenager attempted to commit suicide by jumping from third floor of Gaisano Cabantian Mall. However, his plan was foiled by the bystanders who grabbed him from the railings.

"Release me!!! I don't want to live in this lonely world without Yūki my love!"

Ricardo shook his head. He recognized the youth as a player of the World famous fiction-turned-reality VRMMORPG Sword Art Online. Unlike the one in fiction, the real world SAO is no way a death game. However, the game was so good that people would rather live in such virtual world than to stay alive in the real world (and spend PHP 10,000 or roughly $200 worth of data per month for the sake of fighting alongside their NPC waifus in game).

"Konno Yūki will reject the likes of you, dastard," Ricardo commented under his breath as he passed by while going to a nearby stall.

"Miss, I'd like to buy that one Belgian chocolate waffle. How much is it?"

"36 Pesos, Sir."

"What!? That's like 100% increase from the price three days ago!"

"It can't be helped. The purchasing power of Peso decreased since we got stucked in this new world. No free trade. Limited gold supply. No oil importation. Philippines is left on its own. Worse, our oilfields in Cebu, Palawan and Ligwasan marsh may not be enough to support our petroleum demand. The government should quickly do something before it's too late."

"Terrible, I see. Wait, why? You should be an accountant or an economist! You know alot of these things and, yet, why the hell are you stuck in this job?"

"I was an accountant of Convergys until it went bankrupt three days ago."

"My condolences."

"Thank you and rebound."

Ricardo and the salesgirl laughed bitterly as they contemplated the nation's predicament. Everything is soon going to be downhill.
