61. Recollecting Remorse Part 3

"Oh my god, you both scared us." Feng Mian's eyes widened as he breathed a sigh of relief.

"Get up and come to the room." Binh walked towards the chamber and helped them get up.

The five of them walked to the beds and scattered around the room. Binh and Feng Mian rushed to the table to get glasses of water, as they scrutinized every inch of their tired bodies. Bond gulped down the water and looked at Spence, who seemed relatively calm.

"Wow! You look relaxed."

"It's alright, I am fine now." He said with a straight face. "Regarding the key, someone gave it to me."

"Could you please elaborate?" Bond's empty eyes showed some hope. He seemed to expect a big reveal.

"No. It's confidential."

"Alright." He said as the last flame of hope vanished from his eyes.

Wasn't that the very motive of making this horrible place? Bringing people in from different countries and tossing around their hopes and dreams about, is that what Bright Leaders Academy really was? Their voices echoed throughout the hallway as there was no one other than them, or so they thought.

"What should we do now?" Feng Mian questioned.

"Right now, the best thing to do is to wait." Spence replied.

"Let's do something." Binh's eyes seemed to brighten. "We can head to courtyard and enjoy the day. Who knows whether we will see tomorrow or not?"

"That sounds like a good idea." Pin followed.

"Okay then, let's go downstairs."

They picked up many futons and pillows, as they walked out of the living coffin. Going down the stairs reminded them of Alejandro and Sébastien's untimely death as they recalled the heinous scenes before their eyes. Spence seemed pitiful, Binh looked sad, Feng Mian's eyes were clouded with hopelessness and Pin simply showed no expression on his face. They reached the courtyard and began setting up their makeshift beds.

"They have cleaned the place." Spence muttered.

"More like they have erased evidence." Bond immediately answered.

"Well, true. But at this point we can do nothing for them." Spence said as he threw pillows on the futons, applying the final finishing touches.

They all sat down on their respective beds and looked at the sky. It was nothing less than an artist's painting. The pink, blue and orange hues complimented the red sun that eventually went below the horizon, giving birth to darkness of the night.

"Anyone up for some chips?" Spence said as he handed out a packet.

"Where did you get this from?" Pin was shocked.

"I have my own ways." Spence said as he shrugged.

"Oh by the way Feng Mian, why did you try to commit suicide that day?" Binh casually shot the question.

"Umm... I don't mind telling you, but none of you will believe me." He seemed uncomfortable and uneasy.

"Shoot it." Spence muttered.

"Well, Tetsuo had said something about eye color, and it honestly triggered me. I wasn't in my senses when I did that."

"But what happened?" Pin seemed curious.

"I'll tell it in short. Tetsuo really helped me get over that incident and I feel comfortable talking about it."

Feng Mian's POV :

I had been living a pretty normal life in Sichuan Province of China. We were a family of three and everything was normal until a fourth member entered our family. It was my brother, Feng Yun. I still remember. It was the best day of my life.

"Yayy! I am going to be a big brother, papa!" Six year old Feng Mian's happiness knew no bounds that day.

"Yes yes. He'll be arriving anytime soon." My dad's face was lit up by a bright smile.

"Papa, do babies come in an airplane?" I said as I gestured a flying plane in the air. My dad laughed.

"Mr. Feng! It's your wife." One of the nurses called out to him.

My dad looked worried, but at the same time he had a smile on his face. I couldn't comprehend as to how that was possible. After talking to the doctor for a couple of minutes, he ran towards me and said,"It's a boy!"

I ran to the nurse and asked her, "Does God send babies through air?"

She seemed flustered and rushed off to some other place.

We both headed to the room where Mama was resting. She seemed tired. "Mama, was the airport too far away?"

"What airport?" Her voice was raspy.

However father gestured something above my head and she immediately nodded. I walked up to the crib to see my brother, as it was the first time I was going to see a baby. I walked up to the crib and looked down at the baby. However, it was not something I was expecting.

"Papa, why is his eyes red?" I asked as I gaped at my father in horror.
